The Current Practice of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging for Congenital Heart Disease in Asia: A Survey to Promote a Better Future Practice

        Yu-Min Zhong,Suvipaporn Siripornpitak,Rong-Zhen Ouyang,Wei-Hui Xie,구현우 아시아심장혈관영상의학회 2021 Cardiovascular Imaging Asia Vol.5 No.4

Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) is an important noninvasive diagnostic imaging modality for evaluating children with congenital heart disease. However, pediatric CMR is not widely performed in Asia. This survey was conducted to check the current status of our clinical practice of pediatric CMR. Results from a web-based questionnaire were obtained from 12 hospitals in seven Asian countries. The questionnaire inquired about hospital size and type, staffing and operators, MRI scanner specifications, contrast agent type(s) and intravenous injection method(s), sedation, CMR protocols, clinical indications, postprocessing software, major research topics, major obstacles to clinical practice and research, and the expectation of education. This survey demonstrated that pediatric CMR protocols mostly correlate with expert consensus statements from other societies. Limited resources and high workloads were primary obstacles to clinical practice and research. The development of abbreviated protocols and good education programs may be helpful to improve our situation.

Preparation, Structural Investigation and Thermal Decomposition Behavior of Two High-Nitrogen Energetic Materials: ZTO·2H2O and ZTO(phen)·H2O

Ma, Cong,Huang, Jie,Zhong, Yi Tang,Xu, Kang Zhen,Song, Ji Rong,Zhang, Zhao Korean Chemical Society 2013 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.34 No.7

Two new high-nitrogen energetic compounds $ZTO{\cdot}2H_2O$ and $ZTO(phen){\cdot}H_2O$ have been synthesized (where ZTO = 4,4-azo-1,2,4-triazol-5-one and phen = 1,10-phenanthroline). The crystal structure, elemental analysis and IR spectroscopy are presented. Compound 1 $ZTO{\cdot}2H_2O$ crystallizes in the orthorhombic crystal system with space group Pnna and compound 2 $ZTO(phen){\cdot}H_2O$ in the triclinic crystal system with space group P-1. In $ZTO(phen){\cdot}H_2O$, there is intermolecular hydrogen bonds between the -NH group of ZTO molecule (as donor) and N atom of phen molecule (as acceptor). Thermal decomposition process is studied by applying the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermo thermogravimetric differential analysis (TG-DTG). The DSC curve shows that there is one exothermic peak in $ZTO{\cdot}2H_2O$ and $ZTO(phen){\cdot}H_2O$, respectively. The critical temperature of thermal explosion ($T_b$) for $ZTO{\cdot}2H_2O$ and $ZTO(phen){\cdot}H_2O$ is $282.21^{\circ}C$ and $195.94^{\circ}C$, respectively.

      • Knockdown of HMGN5 Expression by RNA Interference Induces Cell Cycle Arrest in Human Lung Cancer Cells

        Chen, Peng,Wang, Xiu-Li,Ma, Zhong-Sen,Xu, Zhong,Jia, Bo,Ren, Jin,Hu, Yu-Xin,Zhang, Qing-Hua,Ma, Tian-Gang,Yan, Bing-Di,Yan, Qing-Zhu,Li, Yan-Lei,Li, Zhen,Yu, Jin-Yan,Gao, Rong,Fan, Na,Li, Bo,Yang, Jun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.7

HMGN5 is a typical member of the HMGN (high mobility group nucleosome-binding protein) family which may function as a nucleosomal binding and transcriptional activating protein. Overexpression of HMGN5 has been observed in several human tumors but its role in tumorigenesis has not been fully clarified. To investigate its significance for human lung cancer progression, we successfully constructed a shRNA expression lentiviral vector in which sense and antisense sequences targeting the human HMGN5 were linked with a 9-nucleotide loop. Inhibitory effects of siRNA on endogenous HMGN5 gene expression and protein synthesis were demonstrated via real-time RT-PCR and western blotting. We found HMGN5 silencing to significantly inhibit A549 and H1299 cell proliferation assessed by MTT, BrdU incorporation and colony formation assays. Furthermore, flow cytometry analysis showed that specific knockdown of HMGN5 slowed down the cell cycle at the G0/G1 phase and decreased the populations of A549 and H1299 cells at the S and G2/M phases. Taken together, these results suggest that HMGN5 is directly involved in regulation cell proliferation in A549 and H1299 cells by influencing signaling pathways involved in cell cycle progression. Thus, our finding suggests that targeting HMGN5 may be an effective strategy for human lung cancer treatment.

Study on the Transmission Error Prediction for a Spur Gear Pair

        Qi Zhang(장기),Jing Zhang(장정),Zhong Gang Zhu(주충강),Zhen Rong Wang(왕진영),Zhe-zhu Xu(허철수),Sung Ki Lyu(류성기) Korean Society for Precision Engineering 2016 한국정밀공학회지 Vol.33 No.2

Nowadays, lower gear vibration and noise are necessary for drivers in automotive gearbox, which means that transmission gearbox should be optimized to avoid noise annoyance and fatigue before quantity production. Transmission error (T.E.) is the excitation factor that affects the noise level known as gear whine, and is also the dominant source of noise in the gear transmission system. In this paper, the research background, the definition of T.E. and gear micro-modification were firstly presented, and then different transmission errors of loaded torques for the spur gear pair were studied and compared by a commercial software. It was determined that the optimum gear micro-modification could be applied to optimize the transmission error of the loaded gear pair. In the future, a transmission test rig which is introduced in this paper is about to be used to study the T.E. after gear micro-geometry modification. And finally, the optimized modification can be verified by B&K testing equipment in the semi-anechoic room later.

Supplementation of guanidinoacetic acid and rumen-protected methionine increased growth performance and meat quality of Tan lambs

        Zhang Jian Hao,Li Hai Hai,Zhang Gui Jie,Zhang Ying Hui,Liu Bo,Huang Shuai,Guyader Jessie,Zhong Rong Zhen 아세아·태평양축산학회 2022 Animal Bioscience Vol.35 No.10

Objective: Tan lambs (n = 36, 3 mo old, 19.1±0.53 kg) were used to assess effects of dietary guanidinoacetic acid (GAA) and rumen-protected methionine (RPM) on growth performance, carcass traits, meat quality, and serum parameters. Methods: Lambs were randomly assigned to three treatment groups, with 6 pens per group and 2 lambs per pen. Dietary treatments were: basal diet alone (I); basal diet supplemented with 0.08% GAA+0.06% RPM (II); and basal diet supplemented with 0.08% GAA+0.08% RPM (III). Diets were provided three times a day for 90 d. Intake per pen was recorded daily and individual lamb body weight (BW) was measured monthly. Carcass traits were measured after slaughter and meat quality at the end of the experiment, blood samples were taken on a subgroup of lambs for analysis of indicators mostly related to protein metabolism. Results: Final BW and average daily gain for the first and second month, and for the entire experiment were greater in Treatment II compared to Treatment I (p<0.05), whereas feed to gain ratio was lower (p<0.05). Treatment II had the optimal dressing percentage and net meat weight proportion, as well as crude protein and intramuscular fat concentrations in muscles. Treatment II improved meat quality, as indicated by the greater water holding capacity, pH after 45 min and 48 h, and lower shear force and cooking loss. Dietary supplementation of GAA and RPM also increased the meat color a* and b* values at 24 h. Finally, Treatment II increased total protein, and serum concentrations of albumin and creatinine, but decreased serum urea nitrogen concentrations, indicating improved protein efficiency. Conclusion: In this study, 0.08% GAA+0.06% RPM supplementation improved growth performance and meat quality of Tan lambs.
