In this study, we conducted whole effluent toxicity (WET) proficiency testing based on the results which EC50 value of 3 types (A, B, C) unknown samples calculated from 32 water quality measurement agencies in Korea. WET proficiency testing was expected to their improve of analysis skill and ensure reliability of analysis results. Ultimately, it is intended to promote the reliable enforcement of WET. WET proficiency testing was evaluated using the z-score, robust z-score and the results showed that 30 participating agencies were “compliance”. In addition, EC50 values of “unknown sample A” were the normal distribution. Therefore, “unknown sample A” was considered as the most suitable standard toxicity substance.

In this study, we propose a new pixel edge shape of the fringe field switching(FFS) mode which ensures more stable movement of liquid crystal molecules and higher transmittance at the edge part. the electro optical properties were calculated 3-dimensionally using by commercially available "Techwiz LCD". From the simulation results, we showed that the dynamic stability of liquid crystal molecules was obtained in a new pixel structure. We also revealed that the transmittance of the new pixel structure increased more than 6 % compared to that of the conventional pixel structure.

In this paper, We coupled fluid balance and director balance equation from Ericksen-Leslie's continuum theory and observed the motion of Liquid Crystal molecular. We simulated flow velocity and director distribution in which flow effect is considered in switching on and switching off state. We interpreted the dynamic response characteristic caused by the flow. As the result of the simulation, We could see the flow effect. In the case of Twisted Nematic(TN) cell, this flow caused abnormal twist temporarily in switching off state. We could prove that this abnormal twist is a direct cause of optical bounce phenomenon known well until now with the result of simulation. In addition, We analyzed the mechanism of the fast response due to flow in the case of Optically Compensated Bend(OCB) cell.

In this study, we have researched the optimum design method of the lenticular lens sheet for 3D displays on a TFT-LCD panel, to offer a more stable stereoscopic image, improved 3D quality, and a wider viewing zone. Especially, we have defined the viewing zone width (a parameter denoted as Z) to apply it to the optimum design. The results of this new design method have been compared with the existing design method. As a result, it is revealed that the proposed design method improves the stereoscopic image quality by reducing the black matrix zone width.
Weak Anchoring 에너지를 고려한 TN-LCD의 Simulation

In this thesis, an anchoring energy in the upper and lower substrates of TFT-LCD cell has been modeled and applied in the numerical calculation of the molecular orientation of the TN-LCD. The molecular orientation of liquid crystals defined as tilt and twist angles was simulated using the Newton-Raphson method and the Gaussian integration method. From the results, the tilt and twist angles for the strong anchoring energy were proven to be coincide with those of the conventional results. on the other hand, for the weak anchoring energy, azimuth angles of the molecules were changed abruptly from $0^{\circ}\;to\;90^{\circ}$ near the middle area of the cell due to the balance of the anchoring energy and the elastic energy of the liquid crystals.
흐름효과를 고려한 IPS-LCDs, VA-LCDs의 전기광학적 특성 시뮬레이션

In this paper, we analyzed the molecular behavior of IPS-LCDs and VA-LCDs by using numerical simulation. The numerical simulation was performed on the basis of Ericksen-Leslie continuum theory. To improve the accuracy of the calculation, we considered fluid balance equation and director balance equation at the same time. thus, we calculated the flow effect for both switching on and off states. As the results of simulation, we confirmed abnormal twist in IPS-LCDs and fast molecular behavior in VA-LCDs which could influence response time.
3차원적 시뮬레이션에 의한 TFT-LCD의 Gray Scale 성능 분석

We analyzed the effect of a pixel and all the inter-electrode capacitances in a unit pixel of TFT-LCDs on the gray scale capability. The pixel and all the inter-electrode parasitic capacitances were obtained from the tree dimensional profiles of potential distribution and molecular director considering lateral fields generated at the edge of the pixel. To obtain the RMS and kickback voltages of the pixel, we constructed an equivalent circuit of the panel containing all the parasitic capacitances. The calculation was performed though H-SPICE. As results, we confirmed that the pixel becomes smaller, the effect of parasitic capacitances on the gray scale capability becomes larger.
