The objective of this study is to classify the characteristics of green landscapes in suburban cities and identify methods for managing them. The study site is Matsudo city in the outskirts of Tokyo, Japan. All the greenery in Matsudo was categorized into different landscape patterns using spatial analysis and field surveys. Afterwards, assessments of green landscapes were conducted using questionnaire surveys and factor analyses. There are a variety of green landscapes in Matsudo, formed by a number of different reasons such as urban planning, topographical characters and socio-cultural environments. Twenty different green landscape patterns were identified in Matsudo. The survey concluded that green landscape patterns of parks and rivers in Urbanization Control Areas are more attractive than patterns of farmland or forest in residential areas. Three major factors influenced perceptions: legibility, intimacy and the locality on the landscape assessment. Urban farmland and urban forest are two characteristics of suburban cities, and these green landscapes relate to intimacy or localities in a regional image. Finally, based on the results of this study, some implications were discussed for a green master plan and green landscape management.

The purpose of this study is to analyze features and meanings on Kyonsungbu Namsan Park Design Proposal established in 1917, and to discuss the significance of the idea of Forest Park on Namsan Park. This Namsan Park Design Proposal has been the first attempt to apply modern park concept to broaden Namsan area by a professional park planner. The professional park planner to conduct Namsan Park Design Proposal is Dr. Seiroku Honda who is a pioneer of modern Japanese park planning. He clarified the concept of Namsan Park into Forest Park. With his idea we can imaginethe position of Namsan at that time as a meaningful green space in Kyonsung city. In the proposal, the planning boundary of Namsan Park was considered widely as Namsan area into one big park, including the north with existing Wesungdae Park, Hanyang Park, Noinjeong and Jangchungdan, and the south with connecting park to Yongsan area beyond the walls of Hangyang castle. In a wide range of park space of the plan, parkways and park facilities were introduced. How to manage new parkways and facilities were also considered together. The significance of this plan is that it is the first trial of modern park planning with Namsan. In addition to the analysis of Kyonsungbu Namsan Park Design Proposal, the modern meaning and implications were also discussed.

The purpose of this study is to identify characteristics of the landscape changes in Gwangjyu city and Icheon city, the suburban areas on the outskirts of the Seoul metropolitan area, by focusing on the causes of the urban sprawl and the resultant morphological characteristics of landscape degradation. Particular attention has been given to the ‘advantages for developing suburb including geographical proximity and land price’, ‘institutional regulation such as land-use regulation’ and ‘community solidarity’ as drivers for possible introduction of external factors. The types of landscape change were divided into three, after having on-the-ground research on eleven chosen towns and interviews with head of a village: Overwhelming Change, Separated and Small-Scale Change. It was found that, in general, the quality of landscape was best for the small-scale change type, followed by separated and overwhelming change types. While the types of landscape change are correlated with the geographical proximity, its relevance with land regulation is relatively weak. The study found that imposing a land-use regulation as a means to prevent changes in suburban village landscape may not be fully effective. Also it analyzed that villages could better manage with keen interest the surrounding landscape if there is a high degree of solidarity within the village community. Therefore, the sense of community could play an important complementary role to land-use regulation which does not suffice in itself to manage suburban landscape.

손용훈 ( Yong Hoon Son ),황건태 ( Geon-tae Hwang ) 한국전기전자재료학회 2024 전기전자재료학회논문지 Vol.37 No.5
In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, electronic devices are becoming increasingly miniaturized and lightweight to overcome spatial limitations, necessitating lower power consumption. Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs), which convert mechanical energy into electrical energy, offer an ideal solution as small-scale power generators for these compact devices. Recent research has focused on various materials and structural designs to maximize the output of triboelectric energy harvesters, highlighting the growing importance of theoretical structure analysis software for precise evaluation. COMSOL Multiphysics software provides an accurate method for simulating the electrical characteristics of TENGs. This Tutorial Status Report introduces the process of modeling TENGs and analyzing their electrical output using COMSOL Multiphysics

