Quasi average consensus of discrete time hybrid agents with heterogeneous dynamic nodes, i.e. the nodeswith mixed first order and second order integrators is touched upon here. To be different from the already existingresults, the consensus protocol for the hybrid order agents must be refined into two different sub protocols, one isfor the first order agents, and the other is for the second order agents; and on account of the couplings betweenthe velocity and the position of the second order agents, the ultimate goal of the consensus of the position of allthe agents can only be made possible in the pre-requisite of the velocity of the second order agents being driven tozero. And even further, the reconfiguration of agent states were made to ease the peer to peer information exchangeanalysis of positions among all the agents, and velocities among the second order agents. Simulations are also beingoffered to demonstrate the effectiveness of the suggested scheme further.
Causes, Features, and Outcomes of Drug-Induced Liver Injury in 69 Children from China

Background/Aims: Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) is a frequent cause of pediatric liver disease; however, the data on DILI are remarkably limited. Methods: All 69 children hospitalized with DILI between January 2009 and December 2011 were retrospectively studied. Results: A total of 37.7% of the children had medical histories of respiratory infection. The clinical injury patterns were as follows: hepatocellular 89.9%, cholestatic 2.9%, and mixed 7.2%. Liver biopsies from 55 children most frequently demonstrated chronic (47.3%) and acute (27.3%) hepatitis. Hypersensitivity features, namely, fever (31.9%), rash (21.7%), and eosinophilia (1.4%), were found. Twenty-four children (34.8%) developed chronic DILI. Antibiotics (26.1%) were the most common Western medicines (WMs) causing DILI, and the major implicated herbs were Ephedra sinica and Polygonum multiflorum. Compared with WM, the children whose injuries were caused by Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) showed a higher level of total bilirubin (1.4 mg/dL vs 16.6 mg/dL, p=0.004) and a longer prothrombin time (11.8 seconds vs 17.3 seconds, p=0.012), but they exhibited less chronic DILI (2/15 vs 18/39, p=0.031). Conclusions: Most cases of DILI in children are caused by antibiotics or CHM used to treat respiratory infection and present with hepatocellular injury. Compared with WM, CHM is more likely to cause severe liver injury, but liver injury caused by CHM is curable. (Gut Liver 2015;9:525-533)

Aiming at the optimal placement of communication relay nodes (OPCRN) problem in manned/unmanned aerial vehicle cooperative engagement system, this paper designed a kind of fully connected broadband backbone communication topology. Firstly, problem description of OPCRN was given. Secondly, based on problem analysis, the element attributes and decision variables were defined, and a bi-level programming model including physical layer and logical layer was established. Thirdly, a hierarchical artificial bee colony (HABC) algorithm was adopted to solve the model. Finally, multiple sets of simulation experiments were carried out to prove the effectiveness and superiority of the algorithm.
Identification of a Novel Human Zinc Finger Gene, ZNF438, with Transcription Inhibition Activity

There were many different families of zinc finger proteins that contained multiple cysteine and/or histidine residues and used zinc to stabilize their folds. The classical C2H2 zinc finger proteins were the founding members of this superfamily and were among the most abundant proteins in eukaryotic genomes. C2H2 proteins typically contained several C2H2 fingers that made tandem contacts along the DNA. Here we reported a novel C2H2 type zinc finger gene, ZNF438, which encoded 828 amino acids that formed five zinc finger domains. Bioinformatics analysis revealed that the ZNF438 was mapped to human chromosome 10p11.2 and shared 62% identity with rat and mouse homologues. RT-PCR analysis indicated that it was ubiquitously expressed in 18 human adult tissues. With immunofluorescence assay, it was shown that the exogenous Flag-tagged ZNF438 was located in nucleus of COS-7 cells. To further explore the function of ZNF438, we examined the transcriptional activity of ZNF438 protein by transfecting recombinant pM-ZNF438 into mammalian cells. The subsequent analysis based on the duel luciferase assay system showed that ZNF438 was a transcriptional repressor.
The Use of Molecular Markers to Certify Clubroot Resistant Cultivars of Chinese Cabbage

Chinese cabbage cultivated in most area of Korea is subjected to the most serious clubroot disease caused by Plasmodiophora brassicae Wor. A number of clubroot resistant (CR) cultivars were released or in development. We have previously tagged CR locus (CRb) within 3 cM flanked by two co-dominant markers (TCR01 and TCR05) and one dominant marker (TCR09). Thirty-seven CR cultivars and ten non-CR cultivars were collected to study the utility of these DNA markers. In addition, markers (BRMS096, BRMS088, and OPC11-2S) linked to Crr1, Crr2, and Crr3, respectively, were evaluated. Of the surveyed CR cultivars, 18 carried marker fragment TCR01₂?? and TCR05₂?? linked to CRb in coupling. Evaluation of these cultivars to race 4 of clubroot revealed that all of them conferred resistance. Other CR cultivars absent of TCR01₂?? and TCR05₂?? were either resistant or susceptible. Only OPC11-2S linked to Crr3 can explain the two CR cultivars showing susceptible, while others cannot. Analysis of European Clubroot Differential set 01 to 04 indicate that marker fragment TCR05₂?? with the CRb locus, possibly also TCR01₂??, was introgressed from CR turnip into partial CR cultivars of Chinese cabbage. The usefulness of these markers in marker-assisted selection was also discussed.

The temperature of blood pumps and other left ventricular assistance devices (LVAD) increases during operation due to the effects of the electromagnetic drive and mechanical work. The blood is heated when passing through an LVAD. Temperature can influence erythrocytes' mechanical properties and erythrocytes' threshold shear stress for hemolysis in shear flow. A nonlinear two-dimensional membrane model was introduced based on the linear spring network model and nonlinear worm-like-chains (WLC) model. The simulation of erythrocytes in shear flow was performed in the framework of the immersed boundary-lattice Boltzmann method (IB-LBM). When the shear stress was set to the often-cited threshold for hemolysis of 400~Pa and the temperature was 37$^\circ$C, the free energy change of the erythrocyte membrane was calculated to be 3.5\:$\times$\:$10^{-15}$J, which was defined as the threshold value of erythrocytes' membrane energy change for hemolysis. As the temperature rose to 39$^\circ$C, 41$^\circ$C and 43$^\circ$C, the shear stress varied from 200 to 400~Pa, the free energy changed, and the shape parameters were studied. By comparing the threshold energy changes, we found the threshold shear stress values at 39$^\circ$C, 41$^\circ$C and 43$^\circ$C to be 340, 315 and 295~Pa, respectively. Whether red blood cells (RBCs) are damaged when passing through an LVAD can be determined according to these data. This work should provide a basis for LVAD design and optimization.
Quantitative Assessment of the Diagnostic Role of CDH13 Promoter Methylation in Lung Cancer

In order to explore the association between cadherin 13 (CDH13) gene promoter methylation and lung carcinoma (LC) risk, we carried out a meta-analysis with searching of PubMed, Web of Science. Ultimately, 17 articles were identified and analysised by STATA 12.0 software. Overall, we found a significant relationship between CDH13 promoter methylation and LC risk (odds ratio=6.98, 95% confidence interval: 4.21-11.56, p<0.001). Subgroup analyses further revealed that LC risk was increased for individuals carrying the methylated CDH13 compared with those with unmethylated CDH13. Hence, our study identified a strong association between CDH13 gene promoter methylation and LC and highlighted a promising potential for CDH13 methylation in LC risk prediction.
