        The Genus Acervus from Southwestern China and Northern Thailand

        Acervus (Pyronemataceae, Pezizales) is a saprobic genus in Pezizomycetes, characterized by colored apothecia, subcylindrical to cylindrical asci and guttulate ascospores. We collected four Acervus samples from China and Thailand. Descriptions and illustrations are introduced for all fresh samples. One new record of A. globulosus from Thailand, one new species, A. rufus, two known species, A. epispartius and A. stipitatus from China are reported. Phylogenetic analysis based on five genes, the large subunit rRNA (LSU), the translation elongation factor-1 alpha (tef1-a), the second largest subunit of RNA polymerase II (rpb2), the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II (rpb1), and the small subunit rRNA (SSU), revealed the distinct position of the new species. The new species is set apart by its red apothecia. A key to Acervus species is also given.

        Rate of Convergence of the Integral Type Lupas-Bézier Operators

        In this paper we introduce the integral type Lupas-$B{\acute{e}}zier$ operator $\tilde{B}_{n,{\alpha}}$, which is a new approximation operator of probabilistic type. We study the rate of pointwise convergence of the operators $\tilde{B}_{n,{\alpha}}$ for local bounded functions and get an asymptotically estimate by means of some methods and techniques of probability theory.

      • Research of Optimal Investment Size for Distribution Network Based on Improved Sequential Quadratic Programming Method

        Installing distributed generators can effectively reduce network power consumption and improve power quality in the distribution network, but it will also bring some technical problems. Therefore, we need to study how to efficiently and quickly determine the optimal investment capacity of distributed generators in the distribution network. In this paper, we set the minimization of the power loss as the objective and establish the most investment scale decision-making model of distributed generation access to power distribution system. In terms of optimization algorithm, optimization time of traditional sequential quadratic programming will dramatically increase with the increasing number of variables and restraints. In order to pursue higher efficiency optimization, we apply the improved sequential quadratic programming that is fast sequential quadratic programming method for solving nonlinear problems of distributed generators optimal investment size. We apply the constructed model to systems with different nodes, and the results show that the proposed new optimization method is not only scientific and effective, and can significantly improve decision-making efficiency.

      • A Real-Time Vibration Frequency Measurement System of Bridge Pier

        This study developed a real-time remote monitoring system (RTRMS) to receive the vibration frequency of bridge pier. The system included a front station and a middle station. A multi-hop wireless routing is employed to transmit the data from the front to the middle station. The front station includes a receiver equipped to receive the vibration frequency, and a wireless sensor network to transmit the data. The middle station is designed by an embedded system for storing the data. The pressure test shows that the loss rate of received data is less than 0.6%. The consuming power of one day is 3 ampere hours in the front station and 30 ampere hours in the middle station if the 12 voltage battery is used.

        Investigation on Machining Characteristic of Pneumatic Wheel based on Softness Consolidation Abrasives

        In order to improve material removal rate of laser hardening workpiece and also make machining tool suitable for free-form surface,a new method based on the softness consolidation abrasives (SCA) is put forward, which means the abrasives are consolidated onthe outer layer of pneumatic wheel to achieve the softness-machining. Binder selecting test shows that acidic silicone is proved tosuit for consolidating particles in cutting process. Combined with robot, the machining system has been established. The machiningeffects of SCA are investigated when it faces with workpiece of different hardness. According to the Preston predicted model, thesimulation results of stress and velocity are proven by analysis of average roughness in the contact region. The contrastive machiningexperimental results show that SCA can supply high cutting stress for material removal and fit for freeform surface’s machining byself-adjustment of flexible body.

        Evaluation of the effect of mechanical deformation on beam isocenter properties of the SC200 scanning beam delivery system

        For proton pencil beam scanning (PBS) technology, the accuracy of the dose distribution in a patient is sensitive to the properties of the incident beam. However, mechanical deformation of the proton therapy facility may occur, and this could be an important factor affecting the proton dose distribution in patients. In this paper, we investigated the effect of deformation on an SC200 proton facility's beam isocenter properties. First, mechanical deformation of the PBS nozzle, L-shape plate, and gantry were simulated using a Finite Element code, ANSYS. Then, the impact of the mechanical deformation on the beam's isocenter properties was evaluated using empirical formulas. In addition, we considered the simplest case that could affect the properties of the incident beam (i.e. if only the bending magnet (BG3) has an error in its mounting alignment), and the effect of the beam optics offset on the isocenter characteristics was evaluated. The results showed that the deformation of the beam position in the X and Y direction was less than 0.27 mm, which meets the structural design requirements. Compared to the mechanical deformation of the L-shape plate, the deformation of the gantry had more influence on the beam's isocenter properties. When the error in the mounting alignment of the BG3 is equal to or more than 0.3 mm, the beam deformation at the isocenter exceeds the maximum accepted deformation limits. Generally speaking, for the current design of the SC200 scanning beam delivery system, the effects of mechanical deformation meet the maximum accepted beam deformation limits. In order to further study the effect of the incident beam optics on the isocenter properties, a fine-scale Monte Carlo model including factors relating to the PBS nozzle and the BG3 should be developed in future research.

