Pseudonym-based Privacy Protection Scheme for Participatory Sensing with Incentives

( Junsong Zhang ),( Lei He ),( Qikun Zhang ),( Yong Gan ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2016 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.10 No.11

Participatory sensing applications rely on recruiting appropriate participants to share their surrounding conditions with others, and have been widely used in many areas like environmental monitoring, health care, and traffic congestion monitoring, etc. In such applications, how to ensure the privacy of a participant is important, since incentive mechanisms are used to maintain their enthusiasm for sustainable participation by offering certain amount of reward. In this paper, we propose a pseudonym-based privacy protection scheme, that takes both privacy protection and user incentives into consideration. The proposed scheme uses the pseudonym mechanism and one-way hash function to achieve user incentives, while protecting their identity. We also show extensive analysis of the proposed scheme to demonstrate that it can meet the security and performance the requirement of a participatory sensing application.

A Secure and Efficient Remote User Authentication Scheme for Multi-server Environments Using ECC

( Junsong Zhang ),( Jian Ma ),( Xiong Li ),( Wendong Wang ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2014 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.8 No.8

With the rapid growth of the communication technology, intelligent terminals (i.e. PDAs and smartphones) are widely used in many mobile applications. To provide secure communication in mobile environment, in recent years, many user authentication schemes have been proposed. However, most of these authentication schemes suffer from various attacks and cannot provide provable security. In this paper, we propose a novel remote user mutual authentication scheme for multi-server environments using elliptic curve cryptography (ECC). Unlike other ECC-based schemes, the proposed scheme uses ECC in combination with a secure hash function to protect the secure communication among the users, the servers and the registration center (RC). Through this method, the proposed scheme requires less ECC-based operations than the related schemes, and makes it possible to significantly reduce the computational cost. Security and performance analyses demonstrate that the proposed scheme can solve various types of security problems and can meet the requirements of computational complexity for low-power mobile devices.

      • A Chebyshev-Map Based One-Way Authentication and Key Agreement Scheme for Multi-Server Environment

        Zengyu Cai,Yuan Feng,Junsong Zhang,Yong Gan,Qikun Zhang 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.9 No.6

One-way authentication and key agreement scheme can achieve strong user anonymity and transmitted data confidentiality over insecure public communication channel, which is very useful for the user who cares about his/her identity information. In conventional networks, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is a very useful component to design one-way authentication key agreement scheme. However, it will consume large amounts of computing resources. Therefore, it is inappropriate to PKI in a resource-constrained environment. In this paper, we proposed a new one-way authentication and key agreement scheme based on Chebyshev chaotic map. Compared with the related research activities, our proposed scheme has not only the high efficiency and unique functions, but also robust to various attacks and achieves perfect forward secrecy. Security and performance analyses demonstrate that the proposed scheme can solve various types of security problems and can meet the requirements of computational complexity for low-power mobile devices.

Temporal and Spatial Traffic Analysis Based on Human Mobility for Energy Efficient Cellular Network

( Zhigang Li ),( Xin Wang ),( Junsong Zhang ),( Wei Huang ),( Ye Tian ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2021 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.15 No.1

With the drastic growth of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry, global energy consumption is exponentially increased by mobile communications. The huge energy consumption and increased environmental awareness have triggered great interests on the research of dynamic distribution of cell user and traffic, and then designing the energy efficient cellular network. In this paper, we explore the temporal and spatial characteristics of human mobility and traffic distribution using real data set. The analysis results of cell traffic illustrate the tidal effect in temporal and spatial dimensions and obvious periodic characteristics which can be used to design Base Station (BS) dynamic with sleeping or shut-down strategy. At the same time, we designed a new Cell Zooming and BS cooperation mode. Through simulation experiments, we found that running in this mode can save about 35% of energy consumption and guarantee the required quality of service.

      • Functionally graded shape memory alloys: Design, fabrication and experimental evaluation

        Shariat, Bashir S.,Meng, Qinglin,Mahmud, Abdus S.,Wu, Zhigang,Bakhtiari, Reza,Zhang, Junsong,Motazedian, Fakhrodin,Yang, Hong,Rio, Gerard,Nam, Tae-hyun,Liu, Yinong Elsevier 2017 Materials & Design Vol.124 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Functionally graded shape memory alloys have the advantage of combining the functionalities of the shape memory effect and those of functionally graded structures. By proper design, they can exhibit new and complex deformation behaviour that is unmatched in uniform shape memory alloys. One obvious advantage of functionally graded shape memory alloys is their widened transformation stress and temperature windows that provide improved controllability in actuating applications. This paper reports on the concept, fabrication, experimentation and thermomechanical behaviour of several designs of functionally graded NiTi alloys, including compositionally graded, microstructurally graded and geometrically graded NiTi alloys, and the various techniques that may be used to create these functionally graded materials. It is found that the property gradients created along the loading direction or perpendicular to the loading direction produce distinct thermomechanical behaviours. The property gradient along the loading direction provides stress gradient over stress-induced transformation, which can be adjusted by the property gradient profile. The property gradient through the thickness direction of plate specimens and perpendicular to the loading direction provides four-way shape memory behaviour during stress-free thermal cycling after tensile deformation.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Functionally graded shape memory alloys provide widened transformation stress and temperature windows in actuation application. </LI> <LI> The property gradient was achieved in three ways: microstructural gradient, compositional gradient and geometrical gradient. </LI> <LI> Property gradients created along the loading direction or perpendicular to that direction produce distinct thermomechanical behaviours. </LI> <LI> A variety of techniques has been proposed for fabricating functionally graded shape memory alloy structures. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

