Eddy Loss Analysis and Parameter Optimization of the WPT System in Seawater

        Ke-Han Zhang,Zheng-Biao Zhu,Luo-Na Du,Bao-Wei Song 전력전자학회 2018 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.18 No.3

Magnetic resonance wireless power transfer (WPT) in the marine environment can be utilized in many applications. However, energy loss in seawater through eddy loss (EL) is another consideration other than WPT in air. Therefore, the effect of system parameters on electric field intensity (EFI) needs to be measured and ELs calculated to optimize such a system. In this paper, the usually complicated analytical expression of EFI is simplified to the product of frequency, current, coil turns, and a coefficient to analyze the eddy current loss (ECL). Moreover, as the calculation of ECL through volume integral is time-consuming, the equivalent eddy loss impedance (EELI) is proposed to help designers determine the optimum parameters quickly. Then, a power distribution model in seawater is conceived based on the introduction of EELI. An optimization flow chart is also proposed according to this power distribution model, from which a prototype system is developed which can deliver 100 W at 90% efficiency with a gap of 30 mm and a frequency of 107.1 kHz.

      • Efficacy and Safety of Trastuzumab Added to Standard Treatments for HER2-positive Metastatic Breast Cancer Patients

Zhu, Zhen-Li,Zhang, Jun,Chen, Mei-Lan,Li, Ke Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.12

Introduction: Trastuzumab, an HER2-targeting agents, has shown efficacy in metastatic HER2-positive breast cancer patients. Single-agent clinical trials have evaluated therapeutic regimens using trastuzumab for metastatic breast cancer patients. The aim of our study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of trastuzumab in combination with chemotherapy or hormone therapy in HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer patients. Methods: A literature research was conducted in PubMed and to identify appropriate studies from relevant reviews. Randomized controlled trials comparing chemotherapy or hormone therapy regimens in combination with trastuzumab were eligible. Dadta on clinical outcomes, including safety, efficacy, and patient characteristics were collected. Results: Seven articles describing five trials were included in our systematic review and meta-analysis. Partners of trastuzumab included in trials were anthracycline, paclitaxel, docetaxel, anastrozole and letrozole. The addition of trastuzumab to chemotherapy improved the overall survival (HR=0.79, 95%CI 0.65-0.96), while to hormone therapy did not (HR=0.85 95%CI 0.56-1.30). All trastuzumab-containing regimens increased cardiac toxicity (RR=3.37, 95%CI 1.26-9.02) and grade III-IV adverse events. Conclusions: Our study supports the addition of trastuzumab to chemotherapy which is effective and tolerated for metastatic breast cancer with HER2+ patients. Of note, more adverse events will occur followed the use of trastuzumab, especially cardiac toxicity, with two treatment regimens.

Transcriptome analysis of the pheromone glands in Noorda blitealis reveals a novel AOX group of the superfamily Pyraloidea

        Zhang Zu-Bing,Yin Ning-Na,Long Ji-Ming,Zhang Yong-Ke,Liu Nai-Yong,Zhu Jiaying 한국응용곤충학회 2021 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.24 No.1

Noorda blitealis (Lepidoptera: Pyraloidea: Crambidae) is a major defoliating pest of Moringa trees. Focusing on its mating and reproduction, here we sequenced and analyzed the transcriptome of its pheromone glands (PGs) with a combination of Illumina sequencing, bioinformatics and phylogenetics approaches, coupled with a genomebased analysis. Transcriptome sequencing led to the yields of approximately 162 million clean reads, which were assembled into 60,578 unigenes and 121,692 transcripts, respectively. From the transcriptome, totally 117 genes encoding eight pheromone biosynthesis enzymes and one pheromone degradation enzyme were identified, 90 of which had complete open reading frames. A comparative analysis between PGs and bodies (removing PGs) revealed a large number of differentially expressed genes, including 79 pheromone biosynthesis and degradation related genes. Of the identified genes, NbliDES12 belonging to the △11 desaturase group was likely to a strong candidate for the desaturation of sex pheromones in N. blitealis, as implied by phylogenetic analyses and expression profiles. Finally and most notably, through genome and transcriptome analyses we discovered, for the first time, a novel aldehyde oxidase 6 (AOX6) group of the superfamily Pyraloidea that have been slightly expanded by gene duplications. Moreover, each orthologous AOX group shared highly conserved gene structure. Together, this current study has characterized the genes associated with sex pheromone biosynthesis and degradation from the PG transcriptome of N. blitealis, and more importantly, identifies a novel AOX group of the Pyraloidea.

