In this paper, we present a case study of vibration suppression based on the application of active damping to the small boring process of a boring bar with diameter below Φ12. The proposed active damping system consists of an acceleration sensor for real-time monitoring of the vibration signal, a driver for phase control in a computer program, and piezoelectric actuators for damping. In this system, the vibration signals are detected by the acceleration sensor and sent to the computer as an input. The phase shift parameter of the natural frequency of the input signal is sent to the data acquisition board in the computer and calculated by the phase control program. This study confirmed the effectiveness of this damping system, and it opens up the possibility of the development of active damping systems for small boring processes.

In the design of passive and active boring bars, the structural dimensions and shape of the vibration control boring bar are modified depending on the diameter and depth of the workpiece, which changes the dynamic behavior. Thus, the natural frequency, effective mass, and stiffness for the main structure of a tube-type boring bar need to be reset for each vibration control case. However, commercial finite element method (FEM) software and experimental modal analysis are mostly used at present despite being too time-consuming. To overcome the weaknesses of the two methods currently used for vibration control, we realized a graphical user interface (GUI) program for the modal analysis of a modified tube-type damping structure. The analysis results with the GUI program were compared to those with commercial FEM software in order to confirm the effectiveness of the former.

The purpose of the study is to use simple structure and low price optical fiber sensor to measure the intraocular pressure. The eyeball can be regarded as airtight container which loaded by means of an internal pressure and the corneal surface is transparent film. In this study, condom was used instead of the corneal and connected with hollow cylinder to consist of airtight container. Then the condom vibration characteristics were measured by optical fiber sensor. IOP will be obtained for Using the Correlation between IOP and vibration.
A Study on the Design Model of Passive Tunable Damped Boring Bar

Boring depth is limited by the overhang on which the vibration frequency depends. To improve the process, a passive boring bar with dynamic vibration absorber has been used, but is effective only for a limited length of overhangs. In this study, a tunable damped boring bar was devised to cope with a variable length of overhangs. Vibration parameters arising from the various overhangs were analyzed using Euler’s beam theory. The proposed bar contains a cantilever-type dynamic vibration absorber to suppress the vibration amplitudes of the overhangs. The absorber adjusts the natural frequency of the bar by adjusting the spring stiffness. The proposed bar was fabricated and tested by impact excitation and its capability to suppress vibration was demonstrated.

In this study, we developed a counting method for non-contact ID cards using an optical fiber displacement sensor instead of the traditionally used friction counting method. The proposed method has the advantage of high speed and automated measurement. For counting non-contact ID cards, an H-type optical fiber sensor, jig part, and counting program are developed separately to build the system and adjust it. Through the experimental test results, it was confirmed that counting is possible with one type of international ID card and one type of financial security cardbased on ISO7810. Furthermore, by applying the proposed method to 100 ID cards 100 times repeatedly, it was confirmed that it has high accuracy and an error ratio of 0%. We experimentally demonstrated that the proposed counting method for non-contact ID cards using an optical fiber displacement sensor can perform measurements with high accuracy and high speed.

Chattering in cutting operations are usually a cumbersome part of the manufacturing process in mechanical. Particular, machining performance such as that of the boring process is limited by cutting condition at the movable components. Among various sources of chatter vibration, detrimental point in cutting condition is found a mechanical condition on overhang. It limits cutting speed, depth, surface roughness and tool wear failure as result because the all properties are varying with the metal removal process. In this case, we have to observe the resonance frequencies of a boring bar for continuous cutting. In the established research, boring bar vibration of cutting system has been measured with the aid of accelerometer. However, the inherent parameters of internal turning operations are severely limit for the real time monitoring on accelerometers. At this point, this paper is proposed other method for real time monitoring during continuous cutting with optical fiber at the inside of boring bar. This method has been used a plastic fiber in the special jig on boring bar by based on experimental modal analysis. In this study, improvement of monitoring system on continuous internal cutting was attempted using optical fiber sensor of inside type because usually chattering is investigated experimentally measuring the variation in chip thickness. It is demonstrated that the optical fiber sensor is possibility to measure of chattering with real time in boring process.

The purpose of this paper lies in verification the possibility in counterfeit discrimination with excellent confidence as well as easy way of using for the general, as a consequence of a design or manufacture appropriate optical fiber sensor for counterfeit discrimination using wave length of a visible ray zone. The light was altered by lightening optical fiber sensor to particular part of banknotes in order to displacement response of optical fiber sensor. The experiment was processed with data of 100 banknotes on manufacture optical fiber, probe, jig. As a result, It was verified that discriminate counterfeit when the experiment was processing with hologram or CSI on the banknotes with three kinds of color printer.
