        Recently, as the infocomindustry is developed, the semiconductor industry as well as the optical industry such as the optical communication and the optical instrument is developed rapidly. The transmission, storage and processing of information has been reaching an limit because amounts of information increase rapidly. The more quickly the optical communication is developed, the more sharply the demand of optical elements increase. The transport and inspection process is time consuming and the error rate is high, because this process are not automated in case of an optical lens. In this paper, the pick-up system that can hold optical elements and be transferred by the ultrasonic transport system is developed. The inspection system that distinguishes between the existence and the nonexistence of a defect is connected easily to pick-up system. The pick-up system separates the optical glass lens by results of the inspection. The automation program is developed by visual c++ programming.

        광 픽업 성능 평가기 캘리브레이션

        Optical pick-up is a core component for data read/write operations in optical disc drives, and an optical pick-up performance evaluator is an instrument used to analyze the overall performance of an optical pick-up. Due to inevitable errors in an analog measurement circuit, resultant evaluation data is not guaranteed to be accurate. In this paper, a calibration method for an optical pick-up performance evaluator is proposed to ensure evaluation accuracy. Measured data is corrected by a 1st order correction function, and a calibration process based on least-square method is utilized to obtain correction coefficients of the correction function. The proposed calibration method is applied to experiments, and enhanced accuracy is presented with resultant evaluation data.

        DVD Pick-up Based Optical Detection for Diffusive Mixing in Microchannels

        Microfluidics deals with behavior, precise control, and manipulation of fluids at a micro scale. It has become increasingly prevalent in various applications, such as biomedical applications, inkjet heads, fuel cells, etc. The issue of mixing in microfluidic channels is often crucial in design, fabrication, and detection of microfluidic devices. In this paper, we propose a new optical method to characterize diffusive mixing in two types of microchannels (Y-type microchannel and premixer gradient generator). In order to measure the mixing of fluidic streams, we use an optical method using a DVD pick-up module, which is widely employed in optical storage systems installed within PCs or laptops. By injecting fluorescent dye into a solution, we measure the fluorescent intensities across the microchannels in order to visualize and quantify diffusive mixing. Experimental micrographs are compared with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations. We show that our proposed optical scanner can be used as an alternative measurement system with high performance and cost-effectiveness in comparison with conventional optical tools such as epifluorescent microscopes and confocal microscopes.

        DVD 광픽업 헤드를 활용한 저가 교육용 현미경 연구

        현미경을 다루는데 있어 현미경의 원리를 이해하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 본 연구에서는 DVD optical pick-up head (이하 OPH)를 활용하여 광경로를 직접 눈으로 볼 수 있어서 현미경 원리 파악에 도움이 되는 저렴한 가격의 현미경 시스템을 구현하였다. 실험 과정은 광원에서 나온 빛을 시료와 렌즈에 순차적으로 통과시키고, 이 정보를 CCD 카메라에서 검출하는 것으로 이루어졌다. DVD OPH 내부의 렌즈를 꺼내어 두 렌즈의 상대적 거리에 따른 성능 차이를 알아보았다. 또한, 광원을 백색 광원으로 실험한 결과와 반도체 레이저로 실험한 결과를 비교하여 광원에 따른 배율의 차이를 알아보았다. 그 결과 백색 광원일 때 반도체 레이저에 비해 해상도가 2배 이상 높았고, 현미경 시스템과 CCD 카메라의 거리가 20 cm일 때 약 150배의 배율을 보였다. When the microscope is used, it is very important to understand the principle of microscopy. In this study, relatively cheaper microscope was realized which utilizes a DVD OHP (optical pick-up head) therefore, the light path can be seen so it is helpful to understand the principle of microscopy. The experimental process was composed of transmitting the light through the sample and lenses successively and detecting the information included in light by CCD camera. The performance of microscope was observed by changing the relative distances of two getting out lenses of DVD OPH. Also, the difference of magnification was observed by comparing the results obtained by the experiments using white light and semiconductor laser beam as light sources. The result shows that the resolution with white light was two times higher than that with semiconductor and the magnification was about 150 when the distance between microscope system and CCD camera was 20 cm.

      • 역기전력을 이용한 슬림형 광 픽업의 연성 해석 및 비연성 제어기 설계

        A novel method to measure the interaction movement, focusing direction and tracking direction in an optical pick-up, is proposed and the decoupling control for it is discussed. First, the basic principle of the coupling analysis method using back electromotive force is introduced. Second, the interaction analysis between focusing direction and tracking direction for commercial slim type actuator is performed using the proposed method. Finally, the coupling analysis and decoupling control for the slim type optical pick-up are discussed. From the brief simulation, we shows that the effectiveness and validity of the proposed method.

