The elastic waves released by inducing vickers indentation were detected by fracture wave detector. From the result of wavelet analysis of elastic wave signal, the smooth specimen and heat-treated crack healing specimen of 0.3 ㎛ Al₂O₃ monolithic and Al₂O₃/SiC composite ceramics had characteristics of frequency about 58 ㎑. The dominant frequencies increased with increasing the amount of Y₂O₃. It is known that wave frequency of homogeneous materials is converged on around dominant frequency. The dominant frequency has direct connection with the bending strength.

Recently the performance of CO₂ arc welding machine has been advanced significantly through the adoption of inverter circuit topology which made it possible to control the waveform of welding current and thus to suppress the spatter generation However, the optimum waveform is still uncertain. As a first step for figuring out the promising waveforms, this study was performed to set-up the experimental system for study the effect of waveform variables The overal system is controlled digital controller using single chip microprocessor of 80C196KC. As a result of performance test of this system, it was demonstrated all of the waveform variables could be set individually and the generated spatter is reduced compare to conventional inverter arc welding machine.<br/> <br/>

This study is on the finite element analysis of new conceptual flange fastener in plant pipe line. In the past, there are many problems in bolting the flange fasteners of complex pipe lines of plant. For example, they do not coincide with the holes of flange fasteners each other. so we need much time to correct them and are now confronted with danger to bolting fastener. So it is important to develop new flange fastener in order to these problems. We carry out stresse and deformation distribution using finite element analysis in case of two conditions. This technology can apply to bolt fasteners in refinery, FPSO, Subsea, Drilling Oil & Gas fields.

Maintaining steam turbine path packing clearances is critical to maintaining thermal efficieny between major overhauls. Therefore, the retractable packings that provide a large clearance during turbine startup and reduced clearance after unit has synchronized can minimize rubs while providing optimum sealing when the unit is loaded. This paper presents details of a retractable packing design assuring that all stages of the bearings can be used in HP-IP turbine. Also in this paper the analyzing results from the proposed mathematical model verifies the truth through the experiment.
