This survey was performed to report rare outbreak of liver cirrhosis in Korean native goat (KNG) which was died of Yangpyeong`s goat farm on Feb. 1992. The examination for the KNG was carried out by clinical signs, necropsy and various laboratory test including parasitic, bacterial and histological test. The KNG looked jaundice, ascite, hemorrhage of rumen, abomasum and intestine, and brownish smooth cirrhotic liver at necropsy. Histological examination for liver revealed considerable proliferation of connective tissue and piecemeal necrosis which was caused by chronic active inflammation in interlobules and intralobules. There were atrophic micro and macro nodules which were surrounded by connective tissue. The lobular structure lack almost all central vein. The portal areas appearred proliferation of bile ducts, blood vessels and connective tissues. These connective tissue infiltrated heavily with plasma cells, lymphocytes and histocytes. Histological examination for brain proved to be hepatic encephalopathy by virture of congestion and edema in cerebral medullary. From these results were demonstrated mixed nodular, active, postnecrotic liver cirrhosis.
가금(家禽)과 포유가축(哺乳家畜) 적혈구(赤血球)의 삼투적(渗透的) 취약성(脆弱性)의 비교(比較)

The study was attempted to scrutinize the normal osmotic fragility of erythrocytes in domestic poultry such as chicken, quail and duck making a comparison with that in domestic mammalia such as dog and pig. Osmotic fragility of erythrocytes was determined on blood samples from 10 healthy adult animal in each species. Optical initial hemolysis of erythrocytes occurred at 0.395±0.03% Nacl for chicken, 0.410±0.03% for duck, 0.440±0.02% for quail, 0.470±0.05% for dog and 0.560±0.03% for pig. Optical complete hemolysis of erythrocytes occurred at 0.270±0.02% Nacl for chicken, 305±0.03% for duck, 0.360±0.02% for quail, 0.370±0.03% for dog and 0.455±0.03% for pig. In other words, erythrocytes of poultry have stronger resistance to osmotic lysis than that of mammalia, showing the strongest resistance in chicken among the tested poultry.

The study was attempted to scrutinize the normal osmotic fragility of erythrocyte in the domestic ruminants, making a comparison with that of human and canine. The animals used in the experiment were apparently healthy adult Holstein cattle, Korean native cattle, sheep (Corriedale) and Korean native goats. Osmotic fragility of erythrocytes was the highest in the Korean native goats, and the next were sheep and Korean native cattle, and Holstein cattle in order. In other words, erythrocytic resistance to osmotic lysis was the strongest in Holstein cattle and the most weak in Korean native goats among the domestic ruminants. In general, resistance of erythrocytes was stronger in human and canine than in the domestic ruminants.

소에 있어서 등장 dextrose액으로 희석한 혈액의 적혈구 침강율(ESR) 측정에 의한 적혈구 침층용적(VPRC)치의 간접계산법

The purpose of this study is to derive indirect values of volume of packed red cell(VPRC), without centrifugation, from erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR) of blood diluted with isotonic dextrose solution in cattle. Each of ten blood samples taken from apprently healthy Korean cows and Holstein cows was used to produce eight different mixture of autologous plasma and blood corpuscles such that their values of VPRC lay between 15 to 50ml/100ml, and then each of the blood mixture was again diluted with 5% dextrose solution. The measurements of ESR using 45 degree-angled capillary hematocrit tube, 1.1~1.2mm bore, ($45^{\circ}$-micro-ESR) were practised for the diluted blood of various levels of VPRC under the ambient temperature of $10^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$ and $30^{\circ}C$. Reliable values of VPRC on the basis of the correlating linear regressive equation to the ESR could be derived from the values of $45^{\circ}$-micro-ESR/hr in the mixture of one part of whole blood and one part of 5% dextrose solution(1:1). For an aid of practical use, authors suggested a list of the $45^{\circ}$-micro-ESR/hr values of the diluted blood equivalent to VPRC of whole blood.
