The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of conjunctive adverbs in the 3rd and 4th elementary school students. The types, frequencies and comprehension degrees were analysed in 41 elementary school students from their diaries. And the abilities of using conjunctive adverbs were assessed with the errors in the sentence completion test. and, so were used frequently in both groups, and there were significant differences in the use of because,the reason why. The rate of conjunctive adverbs per one sentence in the 4th elementary school students was higher than that of 3rd. But there was no significant difference. The errors of but was prominent in the sentence completion test, and there was significant difference in the errors of but were between two groups. These results show the developmental characteristics of conjunctive adverbs in the students and the additional and extensive studies are necessary.

Conjunctive markers are grammatical elements which connect two sentences and signal logical relationships between them. They include conjunctive adverbs and conjunctive endings in Korean. 3rd grade in elementary school is important period for children to learn to use complex sentences and conjunctive markers. Children with hearing impairments have many kinds of problems in writings compared with normal children and they are expected to have problems using conjunctive markers. The diaries from children with hearing impairments and normal children who were 3rd grade students in elementary school were collected and analysed. The rate of use of connective adverbs and connective endings were compared between two groups. And the rate of accurate use of them were compared between two groups. Children with hearing impairments showed a low rate of use of total connective adverbs compared with normal children and the difference between two groups was significant statistically(p<0.01, Man-Whitney U test). And the rate of accurate use of connective adverbs in children with hearing impairments was lower than that of in normal children. There was no significant difference in the rate of use of total connective endings between two groups. But, children with hearing impairments used less various connective endings than normal children. Only the rate of use of “-고 /-ko/” in children with hearing impairments was higher than that in normal children (p<0.05, Man-Whitney U test). The present study suggests that children with hearing impairments have problems to use conjunctive markers in writing and the program to promote the use of conjunctive markers is necessary for children with hearing impairments.

In this study, we evaluated the effects of herbal medicine, acupuncture and language therapy in a patient with fluent aphasia after stroke. We treated the patient with Jihwangumja, special acupuncture points and Language-Oriented Treatment(LOT). The language abilities of the patient in this study was markedly increased in Korean-Western Aphasia Battery(K-WAB) and Communicative Ability in Daily Living Test(CADLT). Aphasia quotient, fluency, comprehension, repetition and naming score of K-WAB were improved in second and third examination compared with those of the first examination. Each item of CADLT was improved in second examination compared with that of the first examination.

Objective: Audio-evoked potential is technique used for measuring brain functions such as memory, attention, and concentration. Although a number of studies on acupuncture for pain, there are few reports on the effect of acupuncture cognitive function. Methods : Fifteen healthy volunteers with no neurological condition took part of the study. (23.27±2.09). In this study, we examined the changes in auditory P300 by acupuncture stimulation to "Oegwan" on the left hand. Auditory P300 was recorded before, during and after acupuncture. The amplitude and latency of P300 at Fz, Cz, Pz point were calculated. Results : Auditory P300 amplitude decreased during and after acupuncture, but there was no statistical significance.(P< .05) Auditory P300 latency significantly decreased during and after acupuncture.(P< .05) Conclusions : The decrease of Auditory P300 latency time suggests that acupuncture at Oegwan has some effects on the cognitive function.
개에서 관상동맥내 에피네프린이 기절심근의 관상동맥 혈류량, 산화성대사 및 국소 심근기능에 미치는 영향

Background: Epinephrine is frequently administered during cardiac surgery. The vascular response to epinephrine might be altered by ischemia and reperfusion, since altered vascular control has been demonstrated even after a short period of ischemia. To test the hypothesis, the effects of epinephrine on regional myocardial contractility, coronary blood flow (CBF) and myocardial oxygen consumption (MVO_2) were investigated before and after ischemia in an open-chest canine myocardium. Methods: Fifteen dogs were acutely instrumented under enflurane anesthesia to measure aortic and left ventricular pressures, pulmonary and left anterior descending (LAD) blood flows via Doppler flowmeter, and subendocardial segment length in the region supplied by LAD. lncremental doses of epinephrine (4, 10, 20, 30 ng/mL of LAD flow) were infused directly into LAD before (normal) and after a 15 min of LAD occlusian and subsequent 30 min-reperfusion (stunned). Segment shortening (%SS), as an index of regional myocardial contractiliy was evaluated. Simultaneous arterial and coronary venous contents of oxygen and lactate were measured during epinephrine (0.0, 4,10,and 30 ng/mL) iincreases in %SS and MVO. These changes were accompanied by excessive increases in CBF, resulting in decreased EO_2. After the ischemia and reperfusion, %SS was depressed and lactate extraction (Elac) was reduced, but similar mechanical responses to epinephrine were observed. However, in the stunned myocardium, CBF increased in parallel with increases in MVO_2, resulting in unaltered EO_2. Results; Epinephrine infusion further decreased Elac, dose-dependently in stunned myocardium. Heart rate and left ventricular systolic and diastolic pressures were little but similarly affected during epinephrine infusions before and after myocardial ischemia. Conclnsions: The results suggest that epinephrine exerts positive inotropic effects in both normal and stunned myocardium, and that epinephrine causes direct coronary vasodilation in normal myocardium, but this effect is abolishein stunned myocardium in dogs. It is also suggested that epinephrine infusion depresses Elac dose-dependently in stunned myocardium.
