There are various methods to increase driving distance of electric vehicles(EV). One of them is the improved driving efficiency of the traction motor. In terms of electrical design, reduction of electrical losses is essential to improve the energy efficiency. In addition, lightweight design of the motor is also important. The lightweight design increase power density(kW/kg) of the motor, and it means higher product value of the motor itself. In this study, a topology optimization technique is applied to reduce housing weight and to optimize housing surface vibration and radiated noise.

The application of SEA(Statistical Energy Analysis) is very useful to predict 'high frequency' structuralacoustic coupled system over 400㎐. However, common SEA methods do not solve a noise problem due to complex structural vibration mode on objects that are not flat plate or simple curvature. Furthermore, SEA results are not reliable due to low modal density in the 'middle frequency' range. A number of methods to predict the mid-frequency noise problem have been developed, but these methods are not well established yet. This paper describes a hybrid FESEA method using the FE mesh model suitably correlated with an experiment modal test result. And the sound transmission loss(STL) of a vehicle dash panel is calculated with a structural stiffness and resonance effect.

PBNR(Power Based Noise Reduction) is a useful tool to predict the vehicle interior noise. It can measure noise reduction quantity from engine room to cabin using acoustic transfer function. This method provide acoustic package performance of the vehicle and able to prepare frequency band to same segment or benchmarking vehicle. This paper studies reciprocity that is based on PBNR test. And it also shows that noise reduction quantity is almost same when tonal noise is generated from vehicle. It can be used to predict motor or fan noise of electronic vehicle.