SKP2 Contributes to AKT Activation by Ubiquitination Degradation of PHLPP1, Impedes Autophagy, and Facilitates the Survival of Thyroid Carcinoma

        Chongwen Xu,Yuan Shao,Wanli Ren,Hao Dai,Fangli Yang,Xiang Li,Shaoqiang Zhang,Junsong Liu,Xiaobao Yao,Qian Zhao,Xin Sun,Zhiwei Zheng 한국분자세포생물학회 2023 Molecules and cells Vol.46 No.6

Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is the most common subtype of thyroid carcinoma. Despite a good prognosis, approximately a quarter of PTC patients are likely to relapse. Previous reports suggest an association between S-phase kinase-associated protein 2 (SKP2) and the prognosis of thyroid cancer. SKP1 is related to apoptosis of PTC cells; however, its role in PTC remains largely elusive. This study aimed to understand the expression and molecular mechanism of SKP2 in PTC. SKP2 expression was upregulated in PTC tissues and closely associated with clinical diagnosis. In vitro and in vivo knockdown of SKP2 expression in PTC cells suppressed cell growth and proliferation and induced apoptosis. SKP2 depletion promoted cell autophagy under glucose deprivation. SKP2 interacted with PH domain leucine-rich repeat protein phosphatase-1 (PHLPP1), triggering its degradation by ubiquitination. Furthermore, SKP2 activates the AKT-related pathways via PHLPP1, which leads to the cytoplasmic translocation of SKP2, indicating a reciprocal regulation between SKP2 and AKT. In conclusion, the upregulation of SKP2 leads to PTC proliferation and survival, and the regulatory network among SKP2, PHLPP1, and AKT provides novel insight into the molecular basis of SKP2 in tumor progression.

Mast Cell-dependent Mesenteric Afferent Activation by Mucosal Supernatant From Different Bowel Segments of Guinea Pigs With Post-infectious Irritable Bowel Syndrome

( Jun Song ),( Lei Zhang ),( Tao Bai ),( Wei Qian ),( Rui Li ),( Xiaohua Hou ) 대한소화기기능성질환·운동학회 2015 Journal of Neurogastroenterology and Motility (JNM Vol.21 No.2

Background/Aims Mesenteric afferent nerves (MANs) play a pivotal role in the visceral-nociceptive perception. Inappropriate activation of MANs may be involved in the pathogenesis of post-infectious irritable bowel syndrome (PI-IBS). However, the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. We assessed the effects of mucosal mediators from different bowel segments of guinea pigs with PI-IBS on MAN firing and the role of mast cells. Methods PI-IBS was induced in guinea pigs by Trichinella spiralis infection. Inflammation in terminal ileum, proximal and distal colon was scored with hematoxylin-eosin staining, and mast cell infiltration was assessed with immunofluorescence. We determined the effects of supernatant extracted from the mucosa of different bowel segments of PI-IBS on MANs activity, and assessed the role of mast cells in this process. Results Eight weeks after infection, intestinal inflammation resolved, whereas mast cell numbers increased significantly in terminal ileum and proximal colon (P < 0.05) compared with findings in controls. Mucosal supernatant from different bowel segments of PI-IBS models, but not from controls, significantly enhanced the frequency of MAN firing (terminal ileum 41.01 ± 7.60 Hz vs. 26.55 ± 0.67 Hz, P = 0.001; proximal colon 45.90 ± 11.20 Hz vs. 30.88 ± 6.92 Hz, P = 0.002; distal colon 48.25 ± 9.70 Hz vs. 29.47 ± 6.13 Hz, P < 0.001). In addition, the excitatory effects were inhibited by mast cell stabilizer Nasmil (terminal ileum, 32.71 ± 2.52 Hz, P = 0.030; proximal colon, 30.94 ± 4.44 Hz, P = 0.002; distal colon, 27.15 ± 5.83 Hz, P < 0.001). Conclusions Supernatant from the intestinal mucosa of different bowel segments of PI-IBS models markedly enhanced the MAN firing in a mast cell-dependent manner, indicating that mast cell-mediated MAN activation plays an important role in the pathogenesis of PI-IBS.