Patterned growth of ZnO nanorods and their field emission properties

        Ning Zhang,Ke Yu,Yongsheng Zhang,Wei Bai,Ziqiang Zhu 한국물리학회 2009 Current Applied Physics Vol.9 No.1

Patterned zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods were fabricated on the different patterned silicon nanocrystallite (SiNC) substrates via a simple thermal evaporation method without any catalyst. The as-synthesized products were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. The efficient field emission with low turn-on and threshold field, 3.5 V/㎛ and 8.1 V/㎛, was obtained. The experimental results demonstrate that these products could be one of the promising candidates for field emission displays. Molecular characterization and ligand-binding properties of six odorantbinding proteins (OBPs) from Aphis gossypii

        Xue-Ke Gao,Shuai Zhang,Jun-Yu Luo,Chun-Yi Wang,Li-Min Lü,Li-Juan Zhang,Xiang-Zhen Zhu,Li Wang,Jin-Jie Cui 한국응용곤충학회 2018 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.21 No.3

Odorant-binding proteins (OBPs) play a significant role in the olfactory signal transduction of insects and help them locate hosts, oviposition sites, and mating partners. The sap-sucking insect, Aphis gossypii Glover (Homoptera: Aphididae), is a destructive cosmopolitan pest and yet the molecular mechanisms by which A. gossypii perceives pheromones and host volatiles remain unknown. In this study, we identified and characterized 6 OBPs, using the A. gossypii RNA-seq transcriptome dataset previously constructed in our laboratory. Real-time PCR indicated specific expression patterns of the 6 genes, which had different levels of expression based on development stage, tissue, morph, and life cycle. In addition, binding specificities of the 6 proteins investigated using the ligand-binding assays showed that all 6 OBPs exhibited high binding affinities towards Phlorizin dehydrate while AgosOBP3 and AgosOBP4 had strong affinity to beta-ionone and AgosOBP8 displayed higher binding affinities for Nerolidol and Cis-3-hexenyl acetate compared to other OBPs.

Sciatic nerve leachate of cattle causes neuronal differentiation of PC12 cells via ERK1/2 signaling pathway

        Ziqiang Zhang,Yumei Liu,Xuemin Zhu,Lan Wei,Jiamin Zhu,Ke Shi,Guotao Wang,Li Pan 대한수의학회 2018 Journal of Veterinary Science Vol.19 No.4

Previous studies have shown that the sciatic nerve has neurotrophic activity, and nerve regeneration, differentiation, and axon outgrowth can be modulated by different sciatic nerve preparations. However, numerous animals may have to be sacrificed to obtain enough sciatic nerves to make a sciatic nerve preparation. Some studies have demonstrated that the role of sciatic nerve preparations in neural differentiation depends on the neurotrophins that Schwann cells secrete, and these factors are highly conserved among different species. To reduce the use of experimental animals, in this study, we made a leachate by using the sciatic nerve of cattle and explored its effect on neuronal differentiation of rat PC12 cells (a useful model for studying neuronal differentiation). Results showed the neurite outgrowth of PC12 cells treated with the cattle sciatic nerve leachate for 3, 6, and 9 days was significantly improved, and the expressions of β3-tubulin and microtubule-associated protein 2 (two neuron-specific proteins) were increased. Moreover, the ERK1/2 signaling pathway was activated after PC12 cells were incubated with cattle sciatic nerve leachate for 9 days. Thus, a sciatic nerve leachate obtained from cattle can effectively induce neuronal differentiation of rat PC12 cells via ERK1/2 signaling pathway.

Effect of bamboo shoot dietary fiber on gel properties, microstructure and water distribution of pork meat batters

        Li Ke,Liu Jun-Ya,Fu Lei,Zhao Ying-Ying,Zhu He,Zhang Yan-Yan,Zhang Hua,Bai Yan-Hong 아세아·태평양축산학회 2020 Animal Bioscience Vol.33 No.7

Objective: To develop healthier comminuted meat products to meet consumer demand, the gel properties, rheological properties, microstructure and water distribution of pork meat batters formulated with various amounts of bamboo shoot dietary fiber (BSDF) were investigated. Methods: Different levels of BSDF (0% to 4%) were added to pork batters, and the pH, color, water-holding capacity, texture and rheological properties of pork batters were determined. Then, pork batters were analyzed for their microstructure and water distribution using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and low-field nuclear magnetic resonance (LF-NMR). Results: Compared with the control, BSDF addition into meat batters showed a significant reduction in L*-value and a significant increase in b*-value (p<0.05). BSDF addition of up to 4% reduced the pH value of pork batters by approximately 0.15 units; however, the cooking loss and expressible water loss decreased significantly (p<0.05) with the increased addition of BSDF. The hardness and gel strength were noticeably enhanced (p<0.05) as the content of BSDF increased. The rheological results showed that BSDF added into pork batters produced higher storage modulus (G′) and loss modulus (G″) values. The SEM images suggested that the addition of BSDF could promote pork batters to form a more uniform and compact microstructure. The proportion of immobilized water increased significantly (p<0.05), while the population of free water was decreased (p<0.05), indicating that BSDF improved the water-holding capability of pork batters by decreasing the fraction of free water. Conclusion: BSDF could improve the gel properties, rheological properties and water distribution of pork meat batters and decrease the proportion of free water, suggesting that BSDF has great potential as an effective binder in comminuted meat products.
