As blue-collar construction workers are the critical source among production factors of the labor-intensive construction industry in Korea, the improvement of the labor environment including employment stability, realistic remuneration are emergently required. In view of this, the study, based on the associated primary data, attempts to analyze installation condition in construction sites and installation criteria in a large-sized construction company on the convenience facilities for construction site workers, and to investigate satisfaction level of the blue-collar construction workers on that ones. The study further suggests some realistic informations upon which the efficient improvement measures for the blue-collar construction workers possibly are prepared. The results of this study are provide practical basic data for establishment of realistic as well as reasonable policies/programs for the working milieu improvement.

Due to the changes in construction industries, the demand for construction labors has been always unstable. Sizes of labor manpower have been rapidly decreasing, and consequently, labor supply in the construction sites has not been smoothly performed. Upon the recognition, this study attempts to estimate labor demand along with the fluctuation of construction market in Korea, and further to offer the realistic judgement data on the current situation of the market. For the purpose, based upon the extraction of the factor(area size of building permission) influencing the sizes of labor demand, it estimates the sizes of labor demand for the short run. The study results would be employed as useful data to contribute in developing the method for stabilizing labor supply and demand.

Poor working conditions in the construction industry have made young people reluctant to enter it, resulting in supply/demand unbalance of construction skilled worker. Currently, most construction workers in Korea acquire skills through apprenticeships. Against this background, this study aimed to identify problems in apprenticeship-based methods of technical education, and to suggest measures that could improve these methods. As a measure to improve current apprenticeship-based methods of technical education, technical education needs to be regularly provided on construction sites, and each construction company needs to issue a certificate to workers confirming their completion of technical education. It is also necessary to establish a system in which this certificate is recognized as education experience. In addition, it is recommended to form partnerships with construction technology education institutes supported by the government in order to provide construction workers with opportunities to receive new technologies and construction methods free of charge, and it is urgently necessary to establish and implement a policy to adequately support their cost of living during this period. 건설업은 열악한 근무환경으로 인해 다른 산업에 비해 젊은 인력들이 건설업으로의 취업을 기피하여 국내 건설기능인력 수급에 어려움을 겪고 있다. 현재 대부분의 국내 건설인 력들은 도제식 기술전수방식에 의해 기능을 습득하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 도제식 기능교육방식에 대한 문제점을 도출하고 이에 대한 개선방안을 제시하였다. 현행 도제식 기능교육방식에 대한 개선방안으로 해당 건설현장에서 주기적으로 기능교육을 실시하고 이에 대한 교육이수 인증서를 각 건설회사에서 발급토록 하여 이를 교육경력으로 인정 받을 수 있도록 제도를 정비하여야 한다. 또한 공공 건설기술교육원 및 정부지원 인가 전문기술학원 등과의 연계를 통해 신기술ㆍ신공법과 관련기술에 대한 이론교육을 무상으로 받을 수 있는 기회를 제공하고, 더 나아가 이 기간 동안 생계유지를 위한 현실적인 적정 생계비용 지원정책을 수립하여 제공하는 방안이 시급히 필요하다.

In order to improve the safety performance of construction projects, effective and corporative safety management program between head office and job site must be implemented. And its performance must be measured and analyzed for the identification of the problems in the safety management area. This study proposes a previous evaluation model of safety performance for the large construction firm in order to enhance their safety level. The fundamental data for proposed model is based on the past research(Son 2002), which is structured of evaluation criteria weighted factor. statistical evaluation formula. The model would help the firm management in identifying the weak areas of safety performance in terms of the degree performing certain safety tasks. It is expected that the model could contribute to achieving the "zero accident" level.

There have been increasing necessities for quality improvement, cost saving, safety guarantee and construction-period reduction along with the trends of complication, specialization and magnification in the domestic construction market. In particular, in order to secure enterprises' competitiveness of domestic construction companies, it is required to realize substantial productivity improvement upon which they could flexibly respond to the rapid change of external environment. Under the context, the study attempts, as an alternative to the improvement of construction productivity; 1) to investigate and understand the existing field management work and operation system at the selected apartment construction sites, 2) to analyze their problems and obstacles and 3) to extract some policy/program suggestions for the efficient field management.
