Composite beams are generally designed to resist to the gravity and horizontal load. However, when these are used to underground buildings, the axial force by earth pressure should be considered in the design. This paper presents the experimental result of the composite beam subjected to both constant axial and various bending moments. Main parameters in the test are magnitude, loading time of axial force and composite ratio. It is shown that the axial force and the composite ratio increase the flexural strength of the beam while these reduce the deformability.
