Fundamental Structure in Simultaneous Removal for Phytoplankton and Nutrient Salt in Lakes

The water quality in eutrophic lakes is affected by serious problems, such as abnormal increasing of Cyanobacteria. The purpose of this study was to investigate the possibility of a modified flotation system using a hybrid technique formed by chemical compounds and an electrostatic bridge. Therefore, experiments using the hybrid technique were performed to measure the zeta potential value on the phytoplankton surface and the removal efficiencies of phytoplankton, ammonia nitrogen, nitrate nitrogen and phosphoric acid. The results were as follows: Firstly, the zeta potential of M.aeruginosa was observed to approach charge neutralization due to adhesion of magnesium hydroxide precipitate on the phytoplankton surface in the pH range 10.5 to 11. Secondly, the concentration of chlorophyll-a decreased from about 150 to 20 μg/L, with a maximum removal efficiency of 84% due to coagulation with pH values higher than 10. Thirdly, the NH₄-N concentration was observed to decrease from 0.62 to 0.54 mg-N/L (13%), and the PO₄-P concentration, which is a limiting factor to the formation of algae blooms, decreased from 0.27 to 0.02 mg-P/L (92%). These findings suggest that the modified flotation system can be applied for the purification of the raw water of numerous lakes containing high phytoplankton populations and elevated pH.
A Complexation Study of Novel Triaza and Hexaaza Macrocycles for the Use of Analytical Reagents

Novel macrocyclic ligands modified with pendant arms, N, N', N'', N''', N'''', N'''''-hexakis(2-aminoethyl)-1, 4, 7, 10, 13, 16-hexaazacyclootadecane [$L_3$, Fig.1] and 1, 4, 7-tris(3-(o-hydroxyphenyl)propyl)-1, 4, 7-triazacyclononane [$L_4$, Fig.1] have been synthesized, and the protonation of $L_3$ and $L_4$ and stability constants of $L_3$ with bivalent transition metal ions and rare earth metal ions were determined by a potentiometry. The obtained results show that the complex formation of $L_3$ depends on the metal ligand ratios, and the stability of the metal complexes does not depend on the sizes of the metal ions, but on the nature of the metal ions. The structures of the rare earth complexes for $L_4$ were characterized by an X-ray absorption spectrometry(XAFS).
Next Generation HVAC System for Office Buildings

The new air-conditioning control method for the energy saving of buildings is proposed. The method ismainly focused on the compatibility of energy savings and comfort. The energy saving is achieved through the optimal operation of HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and air-conditioning) system, manipulating the supplying airflow temperatures to the rooms, room temperatures and the humidity. The comfort is kept by the index (PMV: Predicted Mean Vote) that comprises temperature, humidity, radiation temperature, wind velocity and so on. In order to find the HVAC system operation conditions that satisfy the comfort and energy saving at the same time, very large-scale nonlinear programming with nonlinear constraints must be solved on real time basis. To make the programming of the system practical, the driving function loaded onto a control computer is introduced. The function is made by the spline-interpolation to achieve calculation stable and adaptation to various HVAC operation modes.
Radioprotection Effects to the Radiation Side Effect in EEM (Extracts of Edible Mushrooms)

Presently, raditherapy is often used alone or in combination with anti-cancer medicine as a treatment for cancer. Chemosynthesis has been used as a radiation protection medicine. But, its use has been restricted due to serious side effects. ICR mice have often been used for malformation experiments as they were used in this research. Here, EEM (extracts of edible mushrooms (and extraction from Flammulina velutires and lyuophyllum ulmarium)), a natural product, was used as a radioprotective agent and its effects were examined. A decline in the fetus malformation rate was recognized when giveing EEM before the radiation irradiation. Moreover, a repression in the decrease of fetus weight was recognized, and the effect on radiation protection of EEM was explained at the individual level. And, I had the effect on protection that faced a corpuscle cell by the radiation by giving EEM was explained in the same way too. As for the cell level as well, it was proved that there was an effect on protection against radiation irradiation in the same way as the individual level. Furthermore, an examination was done about the effects on the external malformation to the radiation, the embryonic death rate and the sensitivity of the lymphocyte at the organogenesis stage. Furtheromore, the study was done about the effects on the malformation to the radiation, the embryonic death rate and the sensitivity of the lymphocyte at the fetus of the organogenesis stage.