This study intended for Cheongryongsan Community Garden in Gwanak-gu, one of the demonstration places for ‘Community Garden’ Project recently implemented by the Seoul Government. This study had two major purposes: investigating the current status of the management and usage and identifying its characteristics; investigating users` awareness to consider the construction and operation directions of sustainable community gardens. This study was conducted based on several surveys such as an investigation into the spatial configuration and the management system of parks through a field study, a use survey through a questionnaire survey for vegetable garden users and an awareness survey about the construction direction of gardens direction preferred by users through the analytical hierarchy process (AHP). As a result of a questionnaire survey for vegetable garden users, the usage status was summarized as follows: Considering the common trends in the 2012 and the 2013 user survey, women used Cheongryongsan Vegetable Garden more than men. Over fifties used it most of all users. Users were mostly neighborhood residents. They used to visit there three to five times a week and stayed for about 30 minutes to one hour. Users differently responded to the question related to the order of priority for the use of the garden in the 2012 and the 2013 survey. They had increasingly used it for individuals` production activities more than social exchanges. As a result of making an AHP analysis for general park users, vegetable garden users there were clear differences in the targets which each subject put emphasis on in relation to the construction and operation of vegetable gardens. General park users recognized a vegetable garden as a park where park functions and the functions of the vegetable garden coexisted. On the other hand, vegetable garden users viewed it as a space where they attached importance to the functions of the vegetable garden like an allotment. Last, this study contemplated subjects related to the construction and operation of vegetable gardens which had to be considered in the future. Vegetable gardens tended to be biased as personal hobby places. It was viewed that the main reason was insufficient support activities for vegetable garden education and exchange programs originally planned when vegetable gardens had been constructed. Vegetable garden users recognized vegetable gardens as places for individuals` farming activities like allotments. For the desirable operation of vegetable gardens, it would be necessary to give priority to the park management before the production activities in individuals` vegetable gardens. The important role of the government would be to build the base through the provision of education and opportunities so that a local resident organization could actively participate in the management of a vegetable garden after a vegetable garden was constructed. It would be necessary to make a use survey and an awareness survey for users conducted in this study on a regular basis because the surveys could be important basic data in the decision-making process for the sustainable operations of the vegetable garden.

The purposes of this study are to review the international cases about National Urban Park System, and to consider the implications of adopting National Urban Park System in Korea focusing on Japanese National Government Park System which has the most similar condition to that of Korea. Japan has 17 National Government Parks with the total area of 2,816.8㏊. To manage properly the National Urban Park, Japanese government introduced two organizations; the Parks and Recreation Foundation as organization for general works of the park and the Urban Renaissance Agency as organization for paid facilities management in the park with the costs borne by the beneficiary. The current challenges are measures to deal with increasing maintenance cost and utilization methods of under-developed land in the park in the near future. Regarding such, Japan is utilizing programs with the natural environment on the view of a new park management strategy, and also is searching for an efficient management method with civil participating. This study would get two aspects of implications to Korea, one is the effect of introducing a National Urban Park System and the other is the necessity for the management system. Specially, on the management system, practical park development plan must be established in a long-term perspective and the creating park and the management system must be constructed from the perspective of governance. The role of a nation today is governance and not government, which also applies to the adoption of national urban park system.

The purpose of this study is to interpret the landscape characteristics of Changdeokgung`s rear garden with the idea of Yijing(意境) the way to have a sense of an imaginative object. A teim of Jing(境) in Yi-jing means a boundary of man`s consciousness. On the boundary of consciousness for an imaginative object, there is a situation of man`s emotion to be called Qingjing(情境) to meet an object, and beyond Qingjing, there is Yijing, a consciousness of the idea and the truth. The Structure of the Yijing is an analytical framework in this study. It is clarified that the idea of Yijing and landscape characteristics of changdeokgung`s rear garden to analyze works of kings and related historical documents. In result, there were three kings named Injo, Sukjeong and Jeongjo who played big roles to develop the rear garden. First, Injo had built physical structure of the rear garden, the second Sukjong enjoyed Qingjing with composing the poems of Sangrimshipkyoung(上林十景), Jeongjo clearly had made a boundary of idea of Yijing broaden. It is an effective way to interpret imaginative characteristics of our traditional landscape through the concept of Yijing the useful way to understand and systemize a subject of idealistic consciousness.

Since the new millennium, BIM has been widely adopted to improve productivity in the field of architecture, engineering, and construction with the government policies of each country. After its first introduction into the field of landscape architecture in USA, BIM has been debated on its merits and limitations mainly by the European countries' academic and, at the same time, practical worlds. However, little attention has been paid to BIM, in particular, in the field of landscape architecture in Korea leaving many issues to solve to fully utilize BIM. The purpose of this study is to present the main issues and strategic agenda for the successful introduction of BIM in landscape architecture in Korea. This study shows that the new derived word of LIM(Landscape Information Modeling) instead of BIM appeared in the field of landscape architecture. Then, this paper discusses the main issues on standardization and interoperability in the adoption of LIM to create, integrate, and reuse landscape information. Finally, four strategic agenda are presented to successfully introduce LIM into the domestic field of landscape architecture by reviewing the societies of the landscape discipline in UK and Norway that play a leading role by organizing BIM working groups.
