Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute has developed key technologies for a very high temperature gas-cooled reactor(VHTR). They can be categorized into design and analysis codes, thermo-fluid tests, high temperature compact heat exchangers, material data base, coated particle fuel fabrication and hydrogen production process. KAERI has operated a very high temperature helium experimental loop since 2012. The loop was designed to provide the component-level operation conditions for bench-scale high temperature components. Since the development of high-temperature components for VHTR is very important because of its high operation temperature than that of a common light water reactor and high-pressure industrial processes. Over the past five years, helium loop tests were aimed at the improvement of its design specification and the thermal performance of experimental scale printed circuit heat exchangers and a hot gas duct. At present, the helium loop is being operated to validate the code models of the core thermo-fluid analysis for the prismatic gas cooled reactor.

Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) has conducted steady-state tests with the constant heat flux conditions to investigate the scale effect on heat removal behavior of the air-cooled Reactor Cavity Cooling System (RCCS). The heated cavity height of the test facility at KAERI is 4.0 m, a quarter-scale of the full scale cavity height. The post-test system-analysis results using GAMMA+ was performed to simulate air-cooled RCCS test results . GAMMA+ with improved heat transfer model showed the good predictability for the test results. The governing mechanisms are the radiation across the cavity and the convection in the riser duct, based on the comparison with test ana system-analysis results. Especially, the mixed convection in the riser duct is very important to extrapolate RCCS coolability from test results. Additionally, the in-house computational fluid dynamics analysis code was used to find suitable turbulence models to simulate the KAERI test results.

컴퓨터 그래픽스의 연구는 크게 사실적 렌더링 분야와 비사실적 렌더링 분야로 나눌 수 있다. 사실적 렌더링과 달리 비사실적 렌더링은 만화, 수채화, 해칭과 같은 사람이 손으로 표현한 것 같은 분위기와 특징을 갖는 영상을 표현해 보자는데 그 목적이 있다고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 비사실적 렌더링 기법의 하나인 실시간 해칭 렌더링기법과 사실적 렌더링기법인 그림자 기법을 통합하여 실시간 해칭 렌더링에서 그림자를 생성하기 위한 방법을 모색하였다. 그림자 기법에는 투영 텍스쳐 그림자 기법을 이용한 그림자 기법을 해칭 렌더링에 적용하여 해칭 렌더링에서 실시간 해칭 그림자를 생성하기 위한 기법을 제시한다. The research of computer graphics is divided into two parts of photorealistic rendering and non-photorealistic rendering. The purpose of non-photo realistic rendering is to make image like cartoon, water-color, hatching etc. In this paper, we study for real-time hatching rendering and shadow techniques and we combine two techniques to make real-time hatching shadow. In shadow techniques we apply projected texture shadow to hatching rendering. Eventually, we introduce natural real-time hatching shadow through comparison and analysis.

