Fast Hartley transform(FHT) was used for the identification of derivative UV spectra of pharmaceuticals, with the advantages of relatively shorter computing time of FHT and more precise results. The arccosine value of dot product of two vectors of normalized FHT coefficients calculated from two compared derivative spectra was a reasonable parameter for the spectral identification. Using this parameter, the similar patterns of derivative spectra of 13 penicillins can be differenciated from each other. The concentration difference and the minor contamination did not interfere the results of identification procedures. All these procedures of identification were accomplished successfully by the computer program, [SPECMAN PLUS] version 1.30, which was developed for this article.

Nine trace elements in Bear Galls(Fel Ursi) studied in this paper are Na, Mg, K, Ca, Cu, Zn, Fe, Pb and Ge. The contents of Na, Mg, K, Ca, Cu, Zn, Fe, Pb are determined by atomic absorption spectrometry and Ge is determined by graphite atomic absorption spectrometry. In both methods, the sample is digested with nitric-perchloric acid and then ashed. The results of analysis are shown in table and the result obtained from this study are as follows. a. The highest content of trace element of Bear Gall is Na and other elements are getting lower in order of K, Mg, Ca, Ge, Zn, Fe, Cu, and Pb. b. Particularly the content of Ge in Bear Gall was determined.

Crude Aconiti Tubers were irradiated with microwave for 5 or 10 min with or without NaHCO₃. Ten min-irradiation reduced the contents of aconitine and mesaconitine to the level of those of commercially available processed Aconiti tuber power which is prepared with the high pressure-high temperature technique. The contents of benzoylaconine of the 10 min-irradiated Aconiti tubers were also comparable to those of commerciallized processed Aconiti tuber powder. However, irradiation with 1%o NaHCO₃ soln. resulted in the drastic reduction of all the three above alkaloids.

Dissociation Values of Bactocresol red (B.C.R.) and Tropeolin OO (Orange Ⅳ) in the mixed solvents as water-methanol, water-ethanol were investigated on their absorption spectra in each differential PH medium and concentration medium. With increasing the ratio of organic solvent concentration, the exponent values of Bactocresol red as Sulfophthalein derivatives becomes larger while that of Tropeolin OO (orange Ⅳ) as azo derivatives becomes smaller.
염기성색소 Methylen Blue 에 의한 Oleic Acid 의 흡광광도정량

A new spectrophotometric method was estalished for the determination of oleic acid. This method is based on the 1,2-dichloroethane extraction of the ion-pair formed between methylene blue and oleic acid. But the absorbance of an ion-pair in the 1,2-dichloroethane layer was variable with the temperature, the ion-pair was extracted back into a diluted hydrochloric acid solution. The maximum absorbance of the acid extract observed at 660mμ and a linear relationship was observed from the initial amount over the range of 50-800γ/㎖ of oleic acid in the aqueous phase. The composition ratio of the ion-pair formed between methylene blue and oleic acid was determined to be 2 : 1 by both the mole ratio and continuous variation methods.

A new spectrophotometric method is proposed for the determination of undecylenic acid. The method is based on the solvent extraction of the ion-pair formed between methylene blue and the anion of undecylenic acid into dichloroethan and then back extraction of it into the aquous phase of diluted hydrochloric acid. The absorbance of the aquous phase is measured at 655 mμ against the reagent blank and a linear relationship is obtained in proportion to the initial amount over the range of 50γ-500γ/ml of undecylenic acid in aquous phase. The composition ratio of the ion pair formed between methylene blue and the anion of undecylenic acid is determined to be 2 : 1 by Mole Ratio Method and Continuous Variation Method. The effect of diverse organic compound was investigated and the proposed method can be also applied to the determination of undecylenic acid of the mixed sample with salicylic acid after separating undecylenic acid as a precipitate of calcium undecylenate and extracting it into diethylether layer in one normal hydrochloric acid. Undecylenic acid can be quantitatively measured within standard deviation of 3.3% by the proposed method.