        광 Pickup 용 Gradient-Index 대물렌즈 설계

        SELFOC 소재를 사용하여 높은 수치구경을 가지는 광픽업용 대물렌즈를 설계하였다. SELFOC 소재는 radial gradient-index 분포를 가지며, 이것은 설계에 추가적인 자유도를 제공하므로, 비구면이 아닌 구면만으로 높은 수치구경의 대물렌즈의 설계가 가능하다. 이 연구에서는 quadratic constant와 광축의 굴절률, 광축 두께, 입사동 직경을 변화시키며 rms 스폿 직경 변화를 조사하였으며, Code V를 사용하여 대물렌즈의 최적화와 결상특성을 평가하였다. 이 분석에서는 quadratic constant와 광축의 굴절률이 클수록, 렌즈가 두꺼워질수록, 입사동 직경은 작을수록 더 좋은 특성을 보임을 알 수 있었다. 이 결과를 바탕으로 2매의 구면 SELFOC 렌즈로 구성된 높은 NA의 DVR용 대물렌즈를 설계하였으며, 2가지 형태의 해 Solution I, II가 존재하였다 Solution I은 두 매 모두 양의 굴절능을 가지며 compact한 광학계를 구성하지만, 비축 수차 보정이 Solution II에 비해 부족하였다. Solution II는 음-양의 굴절능으로 조합된 광학계로 비축 수차가 비교적 잘 보정되었지만, 광학계의 전장길이가 길고 렌즈의 직경이 커지는 문제점이 있었다. High NA objective design by using SELFOC materials was studied, and two kinds of objective for optical pick-up were designed. The SELFOC materials have radial gradient index distribution, and it gives additional degree of freedom in optical design. Therefore, we expect that optical design of high NA objective without aspheric surface will be possible. In this study, the variation of ms spot diameter was investigated as a function of quadratic constant and refractive index on axis for various combinations of axial thickness and entrance pupil diameter. For the survey, Code V was used for optimization and evaluation of the objective lenses. The result suggested that larger quadratic constant and higher refractive index on axis could give us better imaging performance for all combinations of axial thickness and pupil diameter. Based on the survey, we designed high NA objectives for DVR. There were two kinds of design solution consisting two spherical SELFOC lenses. The solution I had positive-positive lens configuration with short over-all-length, but it had poor off-axial performance compared with the solution II. The solution II had negative-positive lens configuration with good off-axial imaging performance. But the solution II had some disadvantages, long over-all-length and large diameter of the second lens.

      • CAE 기법을 이용한 정보저장시스템의 Fanless 열설계

        This study suggested fanless thelmal design using CAE technique for the information storage system under the serious themlal problem. At first, main heat 11o\v was controlled by CAE based fanless heat sink design not to influence sensitive optical pick -up sensor. Then, vent parametric studies found a thermal solution about highly concentrated case top heat due to fan less. These CAE results were verified by experimental methods. As a consequence of ne\vly designed thermal path, thermal specification of optical pick-up sensor was satisfied and fan less thenmll design for the information storage system was achieved.

        광픽업 스캔 장치를 이용한 미소 구조물의 표면 측정

        MEMS 기술이 발전함에 따라 MEMS 공정으로 제작된 미소 구조물들의 검사 및 특성 분석이 매우 중요한 문제로 떠오르고 있다. 그러나 주사 전자현미경(SEM)이나 원자현미경(AFM) 그리고 기계적 표면측정장치 등은 가격적인 측면에서나 방법적인 측면에서 많은 단점을 안고 있다. 본 논문에서는 DVD 광픽업 장치를 이용하여 미소구조물을 높이를 측정하였다. 미소구조물 시편에서 반사된 빛의 강도를 측정하여 시편의 영상을 만들어냈고 미소구조물의 높이는 포토다이오드에서 측정된 포커스에러신호(FES)을 통해 구할 수 있었다. 제시된 광 픽업 스캐너는 기존 측정 장치와 비교하여 저렴한 비용으로 정밀한 측정이 가능함을 보여주었고, 기존의 기술을 대체할 수 있는 시스템으로 사용될 수 있을 것이다. The issue of inspection and characterization of microstructures has emerged as a major consideration in design, fabrication, and detection of MEMS devices. However, the conventional measurement techniques, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM) imaging, atomic force microscopy (AFM) scanning, and mechanical surface profiler, require often destructive process or may be difficult to measure with a wafer scale. In this paper, we characterize the surface profiles of microstructures using an optical scanner based on a DVD pick-up module. Scanning images of the microstructures are successfully generated using the intensity of reflected light from different depths of the surface profiles, based on the focus error signal (FES) from photodiodes. It is shown that the proposed optical scanner can be used as an alternative measurement system with high performance and low cost, compared to conventional measurement techniques.
