        In order to demonstrate the effect of specific serum IgG antibody on the adherence of Streploco- zcus witarrs to smooth surface and the mechanism of effective adherince inbibition by IgG antibody, in the prepent study authors obtained purified 1'gG from different immunogen preparatiohs of S. mufans KCTC I04.49 (serotype c) and observed the effect of each IgG preparation on the adherence of each,S, virstans strain cultured in different conditions. In additiov, the presen( study was under- taken to observe the cross-reactivity of IgG and the eftect of sucrose concentration on the adherence of S. )eutpns in vitro non-growth conditian. The adherence of S. mutans to glass surface was effective]y inhibitecl by serum IgG antibody. At the same IgG concentrations, anti-2Fo fructose grown/1 N NaC1 washedI S. mutans NCTC lp449 cell showed greater a'dherence inJubitory effect to S. mutans strains .than anti 2Zo sccrose grown- .and anti-S. ruutans NCTC 10449 cell wall, and the greater inhibitory effects of Ig6 preparations were observed ia assay using 2z fructose grown S. mutans celI preparations tban using 0. Ip; uarose grown cell preparations. These results suggest that the more effective adherenee inhibition by serum IgG antibody is due to the reaciion with S. mutans cell surface antigens rather $lt;bpn glucan and celI-associated gIucosyltransferase. The greatest adherence inhibitory effeci. Of IgG to S. mulans strains was observed on homologous NCTC 10449 strain ancl the inhibition crogs-reactivities were observed betweein serotype c, e, and f strains. More pronounced cross-reactivity of adherence mhibition oI IgG to S. mutans vas observed in assay using anti-Zi fructose grown/I N XaCl wasbcd cell than using other IgG preparations, and observed in assay usmg 2.$quot;o fructose grosvn S. mutar:s cell preparations thRA'. 0, I a sucrose grown cef.l preparations. It was ir!terested that low, but adequa$lt;e concentration of reactive Igg antibody significantly increased the adherence ability of S, mgtaggg, This result may be due to the formation of srnall cell aggregates resulfed in a iaereage in tJ:e numbers af organisms whieh adhered to glass surface. The adherence of S. mutans to glass surface was possible in the a$sence of gluean-synthotie activity. Low level of sucrose sigdifkaetl increased the. Adherence ability vf S. mutans to glass surface, but excessive amount of suerose indueed Jarge cell aggr,egates reeulted in a decrease in the,aumbers of orgaaism which adbered.

        재충전이 가능한 LiMn2O4 전지시스템에서 Lipon 박막 고체 전해질의 전기화학적 특성 분석

        In order to investigate the origin of capacity fading with charge/discharge cycling in LiMn₂O₄ thin film battery, impedance studies have been performed as function of cycling in Li₂MnO₄/Lipon/1M LiClO₄/Li cells using the Lipon layer as blocking electrolyte for Mn dissolution into liquid electrolyte. The fitted values obtained from impedance analysis shows good agreements with the experimental results. The Warburg resistance of LiMn₂O₄ steadily increase with increasing the charge/discharge cycles, which can explain that capacity fading of LiMn₂O₄ thin film by cycling originated from the structural instability of LiMn₂O₄ due to Jahn-Teller distortion.

      • 장티푸스 경구 Vaccine의 유효성에 관한 연구

        Although earlier studies on the possibility of basing oral typhoid vaccines on heat killed Salmonella typhi Ty 2 have shown that some protection may be afforded, few workers have given serious consideration to the oral route of inoculation as a practical method for the prophylaxis-of typhoid fever. An attempt to use oral killed vaccines was also stimulated by the local immunity of the intestine after oral vaccination and many advantages as compared with subcutaneous vaccination. Hence, four types of oral vaccine, acetone, heat, alcohol, formalin killed typhoid vaccine, were= prepared experimentally with S. typhi Ty 2 and in order to examine the protective effect and immunogenic value of these different vaccines mice were vaccinated intragastrically-with one or several doses of 0:2-ml (1010 cells in saline) of vaccines respectively through a polyethylene tube at intervals of 3 hours. The mouse sera were tested for agglutinins 8 days later. Differences were found in the patterns-of S. typhi antibodies. In acetone, heat and alcohol killed vaccines 0 antibodies were found most frequently, and in order of Vi and H antibodies the frequency was low, while in formalin killed vaccine almost same, patterns of antibodies were shown and frequency of mice showing all three-antibodies was lower than in the other .vaccines in mice given IX 1010 to 4X 1010 cells. In general a large dose of vaccine was required to obtain the high frequency. In mouse, protection test 2 types of vaccine, acetone and heat killed vaccine, were employed. Mice were challenged peritoneallywith 100 LD50 (10' cells) viable S. typil Ty 2 in 5% muck_ 10 days after oral immunization with one or several doses of 0.2 ml (1030 cells) of vaccines. Acetone killed vaccine protected 50 percent of the mice immunized with 6X10" cells and.. challenged. (p <0.05) Heat killed vaccine did not protect mice given as many as 9 X.101° cells.

