본 연구는 삼성 백혈병 사태에 대한 언론 보도에 초점을 두고, 언론이 산업재해를 보도하는 방식을 살펴보고자 했다. 지상파 방송 3사와 5대 일간지, 인터넷 진보언론, 보수 성향의 인터넷 언론, 경제지 등에서 2007년부터 2015년까지 해당 사태에 관한 보도 기사를 검토한 결과, 다음과 같은 특징을 발견하였다. 첫째, 보수언론과 경제지는 ‘반도체 노동자의 건강과 인권 지킴이’(반올림)가 노동자의 백혈병 피해를 주장하던 1차 국면에서는 사건을 왜소화(exnomination)하고, 삼성이 ‘보상’ 방법을 적극적으로 개진하던 2차 국면에서는 사건을 확대(nomination)하고 있었다. 둘째, 언론은 삼성 백혈병 사태의 원인 규명보다 결과와 해결책에 더 큰 관심을 보였다. 셋째, 보수언론과 경제지는 해당 사태를 보도하면서 ‘노동자’와 ‘노동 현장’을 지움으로써, ‘반(反)노동 친(親)삼성’ 태도를 견지했다. 넷째, 보수언론과 경제지는 사태 전반에서 국가와 시민사회를 삭제하고 시장 중심의 담론을 이어가는 면모를 보였다. 삼성 백혈병 사태에 관한 언론의 보도 방식을 가추적 논증 방식으로 살펴본 결과, 한겨레, 경향신문을 제외하고 대부분의 언론이 기업 친화적 자세를 견지하며 원인 규명보다는 보상에 관심을 보임으로써 책임 소재를 묻거나 따지지 않는 방식을 택하고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. This study examines how the Korean media has covered the leukemia case of Samsung workers. The news articles on the cases, published in the three terrestrial broadcasting stations, the five major newspapers, progressive Internet news media, conservative Internet news media, and business newspapers between 2007 and 2015, were retrieved and analyzed. Four characteristics of news reports were discovered as following: First, while conservative news media and business news media have exnominated the first phase of the case in which a civil organization Sharp claimed that Samsung workers had leukemia from their workplace; they have nominated the second phase of the case in which Samsung attempted to solve the problem by compensating the victims for their disease. Second, the media generally have displayed more interests in the results than in the causes of the case. Third, the conservative press and business newspapers have reported the case in favor of Samsung rather than laborer victims. Fourth, the conservative press have deployed market-friendly discourses, rather than problematizing the state and civil society. Through an abduktive analysis, this study argues that except the Hangyore and Kyunghyang Shinmun, most of the Korean media, assuming pro-business attitude, do not question or clarify where the responsibility of the industrial disaster lies by displaying their interests in the phase of solution, not in the phase of cause.

This study structurally analyzes users’ attitudes toward online community by using five factors: perceived norm, flow, satisfaction, perceived value, and participation in offline meeting. An analysis of the relationships through structural equational modeling shows that the more weight users put on the norm of online community and the more they experience flow, the more satisfied they are with the operation of the community. However, the satisfaction does not lead to participation in offline meeting. By contrast, the perceived norm and the experience of flow influence the level of perceived value of online community, which affects the participation in offline meeting. In addition, the more users enjoy online community, the more satisfied they are with the operation of the community.
