Proposed test of the gravitational Inverse-Square-Law at submillimeter scale using torsion pendulum

Zhong-Kun Hu,Jun Luo,Bang-Ming GU 한국물리학회 2004 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.45 No.1

Motivated by extra dimensional theories that predict new eects, experimental search for the deviation from Newtonian gravitational Inverse-Square Law (ISL) was proposed. We are testing the ISL at the separation of about 0.1 mm by means of a torsion pendulum with the at plate shape test and source masses. Electrostatic feedback force keeps the torsion pendulum in its rest position and the current force sensitivity is about 10က15 N.

      • Current Progress in the Treatment of Metaplastic Breast Carcinoma

        Hu, Qing,Chen, Wei-Xian,Zhong, Shan-Liang,Li, Jian,Luo, Zhou,Tang, Jin-Hai,Zhao, Jian-Hua Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.11

Metaplastic breast cancer (MBC) is a rare type of breast carcinoma, characterized by various combinations of mesenchymal, adenocarcinoma and other epithelial components. MBC often manifests as a large mass, with low axillary lymph node involvement and poor prognosis. Knowledge and treatment patterns about MBC demographics, presentation and tumor characteristics are very limited. In clinical practice, MBC is usually treated based on the guidelines developed for infiltrating ductal carcinoma (IDC). The ideal treatment paradigm for MBC is unknown due to its low incidence and pathological variability, so potential predictors of treatment efficacy need to be explored. This review summarizes the current models and strategies for MBC according to the published literature.

        信息技術發展與嚴播組織權利保護制度的重塑

        胡開忠 東國大學校 比較法文化硏究所 2008 比較法硏究 Vol.8 No.2

Abstract: Owing to great development of contemporary information technology, it is easier to transmit broadcast programs illegally, thus the rights of broadcast organization are menaced to be violated seriously increasingly, however, the protection system of broadcast organization based on the Roman Convention does not meet the demands of information technology development gradually. So international intellectual property organization has managed and drew up new plan for broadcast organization rights protection and enlarged the rights of broadcast organization ,but the plan is also criticized by the governments and corporations in some developing countries and some developed countries. We should pay close attention to the newest trends of rights protection of international broadcast organization, make timely amendment on our Copyright Law, and pay attention to protection of the justified interests of the public while protecting broadcast organization rights.

Impedance Identification Using Tactile Sensing and Its Adaptation for an Underactuated Gripper Manipulation

        Zhong-Yi Chu,Shao-Bo Yan,Jian Hu,Shan Lu 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2018 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.16 No.2

Underactuated gripper has a broad application in the field of space robot and industrial robot because of its better shape-adaptation. However, because of the underactuated characteristics, it is a great challenge to accurately obtain the displacement of the contact point between the finger and grasped object, which makes it difficult to control the gripper grasp stably, especially the environmental parameters are unknown. This paper develops the identification of the unknown environmental parameters using a tactile array sensor based on the recursive leastsquares (RLS) method. The unknown environments are described as linear systems with unknown dynamics, and the environmental parameters are identified using the measured contact force and the derived displacement of the contact point which is obtained through the underactuated gripper dynamics. Meanwhile, an impedance adaptive control is presented to match the variability of the environment parameters, and the desired impedance model is imposed to the underactuated gripper to achieve stable grasp. A cost function that measures the contact force, velocity and displacement error is defined, and the critical impedance parameters are found to minimize it. At last, a co-simulation of ADAMS and MATLAB for an underactuated gripper grasp is implemented to show the feasibility of environmental parameters identification and its adaptive method.

Buckling optimization of unsymmetrically laminated plates under transverse loads

        Hu, Hsuan-Teh,Chen, Zhong-Zhi Techno-Press 1999 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.7 No.1

The critical buckling loads of unsymmetrically laminated rectangular plates with a given material system and subjected to combined lateral and inplane loads are maximized with respect to fiber orientations by using a sequential linear programming method together with a simple move-limit strategy. Significant influence of plate aspect ratios, central circular cutouts, lateral loads and end conditions on the optimal fiber orientations and the associated optimal buckling loads of unsymmetrically laminated plates has been shown through this investigation.

      • Predictive V16alue of Thymidylate Synthase Expression in Gastric Cancer: A Systematic Review with Meta-analysis

        Hu, Hua-Bin,Kuang, Lei,Zeng, Xiao-Min,Li, Bin,Liu, En-Yi,Zhong, Mei-Zuo Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.1

