1,3-Butadiene can usually produce 4-vinylcyclohexene via the well-known Diels-Alder reaction using homogeneous catalyst. This reaction was carried out over metal-zeolite catalysts prepared by ion exchange method. Ammonia was a very effective reducing agent for the preparation of monovalent copper from Cu2+-zeolites. Cu+-zeolite catalyst showed high conversion. To correlate the reaction activity with catalyst acidity, the conversion was investigated for various supports. Among the catalysts tested, NaY showed the highest activity. Characterization of metal included within zeolite has been carried out with a combination of in-situ photoluminescence and ESR in order to obtain a detailed description of Cu ion under vacuum. In-situ IR measurement was also conducted to study converting 4-vinylcyclohexene for cyclodimerization of 1,3-butadiene with conjugated double bond.

The adsorbability of NOx on various adsorbents, La₂0Sr_0.8Co_(1.0)O_x (LSC) supported on H-ZSM-5 and ion-exchanged Co/ZSM-5, has been studied by microwave-induced adsorption-desorption cycle. The allowable temperature of LSC supported on H-ZSM-5 was changed with the loading amounts of LSC. Among the adsorbents, CO/ZSM-5 showed best absorbability of NOx and the amounts of NOx was not changed with increasing the number of adsorption-desorption cycle.