      • No Association Between MTHFR A1298C Gene Polymorphism and Head and Neck Cancer Risk: A Meta-analysis Based on 9,952 Subjects

        Objective: Findings for associations between the methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) A1298C gene polymorphism and head and neck cancer risk have been conflicting. We therefore performed a meta-analysis to derive a more precise relationship. Methods: Ten published case-control studies were collected and odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to assess the association between MTHFR A1298C polymorphism and head and neck cancer risk. Sensitivity analysis and publication bias assessment also were performed to guarantee the statistical power. Results: Overall, no significant association between MTHFR A1298C polymorphism and head and neck cancer risk was found in this meta-analysis (C vs. A: OR=1.04, 95%CI=0.87-1.25, P=0.668, Pheterogeneity<0.001; CC vs. AA: OR=1.07, 95%CI=0.70-1.65, P=0.748, $P_{heterogeneity}<0.001$; AC vs. AA: OR=1.06, 95%CI=0.88-1.27, P=0.565, $P_{heterogeneity}<0.001$; CC+AC vs. AA: OR=1.06, 95%CI=0.86-1.30, P=0.571, $P_{heterogeneity}<0.001$; CC vs. AA+AC: OR=1.02, 95%CI=0.69-1.52, P=0.910, $P_{heterogeneity}<0.001$). Similar results were also been found in succeeding analysis of HWE and stratified analysis of ethnicity. Conclusion: In conclusion, our meta-analysis demonstrates that MTHFR A1298C polymorphism may not be a risk factor for developing head and neck cancer.

        QTLs of Cold Tolerance-Related Traits at the Booting Stage for NIL-RILs in Rice Revealed by SSR

        QTLs for cold tolerance-related traits at the booting stage using balanced population for 1525 recombinant inbred lines of near-isogenic lines (viz. NIL-RILs for BC5F3 and BC5F4 and BC5F5) over 3 years and two locations by backcrossing the strongly cold-tolerant landrace (Kunmingxiaobaigu) and a cold-sensitive cultivar (Towada) was analyzed. In this study, 676 microsatellite markers were employed to identify QTLs conferring cold tolerance at booting stage. Single marker analysis revealed that 12 markers associated with cold tolerance on chromosome 1, 4 and 5. Using a LOD significance threshold of 3.0, compositive interval mapping based on a mixed linear model revealed eight QTLs for 10 cold tolerance-related traits on chromosomes 1, 4, and 5. They were tentatively designated qCTB-1-1, qCTB-4-1, qCTB-4-2, qCTB-4-3, qCTB-4-4, qCTB-4-5, qCTB-4-6, and qCTB-5-1. The marker intervals of them were narrowed to 0.3-6.8 cM. Genetic distances between the peaks of the QTL and nearest markers varied from 0 to 0.04 cM. We were noticed in some traits associated cold tolerance, such as qCTB-1-1 for 5 traits (plant height, panicle exsertion, spike length, blighted grains per spike and spikelet fertility), qCTB-4-1 for 8 traits (plant height, node length under spike, leaf length, leaf width, spike length, full grains per spike, total grains per spike and spikelet fertility), qCTB-4-2 for 3 traits (spike length, full grains per spike and spikelet fertility), qCTB-5-1 for 5 traits (plant height, panicle exsertion, blighted grains per spike, full grains per spike and spikelet fertility). The variance explained by a single QTL ranged from 0.80 to 16.80%. Three QTLs (qCTB-1-1, qCTB-4-1, qCTB-4-2) were detected in two or more trials. Our study sets a foundation for cloning cold-tolerance genes and provides opportunities to understand the mechanism of cold tolerance at the booting stage.

        Microstructures, Mechanical Properties, and Fracture Behaviors of Metal-Injection Molded 17-4PH Stainless Steel

        Metal injection molding (MIM) is a versatile technique for economically manufacturing various metal parts with complicated shapes and excellent properties. The objective of this study was to clarify the effects of powder type (water-atomized and gas-atomized powders) and various heat treatments (sintering, solutioning, H900, and H1100) on the microstructures, mechanical properties, and fracture behaviors of MIM 17- 4PH stainless steels. The results showed that better mechanical properties of MIM 17-4PH can be achieved with gas-atomized powder than with water-atomized powder due mainly to the lower silicon and oxygen contents and fewer SiO2 inclusions in the steels. The presence of 10 vol% δ ferrite does not impair the UTS or elongation of MIM 17-4PH stainless steels. The δ ferrite did not fracture, even though the neighboring martensitic matrix was severely cracked. Moreover, H900 treatment produces the highest hardness and UTS, along with moderate elongation. H1100 treatment produces the best elongation, along with moderate hardness and UTS.
