        비모수 통계방법을 이용한 남·북한강 지천의 수질 비교

        The paper presents an application of nonparametric statistical method to comparison of stream water qualities between two different watersheds : the Seuth and North Branches of the Han River where significant differences have been reported regarding watershed characteristics as well as aquatic biota. Water quality data were obtained from three synoptic field surveys conducted from March to July 1992. The water quality parameters included 5-day biochemical oxygen demand, chemical oxygen demand, pH, suspended solids, anionic surfactants, and conductivity. The normality of tributary water qualities in both watersheds were examined using the boxplot which is a concise graphical summary of the data distribution. The plots showed that most data were typically non-normally distributed as expected. Therefore, nonparametric statistical method called Wilcoxen Rank-Sum Test was adopted in this study. The result indicated that discernable differences of water qualities existed between tributaries of two branches. Highly significant differences were computed in pH and conductivity during all attempted flow conditions. The other parameters, surh as BOD, COD, SS, and AS were much higher in tributaries of the South Branch than in these of the North Branches during low and mid flow periods. During high flow period, however, no statistical differences were computed between two groups of data. Nonparametric aspects of water quality data were also discussed in this paper.

        그물형 하천에서의 용존산소 시뮬레이션

        A water quality modeling study was performed for network stream located at western part of Lower Nakdong River. Model construction was based on SNSIM(Stream Network Simulation Model which was developed by United States Environmental Protection Agency. The study area includes Western Nakdong River, Joman River, and their tributaries. The area was divided into 22 reaches according to the model structure. Each reach was then subdivided into uniform computational element of 0.1km. In order to characterize study area, two synoptic field surveys were performed during February 6∼7 and March 29∼30, 1991 periods at network stream and input tributaries. The model was calibrated to the February survey data and verified to the March survey data. The water quality parameters simulated in the model included dissolved oxygen(DO), carbonaceous biochemical oxygen demand(CBOD), and nitrogenous biochemical oxygen demand (NBOD). Computer code of SNSIM model was modified in this study to be executable on IBM PC or comparable with metric input/output unit. The study indicated that the modified SNSIM model would be an effective tool to simulate the water qualities in the complicated stream network. The predicted water qualities displayed reasonable agreements with the field measurements during both surveys.

        This paper presents the development of standardized modules and an integrated program which will be used for social environmental education. The study objectives are to develop modules which are based on various environmental topics, to relate the regional environmental topics to the educational modules and program, and to include the demand of students in the modules and program. Literature and questionary surveys, as well as, module development method were utilized as research tools. The titles of developed modules are "The Green Plant Earth," "Unexpected Resources: Save Resources and Recycle", "Water as the Mother of All Lives", "The Blue Sky with Clean Air", and "Soil as the Home of All Living and Non-living Things". It is hoped that the developed modules and program are utilized as course materials and curriculum for social environmental education in various educational institutes. The study results will be materialized as multimedia in near futher.