우리나라 최남단 난대림지역인 천지연계곡에 분포하고 있는 목본식물의 종조성, 분포현황 및 관속식물상을 조사하였다. 천지연계곡의 교목성 수종은 29종이었으며 , 그 중 침엽수인 해송을 제외한 활엽수종 중 낙엽활엽수가 13종이었다. 교목성 수종은 2,395본이었으며, 그 중 낙엽활엽수가 1,427본으로 상록활엽수보다 많았다. 교목성 수종의 피도는 상록활엽수와 낙엽활엽수가 각각 42.3%와 48.7%로 낙엽활엽수의 상대피도가 다소 높았다. 관목성 수종은 37종이 분포하는 것으로 밝혀졌으며, 개체수에 있어서는 교목성 수종과 달리 상록활엽수종들의 개체수가 많았다. 관목성 수종의 상대피도는 상록활엽수와 낙엽활엽수가 각각 35.4%와 64.4%로 상록활엽수의 비가 현저히 높았다. 천지연에 분포하고 있는 관속식물은 114과 320속 397종 1아종 39변종 9품종으로 총446 분류군이었으며, 그 중 제주도 특산식물은 가시딸기(Rubus hongnoensis Nakai)와 제주상사화(Lycoris chejuensis K. Tae et S. Ko) 2 분류군, 우리나라에서는 제주도에만 분포하는 식물은 괴불이끼(Crepidomanes insigne (v.d. Bosch) Fu) 등 17 분류군, 천연기념물은 담팔수(Elaeocarpus sylvestris (Loureiro) Poiret var. ellipticus (Thunb.) Hara) 1 분류군, 법정보호식물은 솔잎란(Psilotum nudum (L.) Griseb.)과 고란초(Crypsinus hastatus (Thunb.) Copeland) 2 분류군, 귀화식물은 수영(Rumex acetosa L.) 등 38 분류군, 식재식물은 은행나무(Gingo biloba L.)등 75 분류군이었다. This study investigated the species composition and distribution of woody plants, and flora of vascular plants of Cheonjiyeon where is located in the most southern region of Korea. Twenty-nine taxa of trees were distributed in the valley, and of these, deciduous broad-leaved trees were 13. Of the total number of 2,547 trees, 1,429 were deciduous broad-leaved trees and remainder was broad-leaved evergreen. Deciduous broad-leaved trees covered 48.7% of the tree canopy while evergreen broad-leaved trees covered only 42.3%. The total number of shrub taxa was 37 with more evergreen shrub taxa than deciduous. Evergreen shrubs occupied 64.4% of shrub canopy while deciduous shrubs covered only 35.4%. The result of the investigation of flora showed that there are 446 taxa of flora including 114 families, 320 genera, 397 species, 1 subspecies, 39 varieties, and 9 forma. Of these, two species, Rubus hongnoensis Nakai and Lycoris chejuensis K. Tae et S. Ko, are endemic plants of Jeju Island. The flora includes 17 taxa of rare plants that are distributed only in Jeju Island in Korea. Also, the flora includes 1 taxon, Elaeocarpus sylvestris (Loureiro) Poiret var. ellipticus (Thunb.) Hara, of Korean natural monument, 2 taxa, Psilotum nudum (L.) Griseb. and Crypsinus hastatus (Thunb.) Copeland, of legally protected wildlife and plants, 38 taxa of naturalized plants, and 75 taxa of introduced plants.

Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute has developed high-temperature Printed Circuit Heat Exchangers (PCHE) for a Very High Temperature gas-cooled Reactor and operated a very high temperature Helium Experimental LooP (HELP) to verify the performance of the high temperature heat exchanger at the component level environment. PCHE is one of candidates for the intermediate heat exchanger in a VHTR, because its design temperature and pressure are larger than any other compact heat exchanger types. High temperature PCHEs in HELP consists of an alloy617 PCHE and an 800HT PCHE. This study presents the high temperature test of an 800HT PCHE in HELP. The thermal expansion is absorbed by tied global expansion joints, because the thermal stress by thermal expansion difference is not neglected in the high temperature test. The experimental data include the pressure drops, the overall heat transfer coefficients, and the surface temperature distributions at the various operating conditions. The experimental data are compared with the thermo-hydraulic analysis from COMSOL. In addition, the single channel tests are performed to quantify the friction factor at the normal nitrogen and helium inlet condition.

Nuclear Hydrogen Development and Demonstration (NHDD) system is a Very High Temperature gascooled Reactor (VHTR) coupled with hydrogen production systems. Intermediate heat exchanger transfers heat from the nuclear reactor to the hydrogen production system. This study presented the sensitivity analysis on a preliminary thermal sizing of the intermediate heat exchanger. Printed circuit heat exchanger (PCHE) was selected for the thermal sizing because the printed circuit heat exchanger has the largest compactness among the heat exchanger types. The analysis was performed to estimate the effect of key parameters including the operating condition of the intermediate system, the geometrical factors of the PCHE, and the working fluid of the intermediate system.
