        A submittal, as a part of three main project management processes: production control, submittals and change orders, is the transmission of information from the subcontractor to the general contractor to the owner, architect, and structural engineer, for review and approval. The purpose of the submittal process is for submittals to be approved in order to start construction. This benefits the contractor by ensuring that the finished project will meet the expectations of the owner. This paper analyzed a case study regarding the submittal process for the local-based environmental construction company, which typically works as a subcontractor and may hire other subcontractors for additional work when applicable. The aim of this study was to roughly evaluate a project management process and understand the submittal process through the study of a case involving the local company.

      • 친환경 건축설계공모전의 평가 기준 및 제출 양식 분석

        As we are facing the global crisis from the Climate Change and energy depletion, we need an urgent action to suggest a building that can restore and regenerate the natural environmental system. This paper suggests that a sustainable design competition can stimulate for architects to bring the cutting-edge ideas into a realized building. AIA COTE Top 10 design competition, organized and run by AIA(American Institute of Architects) COTE(Committed on the Environment) from 1997, is analyzed focusing on the evaluation measures and submission forms as a case study. Its evaluation measures are summarized into 10 themes with critical questions to take care of sustainability issues in building design. And the submission forms are composed of descriptions, diagrams, and metrics to show the process to find the solutions to 10 themes. Since COTE Top 10 maintained the evaluation criteria and submission forms in a consistent format, it was possible to bring a meaningful results such as certification system, energy use, changes in the design approaches over the past years. The comparison between AIA COTE Top 10 and Korea Green Building Design Competition was made in terms of evaluation measures and submission forms and revealed that consistent format and transparency is necessary to promote sustainable design, research, and education. This paper finally suggests the following three points in conclusion: 1)Set the higher goal of sustainable building design reflecting the restorative and regenerative design, 2)Set the consistent format of submission forms to collect the data from green building certification, design approaches using BIM(Building Information Modeling), and building performance, 3)Promote education and outreach of design professionals and the public to spread of the exemplary sustainable building practices.

        가로수의 생태학적 평가를 위한 i-Tree Eco 적용

        도시화에 따라 대기 오염 등 환경 문제가 심각해지고 있다. 도시의 가로수는 정화 및 장벽 역할을 하는 등 환경 문제를 완화한다는 이점이 있다. 이에 가로수의 효율적인 식재 및 관리를 위한 가로수 정보 정량화가 필요한 상황이다. 본 연구에서는 i-Tree Eco 모델을 이용하여 수종 및 흉고직경에 따라 분류하고 가로수에 의한 대기오염물질 제거량, 탄소 저장량, 탄소 격리량, 산소 발생량 등을 산정하였다. 수원시의 은행나무, 느티나무, 벚나무 등 총 43,124그루의 가로수 자료를 활용하였으며, 이는 총 4,422,190 m2의 잎 면적을 차지하는 것으로 조사되었다. 수원시 가로수에 의한 대기오염물질(CO, NO2, O3, SO2) 제거량은 연간 7.93 ton으로 산정되었다. 탄소 저장량은 연간 4,077 ton이며, 격리량은 연간 299 ton, 식물성장에 동반되는 산소 생산량은 연간 797 ton으로 산정되었다. 탄소 저장량과 격리량은 은행나무의 효율이 가장 좋은 것으로 나타났으며, 전체 탄소 저장량과 격리량의 30.3%와 31.5%를 담당하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. Environmental problems such as air pollution are worsening due to urbanization. Urban street trees have the advantage of alleviating environmental problems by carrying out air purification. Thus, it is necessary to obtain street tree information for efficient planting and management of trees. In the present study, the i-Tree Eco model was applied to classify street trees according to species and diameter at breast height. The amount of air pollutant removal, carbon storage, carbon sequestration, and oxygen generation by street trees was calculated. The field data of 43,124 street trees in Suwon, Korea, accounting for a total leaf area of 4,422,190 m2, including ginkgo, zelkova, and Japanese flowering cherry, were used. The total air pollutants (CO, NO2, O3, and SO2) removed by street trees in Suwon were calculated as 7.93 ton/yr. The carbon storage, sequestration, and oxygen production accompanying plant growth were 4,077, 299, and 797 ton/yr, respectively. Ginkgo was found to have the best efficiency in terms of carbon storage and sequestration, accounting for 30.3% and 31.5% of the total carbon storage and sequestration, respectively.

        수환경 내 미세플라스틱 검출분석법 최신 동향 연구

        인간의 편의를 위해 생산된 플라스틱은 500년 이상 썩지 않고 생태계로 유입되어 육상 및 수생태계를 위협하고 있다. 2025년까지 2억 5천만 톤의 플라스틱이 바다로 유입될 것으로 예상되고, 2015년부터 미세플라스틱 관련 연구가 기하급수적으로 급증하고 있지만, 전 세계적으로 미세플라스틱 정의 및 분석 방법에 대한 표준화가 이뤄지지 않고 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 미세플라스틱 분석방법 표준화를 위해 우선적으로 수환경에서의 미세플라스틱 분석방법의 최신 연구동향을 조사하여 프로세스 순으로 제시하였으며, 이에 대한 분석방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 추후 미세플라스틱 표준화를 위한 기초자료로써 활용 가능하며, 표준화 이후 더욱 효과적인 미세플라스틱 관리 정책이 마련될 것으로 기대한다. Human-made plastics takes more than 500 years to break down and have been introduced into the ecosystem, threatening terrestrial and aquatic organisms. By 2025, there will be more than 250 million tons of plastics in the ocean. Although studies regarding microplastics have been exponentially increasing since 2015, international standards for defining the size classification for microplastics, as well as methods for qualitative/quantitative analysis have not been concluded yet. Thus, in this study, the latest trends in analytical methodologies have been reviewed. Further, the study suggests directions for future research approaches can be taken to analyze aquatic microplastics, which could be as useful information for establishing effective microplastic management policy via standardization in microplastic analysis.

        가정용 정수기 폐필터 재활용 동향에 관한 연구

        The use of water purifiers has been increasing every year due to increased drinking water safety concerns raised by the water pollution accidents occasionally reported. Currently, more than 10 million water purifiers have been distributed in Korea, and the estimation of the purifier sales reaches two million units per year. As a result, the number of used water purifier filters that must be replaced on a regular basis has gradually increased. However, regardless of the considerations for the capacity of used filters remaining, water purifier filters were replaced and collected at regular intervals. The high cost of disposal of the used filters by landfill or incineration were required. Thus, in this study, the current status and trends of recycling technologies for used water purifier filters were reviewed. It is noted that there was insufficient statistical data to understand the current status of the difference between the number of used water filters discarded and the number of those recycled. Most studies on the recycling of old water purifier filters have concentrated on pretreatment and cleaning methods for sediment filters and membrane filters, with the goal of extending the lifespan of used filters. Further, the study suggested future study directions on the recycling of used water purifier filters, which could be useful information on establishing environmental policy to promote the recycling of used filters.
