This study evaluates a prestressing effect of reinforced concrete (RC) beam strengthened with a pre-strained iron shape-memory alloy (Fe-SMA) strip. A pre-strained value was chosen as experimental variable to investigated the prestressing effect on the RC beams. A recovery stress on the pre-strained Fe-SMA strip occurred by heating, when the deformation of the strip was restricted. The recovery stress introduced a compressive force to the surrounding concrete, resuting in the upward deflection (camber effect). With this finiding from experimental tests, it could be concluded that the Fe-SMA strip can be used as the strengthening material to strengthen the damaged structure and to increase its durability.
탄소섬유 강화플라스틱을 활용한 콘크리트파이프 접합부 성능평가에 관한 연구

The purpose of this research is to develop a joint system for two concrete pipes with reduced wall thickness by a carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) fabric. As compared to conventional concrete pipe, the concrete pipe with the reduced wall thickness has more flexibility. However, the reduced wall thickness makes the conventional joint system not feasible. As an alternative joint, externally wrapping system with the CFRP fabric was proposed. The two CFRP widths (75mm and 150mm) were accounted for as a variable under joint shear test from ASTM C497M specification. The externally wrapping system showed 81.07% higher shear strength, as compared to the required shear strength by ASTM C497M.
고강도 재료를 활용한 횡구속 콘크리트의 국소변형률 측정

This study presents a technique for measuring the local strain of RC columns using high strength materials. A acrylic rod with strain gauges at intervals of 5 mm were embedded in high-strength RC columns. Under uniaxial compression loading, the local strain of the column was measured with strain gauges attached to the acrylic rod. It was confirmed from experimental results that the technique applied in this study is very effective in measuring the local strain of high-strength RC columns and the compressive failure of the high-strength RC columns is concentrated in some local regions.

This paper reports the absorption capacity of super-absorbent polymer (SAP) in water and cement pore solution. This was considered for the free water requirement for self-desiccation when the amount of internal water reduced. The physical state of particles selected from a super-absorbent polymer sample with a particle size distribution 150 μm (SAP-I) and less than 850 μm (SAP-II) monomers acrylic acid were tested at SAP 0.1g contents and time in minute 0.5, 1, 3, 5, 10, 30, and 60. The test was determined by using tea bag test method. As a result, the size of the polymers particles has a significant effect on the absorption kinetics of these polyacrylate-based polymers.
고흡수성 폴리머와 섬유혼입이 균열 자기치유에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 콘크리트에서 발생하는 균열을 해결하기 위한 방법으로 자기치유 성능을 가진 혼화재를 혼입하여 성능을 평가하였다. 시멘트 페이스트에 고흡수성 폴리머와 섬유를 혼입하고 균열을 도입한 후 재령에 따라 균열 자기치유효과를 전자현미경으로 관찰하였다. 그 결과 고흡수성 폴리머와 섬유를 혼입한 하이브리드 시리즈에서 재령 14일에 93%의 균열치유율을 확인하였다. This study evaluates the performance of an admixture with self-healing capability in mitigating cracks in concrete. After mixing a super absorbent polymer(SAP) and fibers into cement paste and creating cracks in the concrete, the self-healing effects were observed by age using an electron microscope. The results indicated a 93% crack recovery rate at age 14 days in the hybrid series containing the super absorbent polymer and the fibers.

In this paper, the bond stress of Fe based Shape Memory Alloy(Fe-SMA) with near surface mounted strengthening was investigated. An lab-shear test using Fe-SMA strips glued with cementitious matrix was performed to evaluate bond stress. Bond length (250 mm, 350 mm, 450 mm) was considered as experimental variable. The bond stress and utilization of Fe-SMA are 1.487MPa and 80%, respectively, at the bond length of 450 mm.
