FOUNDATIONS OF THE THEORY OF VECTOR RELATORS

        Arp´ad Sz´az 장전수학회 2010 Advanced Studies in Contemporary Mathematics Vol.20 No.1

A nonvoid family R of binary relations on a nonvoid set X is called a relator on X. In particular, a relator R on a vector space X is called a vector relator on X if (1) R(x) = x + R(0) for all R ∈ R and x ∈ X;(2) R(0) is an absorbing balanced subset of X for all R ∈ R;(3) for each R ∈ R there exists S ∈ R such that S (0) + S (0) ⊂ R(0) . Vector relators are more convenient means than vector topologies. They are mainly motivated by the fact that if P is a nonvoid family of preseminorms on X,then the collection RP of all surroundings Bpr = { (x, y) : p (x − y) < r } , where p ∈ P and r > 0 , is a vector relator on X. Postulates (1) – (3) imply that R is a reflexive, symmetric, uniformly transitive and well-chained relator on X such that each member of R is a balanced translation relation. Moreover, it is also noteworthy that if in particular each member of P is a seminorm, then the members of RP are, in addition, convex. Therefore, before studying the most fundamental properties of vector relators, and the linearity properties of their induced basic tools, we shall briefly list some basic properties of translation, balanced and convex relations. Moreover, we shall greatly improve and supplement some relevant former results on relators.

The multiple merger assembly of a hyperluminous obscured quasar at redshift 4.6

        Dí,az-Santos, T.,Assef, R. J.,Blain, A. W.,Aravena, M.,Stern, D.,Tsai, C.-W.,Eisenhardt, P.,Wu, J.,Jun, H. D.,Dibert, K.,Inami, H.,Lansbury, G.,Leclercq, F. American Association for the Advancement of Scienc 2018 Science Vol.362 No.6418

<P><B>Mergers drive a powerful dusty quasar</B></P><P>Massive galaxies in the early Universe host supermassive black holes at their centers. When material falls toward the black hole, it releases energy and is observed as a quasar. Astronomers found a population of powerful distant quasars that are obscured by dust, but it has been unclear how they are formed. Díaz-Santos <I>et al.</I> observed the dust-obscured quasar WISE J224607.56-052634.9 at submillimeter wavelengths, finding three small companion galaxies connected to the quasar by bridges of gas and dust. They inferred that galaxy mergers can provide both the raw material to power a quasar and large quantities of dust to obscure it.</P><P><I>Science</I>, this issue p. 1034</P><P>Galaxy mergers and gas accretion from the cosmic web drove the growth of galaxies and their central black holes at early epochs. We report spectroscopic imaging of a multiple merger event in the most luminous known galaxy, WISE J224607.56−052634.9 (W2246−0526), a dust-obscured quasar at redshift 4.6, 1.3 billion years after the Big Bang. Far-infrared dust continuum observations show three galaxy companions around W2246−0526 with disturbed morphologies, connected by streams of dust likely produced by the dynamical interaction. The detection of tidal dusty bridges shows that W2246−0526 is accreting its neighbors, suggesting that merger activity may be a dominant mechanism through which the most luminous galaxies simultaneously obscure and feed their central supermassive black holes.</P>

Effect of Tomato Industrial Processing (Different Hybrids, Paste, and Pomace) on Inhibition of Platelet Function In Vitro, Ex Vivo, and In Vivo

        Rosio Rodríguez-Azúa,Adriana Treuer,Rodrigo Moore-Carrasco,Daniel Cortacáns,Margarita Gutiérrez,Luis Astudillo,Eduardo Fuentes,Iván Palomo 한국식품영양과학회 2014 Journal of medicinal food Vol.17 No.4

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death worldwide. Healthy eating is among its safeguards, especially the daily intake of fruits and vegetables. In this context it has been shown that tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) presents antiplatelet activity. In the present study, we evaluated in vitro antiplatelet activity of fresh hybrid tomato process (nine hybrids: Apt 410, H 9888, Bos 8066, Sun 6366, AB3, HMX 7883, H 9665, H 7709, and H 9997), paste and its byproduct of industrial processes (pomace). We assessed antiplatelet activity ex vivo and bleeding time in rats that ingested 0.1 and 1.0 g/kg of pomace each day. In studies in vitro, no significant differences in antiplatelet activity was observed in fresh tomato hybrids. Furthermore, the agro-industrial process did not affect the antiplatelet activity of paste and pomace. Likewise, pomace intake of 1.0 g/kg per day prolonged bleeding time and reduced ex vivo platelet aggregation in rats. The data obtained indicate that tomato has one or more compounds that caused antiplatelet activity. Regular consumption of tomato and its industrial derivatives could be part of a CVD prevention regimen.

A Dimeric Triterpenoid Glycoside and Flavonoid Glycosides with Free Radical-Scavenging Activity Isolated from Rubus rigidus var. camerunensis

        Télesphore Benoît Nguelefack,Félicité Hermine Kamga Mbakam,Léon Azéfack Tapondjou,Pierre Watcho,Elvine Pami Nguelefack-Mbuyo,Beaudelaire Kemvoufo Ponou,Albert Kamanyi,박희준 대한약학회 2011 Archives of Pharmacal Research Vol.34 No.4