        제주도 목본식물자원의 분포특성

        - In this paper, it was discussed situations and necessities of conservation management strategy for the woodyplants resources in Jeju Island. Out of 320 taxa of the woody plants distributed in Jeju, there were 62 families, 136genus, 279 species, 28 varieties and 13 forma. Conifers, gymnosperms, were 3 families, 5 genus and 7 species as holding2.2% of total woody plants. Broad leaves, angiosperms, were 59 families, 131 genus, 272 species, 28 varieties and 13forma that were 313 taxa. Evergreens were 84 taxa consisting of 31 families, 45 genus, 72 species, 7 varieties and 5forma that make up 26.8% out of total angiosperms. Deciduous were 229 taxa (73.2%) consisting of 42 families, 93genus, 200 species, 21 varieties and 8 forma that were 122 trees (38.1%), 177 shrubs (55.1%) and 21 vine plants (6.8%).Life form spectra by dormancy, disseminule, radicoid and growth form were analysed. Thirty eight taxa including 17families, 21 genus, 14 species and 16 varieties out of 320 taxa growing Jeju were endemic to Korea and 22 taxa of themwere endemic to Jeju. The specific plant species among the woody plants in Jeju were 10 taxa in V grade, 24 taxa in IVgrade and 53 taxa in III grade. These are correspondence to those of nations as 12% of V grade, 7.6% of IV grade and17.2% of III grade.Key words - Jeju Island, Woody plants resources, Life form, Endemic

        Prospects of Using Bayesian Model Averaging for the Calibration of One-month Forecasts of Surface Air Temperature over South Korea

        In this study, we investigated the prospect of calibrating probabilistic forecasts of surface air temperature (SAT) over South Korea by using Bayesian model averaging (BMA). We used 63 months of simulation results from four regional climate models (RCMs) with two boundary conditions (NCEP-DOE and ERA-interim) over the CORDEX East Asia. Rank histograms and residual quantile-quantile (R-Q-Q) plots showed that the simulation skills of the RCMs differ according to season and geographic location, but the RCMs show a systematic cold bias irrespective of season and geographic location. As a result, the BMA weights are clearly dependent on geographic location, season, and correlations among the models. The one-month equal weighted ensemble (EWE) outputs for the 59 stations over South Korea were calibrated using the BMA method for 48 monthly time periods based on BMA weights obtained from the previous 15months of training data. The predictive density function was calibrated using BMA and the individual forecasts were weighted according to their performance. The raw ensemble forecasts were assessed using the flatness of the rank histogram and the R-Q-Q plot. The results showed that BMA improves the calibration of the EWE and the other weighted ensemble forecasts irrespective of season, simulation skill of the RCM, and geographic location. In addition, deterministic-style BMA forecasts usually perform better than the deterministic forecast of the single best member.

        미항공우주국(NASA)에서 처음 제안한 기술성숙도평가(TRA:Technology Readiness Assessment)와 기술준비수준(TRL:Technology Readiness Level)에 관하여 분석하여, 국방핵심기술 연구개발 제안서평가와 성과평가에 적용 타당성을 연구하였다. TRA 활용으로 정량적 성과달성 기준을 명확히 하여 평가의 객관성과 전문성을 제고하고, 기술개발 결과에 대한 신뢰성 있는 평가와 체계개발 적용 연계성에서 연구개발의 위험도를 줄일 수 있는 것으로 판단된다.

        Existing renewal projects of full tearing down of buildings are overall structurally problematic for those pursuing businesses, procurement of management expenses, base facility installation, and public support. In addition, when carrying out urban renewal projects, there are many problems in the overall process at the project planning stage, project management stage, project pursuit stage, and project deciding stage. The characteristics of the problems found at each project stage during urban renewal and those concerned clearly show the limitations of physical urban regeneration. Existing urban regenerations show many problems in the physical, economic and social aspects. It is therefore necessary to examine what problems exist in the three aspects and draw up projects for comprehensive urban regeneration. Meanwhile, the study discusses simple urban regeneration compared to comprehensive urban generation and presents a review of local legislation based on a survey of expert opinions on the "Special Act for Urban Regeneration Vitalization and Support" pursuing comprehensive urban regeneration. It also provides an analysis of the current state of renewing Gyeonggi-do. Continued interest in the legislation is necessary for it to reflect the opinions of the local government through active monitoring, among others, and the local government council should press the central government to reflect their opinions.
