Rare earth-free white emitting (Sr,Sn)(Zn,Mn)P2O7 phosphors were synthesized in a single phase form by a conventional solidstate reaction method and photoluminescent properties were characterized. These phosphors showed three broad band in emission spectra at 340, 440, and 690 nm, and the ratio of emission intensity between blue-green light and red light changes with Mn2+ content increasing because of energy transfer from Sn2+ to Mn2+. The emission color of the phosphors varied from blue-white to orange-white with the increase in the Mn2+ content and the emission color of the (Sr0.90Sn0.10)(Zn0.97Mn0.03)P2O7 phosphor was very close to white light.
Depression Promotes the Onset of Irritable Bowel Syndrome through Unique Dysbiosis in Rats

Background/Aims: Although studies using conventional animal models have shown that specific stressors cause irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), it is unclear whether depression itself causes IBS. Our aim was to establish a rat model to determine if depression itself promotes the onset of IBS and to elucidate the role of gut microbiota in brain-gut axis pathogenesis during coincident depression and IBS. Methods: Rat models of depression were induced using our shuttle box method of learned helplessness. Visceral hypersensitivity was evaluated by colorectal distension (CRD) to diagnose IBS. Gut microbiota compositions were analyzed using high-throughput sequencing. In the subanalysis of rats without depression-like symptoms, rats with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) were also examined. Results: The threshold value of CRD in depressed rats was significantly lower than that in control rats. Microbial community analysis of cecal microbiota showed that the relative abundance of Clostridiales incertae sedis, the most prevalent microbe, was significantly lower in depressed rats than in control rats. The distribution pattern of the microbiota clearly differed between depressed rats and control rats. Neither visceral hypersensitivity nor the composition of gut microbiota was altered in rats with PTSD-like phenotypes. Conclusions: Our rat model of depression is useful for clarifying the effect of depression on IBS and suggests that depression itself, rather than specific stressors, promotes the onset of IBS. Further, we provided evidence that various psychiatric diseases, viz., depression and PTSD, are associated with unique gut microbiota profiles, which could differentially affect the onset and progression of coincident IBS. Optical and Near-infrared Polarimetry of Non-periodic Comet C/2013 US10 (Catalina)

<P>We present an optical and near-infrared (hereafter NIR) polarimetric study of a comet C/2013 US10 (Catalina) observed on UT 2015 December 17-18 at phase angles of alpha - 52 degrees.1-53 degrees.1. Additionally, we obtained an optical spectrum and multi-band images to examine the influence of gas emission. We find that the observed optical signals are significantly influenced by gas emission; that is, the gas-to-total intensity ratio varies from 5 to 30% in the RC and 3%-18% in the I-C bands, depending on the position in the coma. We derive the 'gas-free dust polarization degrees' of 13.8% +/- 1.0% in the RC and 12.5% +/- 1.1% in the IC bands and a gray polarimetric color, i.e., -8.7% +/- 9.9% mu m(-1) in optical and 1.6% +/- 0.9% mu m(-1) in NIR. The increments of polarization obtained from the gas correction show that the polarimetric properties of the dust in this low-polarization comet are not different from those in high-polarization comets. In this process, the cometocentric distance dependence of polarization has disappeared. We also find that the RC-band polarization degree of the southeast dust tail, which consists of large dust particles (100 mu m(-1) mm), is similar to that in the outer coma where small and large ones are mixed. Our study confirms that the dichotomy of cometary polarization does not result from the difference of dust properties, but from depolarizing gas contamination. This conclusion can provide a strong support for similarity in origin of comets.</P>
