Status of the PLS-II Magnet Design and Fabrication

The only 3rd generation synchrotron light source in Korea, which is operated by the Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL), is planning a major upgrade of the PLS to meet the more demanding requirements of the synchrotron light users. The main features of the major upgrade are (1)increasing the electron beam energy from 2.5 GeV to 3.0 GeV for higher energy X-ray photons, (2)decreasing the electron beam emittance from 18.9 nm to 5.8 nm to increase the photon brilliance,and (3) increasing the number of straight sections to increase the number of insertion devices from 10 to 20 to meet the demand for insertion devices. In the upgraded PLS (PLS-II), there will be 24combined function dipole magnets, 96 quadrupole magnets, and 96 sextupole magnets with some auxiliary magnets for electron beam injection. In this report, the physical design features, and the mechanical aspects of the magnet design are described.

대부분의 제품을 만들 때 그 기준은 젊은 사람들의 기준으로 만들어 진다. 이것들은 노인들이 사용하는 노인용품을 만드는데 있어서 적절하지 않은 기준이다. 노인들이 사용하는 제품을 만드는데 있어서 노인들의 기준을 적용하기 위해 실측자료를 기반으로 데이터베이스의 구축이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 노인들을 대상으로 하는 시각 기능 측정 시스템을 구축하기 위해 landoltC환과 contrast를 이용한 암순응과 glare를 이용하여 생활시력을 측정하고, 측정된 자료들을 이용하여 데이터 베이스를 구축하고자 한다.

This study has been performed to investigate the thermal performance of variable conductance heat pipe(VCHP) with meshed wick. The length of condenser port in a VCHP is varied by expansion of inert gas with the operation temperature of VCHP and the heat transport capacity is thus varied with the operating temperature. In this study, numerical evaluation of the VCHP is made in the thermal performance of VCHP, based on flat front model for diffusion of inert gas. Ammonia is used as a working fluid and nitrogen as a control gas in the aluminum tube. As a result, the thermal performance of VCHP has been compared with that of CCHP by the variation of operation temperature. Maximum heat transport capacity is mainly presented for operation temperature and the variation of operation temperature also presented for heat flow rate.

This study has been performed to investigate the thermal performance of variable conductance heat<br/> pipe(VCHP). A VCHP, which contains a fixed quantity of non-condensible gas in addition to the<br/> primary heat transfer fluid, is used to maintain the small variation of surface temperature in a<br/> evaporator with the fluctuation of heat flow rate. The length of condenser port in a VCHP is varied<br/> by expansion of non-condensible gas with the operation temperature of VCHP. Water is used as a<br/> working fluid and nitrogen as non-condensible gas in the copper tube. It is found that the temperature<br/> profiles have been influenced by the interaction between working fluid and non-condensible gas in the<br/> condenser port from flat front mode.