The aerial part of Rubus rigidus var. camerunensis (Rosaceae) is used to treat respiratory and cardiovascular disorders in the Cameroonian traditional medicine. The ethanol extract exhibited more potent antioxidant activity (E_maxs of 119% and 229% activity on DPPH and β-carotene test) than aqueous extract. Bioactivity-guided fractionation of the ethanol extract based on free radical-scavenging assay (DPPH assay) afforded five flavonoid glycosides (four flavonol glycosides and an anthocyanin) and three glucosides of 19α-hydroxyursane-type triterpenoid (two monomeric and one dimeric triterpenoids). The flavonoids were identified as kaempferol 3-O-(2´´-O-E-p-coumaroyl)-β-D-glucopyranoside (1), kaempferol-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (astragalin, 2), kaempferol-3-O-α-L-arabinofuranoside (juglanin, 3), quercetin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (isoquercitrin, 4), pelargonidin-3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (callistephin, 5). The three triterpenoids were 2α, 3β, 19α, 23-tetrahydroxyurs-12-ene-28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (nigaichigoside F1, 6), 2α, 3β, 19α-trihydroxyurs-12-ene-23-carboxyl-28-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl ester (suavissimoside R_1, 7) as monomeric triterpenoids and coreanoside F_1 (8) as a dimeric triterpenoid. The flavonoids exhibited potent antioxidant activities (66 to 93.56% against DPPH radical) and they were also active on β-carotene test. Coreanoside F_1 exhibited a 63% antioxidant activity, meanwhile the other two triterpenoids showed a weak activity. Three important facts on structure-activity relationship were observed: Compound 8, a dimeric triterpenoid glycoside, strongly enhanced antioxidant activity of its monomers, compound 3 with 3-O-α-L-arabinofuranyl has much more potent activity than compound 2 with 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl, and antocyanin (5) is more potent than its corresponding flavonol glycosides.

Restoration and conservation of anatomic pieces

        Camila Cá,rdenas Guerrero Guzmá,n,Karen Alejandra Pé,rez Dí,az,Marí,a Paula Ruí,z Dí,az,Valentina Dí,az,nchez,André,s Camilo Ariza Aguirre,Laura Catalina Can 대한해부학회 2019 Anatomy & Cell Biology Vol.52 No.3

In this study, a restoration process was developed with potassium hydroxide (KOH), in order to improve each of the structures for their posterior fixation, through the use of new methods such as the Chilean conservative fixative solution (SFCCh), with exceptional results. Restore anatomical pieces corresponding to corpse and organs, being these last set with the SFCCh. In this work dealt with processes of restoration with potassium hydroxide, sodium chloride, and sodium hypochlorite, the process began with the cleanliness and suture of the structures for subsequent fixing in Chilean conservative fixative solution, making use of a corpse and different anatomical parts. Work based on items found in the database, Elsevier, Science Direct, ProQuest, and MEDLINE. At the end of the process of restoration and conservation of the anatomical pieces, was observed an improvement in muscle pigment with decrease of rigidity in the specimen, additionally a recovery of appearance in the vascular-nervous elements was achieved. The organs were much more malleable and the structures facilitate the identification of specific details, its subsequent immersion in SFCCh allows the longer preservation of the obtained results. The restoration with potassium hydroxide allows the improvement in the appearance of the different anatomical structures and simultaneously to facilitate its study. The SFCCh is an alternative that replaces partially the use of formaldehyde. In addition, it presents toxicity reduction.

      • Defining Dusun Identity in Brunei

Asiyah az-Zahra Ahmad Kumpoh 부산외국어대학교 아세안연구원 2016 Suvannabhumi Vol.8 No.2

This qualitative study was designed to explore the definition of ethnic identity of the Dusuns in Brunei Darussalam from the perspective of Shamsul A.B.’s (1996) “everyday-defined” social reality. The purpose of this study was twofold. Firstly, by employing Phinney’s (1996) formulation of ethnic identity, this study examined the existence of core components of ethnic identity, namely, ethnic self-identification, ethnic involvement, positive attitude towards ethnic group, and sense of belonging in the life of the Dusuns. Secondly, by utilizing Phinney’s (1996) three-stage model of ethnic identity formation, this study investigated the relationship between core components and the formation process of ethnic identity. Twenty-six Dusun informants ranging in age from 8 to 80 years old were interviewed for the purpose of this study. The analysis of the interview data revealed that all core components exist and evolve in the life of the Dusuns. Different perspectives towards core components can also be identified across different age groups. Adult informants contested the relevance of ethnic involvement in view of socio-cultural transformations that occurred within the ethnic group, whereas younger Dusuns were not able to extend sense of belonging outside their family. These findings lead to the identification of family and historical contexts as influential factors that shape the ways the informants experienced the ethnic identity components. Further, the findings of this study indicate the relationship between core components and the formation process of ethnic identity. Sense of belonging and community is only evident in the experience of older informants, sufficient to help them reach the stage of achieving ethnic identity. This also shows a positive sequential relation between the stages in Phinney’s ethnic identity model and the age of the informants. Interestingly, evidence on internalized sense of belonging reveals the fact that an individual could still attain ethnic identity achievement even without experiencing all components of ethnic identity. Once again, this study suggests contextual factors play a role in the stage progression of the Dusuns’ ethnic identity.

A Case Report of Failure to Thrive Caused by Parental Intellectual Disability: The Invisible Population

Atirah Az-Zahrah Abu Bakar,Azidah Abdul Kadir,Nur Suhaila Idris 대한가정의학회 2021 Korean Journal of Family Medicine Vol.42 No.5

This case illustrates the medical complication of a child that arose as a consequence of parents with intellectual disabilities in a primary care setting. A 9-month-old girl presented with multiple admissions because of recurrent pneumonia and was later diagnosed with failure to thrive based on child neglect resulting from the parents’ disabilities. This exemplifies a failure to thrive case with a complex and undiagnosed psychosocial background that required interdepartmental involvement to mitigate the health problem.