Purpose: The relationship between thymidylate synthase (TS) expression and outcomes in gastric cancer (GC) patients remains controversial, although most studies reported poor survival and reduced response to fluoropyrimidine were related to high TS in tumors. We carried out a systematic review of the literature with meta-analysis to estimate the predictive value of TS expression from published studies. Methods: We indentified 24 studies analysing the outcome data in gastric cancer stratified by TS expression. Effect measures of outcome were hazard ratios (HRs) for overall survival (OS) and event-free survival (EFS), or the odds ratio (OR) for overall response rate (ORR). HRs and ORs from these eligible studies were pooled using random-effects meta-analysis. Results: Fifteen studies investigated outcomes in a total of 844 patients with advanced GC, and nine studies investigated outcomes in a total of 1,235 patients with localized GC undergoing adjuvant therapy. Meta-analysis of estimates showed high TS expression was significantly associated with poor OS in the advanced setting (HR: 1.43, 95%CI: 1.08 - 1.90), and poor EFS in the adjuvant setting (HR: 1.53, 95%CI: 1.01 - 2.32). Subgroup analysis demonstrated TS expression to haves even greater value in predicting OS, EFS and ORR in advanced GC patients treated with fluoropyrimidine monotherapy (HR for OS: 2.32, 95%CI: 1.53 - 3.50; HR for EFS: 1.76, 95%CI: 1.19 - 2.60; OR for ORR: 0.32, 95%CI: 0.11 - 0.95). Conclusion: High levels of TS expression were asssociated with a poorer OS for advanced GC patients compared with low levels. In the adjuvant setting, high TS expression was also associated with a worse EFS. Additional studies with consistent methodology are needed to define the precise predictive value of TS.

A 90-day Repeated-Dosed Toxicity Study of Euphorbiae kansui radix Extract in Fischer 344/N Rats

        Zhong-Ze Han,Hu-Song Zhang,Ki-Hyun Gil,Joo-Young Lee,Kwang-Han Kong,Myoung-Kyu Han,Hyun-Ju Yang,Hak-Soo Kim,Do-Hyung Kim,Tae-Hwan Ahn,Jin-Sook Bae,Hyun-Kyu Ko,Jung-Woon Lee,Moon-Soon Kim,Si-Whan Song 한국실험동물학회 2008 Laboratory Animal Research Vol.24 No.4

This study was performed to evaluate repeated-dose toxicities of Euphorbiae kansui radix extract in F344/N rats. Euphorbiae kansui radix extract was administered orally to rats at dose levels of 0, 37, 111, 333, 1,000 and 2,000 ㎎/㎏/day. Each group consisted of 10 rats of each gender. The Euphorbiae Kansui, Radix extract was given once a day, 5 times a week, for 90 day repeatedly. This study was conducted in accordance with the Protocol of Korea National Toxicology Program (issued by National Institute of Toxicological Research) and The Standards of Toxicity Study for Medicinal Products (issued by Korea Food and Drug Administration). In the present study, there were no dose-related changes in mortality, clinical signs, body weights, ophthalmoscopy, urine analysis, hematological findings, estrus cycle and sperm examination of all animals treated with Euphorbiae kansui radix extract. There were increases of liver weights in 2,000 ㎎/㎏/day groups of males and in 333, 1,000 and 2,000 ㎎/㎏/day groups of females. There were decreases of alkaline phosphatase levels in 1,000 and 2,000 ㎎/㎏/day groups of both sexes. These results suggest that the oral no-observed-adverse-effect level (NOAEL) of the test item, Euphorbiae kansui radix extract, in rats is 2,000 ㎎/㎏/day in both genders; no-observed-effect level (NOEL) is 1,000 ㎎/㎏/day in male and 111 ㎎/㎏/day in female. The target organs were thought to be liver and thymus.

Dissolved-oxygen-stat Fed-batch Fermentation of 1,3-Dihydroxyacetone from Glycerol by Gluconobacter oxydans ZJB09112

        Zhong-Ce Hu,Yu-Guo Zheng,Yin-Chu Shen 한국생물공학회 2010 Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering Vol.15 No.4

This study investigated the effects of DO concentration on DHA fermentation and of DO-stat fed-batch fermentation using a pH control strategy, on 1,3-dihydroxyacetone (DHA) production. The results showed that DO-stat fed-batch fermentation with pH-shift control was the optimal bioprocess for DHA production. DO-stat fedbatch fermentation was carried out at 30% air saturation, and the culture pH was automatically maintained at pH 6.0during the first 20 h and then shifted to pH 5.0 until the end of the fermentation. An optimal DHA concentration of 175.9 ± 6.7 g/L, with a production yield to glycerol of 0.87 ± 0.04 g/g, was obtained at 72 h of DO-stat fed-batch fermentation at 30°C in a 15 L fermenter.

Model Predictive Control based Discontinuous PWM Algorithm for 3L-NPC Inverter

Zhong Liping,Hu Song 대한전기학회 2022 Journal of Electrical Engineering & Technology Vol.17 No.1

This paper proposes a novel model predictive control based discontinuous PWM strategy for 3L-NPC inverter. Through the model predictive control principle and special output level sequence arrangement, the optimal voltage vector and zero sequence voltage are selected, so that the neutral point voltage can be controlled on the basis of discontinuous modulation strategy, thus achieve the purpose of balancing the neutral point voltage and reducing the switching loss. Because there are most three elements in the control set, the calculation of this method is quite simple. Compared with carrier based PWM and space vector PWM, it does not need vector synthesis and complex zero sequence voltage calculation, so it is easy to implement. Experimental results verify the validity of the method.
