It is impossible to know the amount of pork primal cut by pig carcass grade which is determined only by carcass weight and backfat thickness in the Korean Pig Carcass System. The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between the pig carcass grade and the amount of pork primal cut estimated with AutoFom III. A total of 419,321 Landrace, Yorkshire, and Duroc (LYD) pigs were graded with the Korean Pig Carcass Grade System. Amounts of belly, neck, loin, tenderloin, spare ribs, shoulder, and ham were estimated with AutoFom III. Regression equations for seven primal cuts according to each grade were derived. There were significant differences among the three carcass grades due to heteroscedasticity variance (p < 0.0001). Three regression equations were derived from AutoFom III estimation of primal cuts according to carcass grades. The coefficient of determination of the regression equation was 0.941 for grade 1<sup>+</sup>, 0.982 for grade 1, and 0.993 for grade 2. Regression equations obtained from this study are suitable for AutoFom III software, a useful tool for the analysis of each pig carcass grade in the Korean Pig Carcass Grade System. The high reliability of predicting the amount of primal cut with AutoFom III is advantageous for the management of slaughterhouses to optimize their product sorting in Korea.
수소 생성을 위한 플라즈마 개질기에서의 LPG 연료의 개질 특성

본 연구에서는 LPG자동차용으로 적용키 위한 플라즈마 개질에서 개질기 형상변화가 개질 특성에 미치는 영향에 대해 실험을 하였다. 수소 수율을 향상시키기 위해, 2차 개질기는 1차 개질기에 비해서 개질기 후단부의 부피를 증가시켜 플라즈마를 통과하는 개질가스의 반응시간을 증가시켰다. 각 개질기의 비교를 위하여 O₂/C 비를 부분산화 조건에서부터 완전산화 조건까지, 총 유량은 20, 30, 40, 50 lpm으로 증가시키며 실험을 하였다. 각 개질기의 특성을 비교해본 결과, O₂/C 비가 부분산화 조건에서 완전산화 조건으로 갈수록 LPG 전환율은 증가하였고, 수소 선택도는 감소하였으며, 수소 수율은 증가하다 감소하는 최적조건이 존재하였다. 개질기는 4.5배 부피가 큰 2차 개질기가 1차 개질기에 비해 동일 유량에서 수소 수율이 4~14% 증가한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. In this study, characteristics of the geometric design changes of plasma reformer for LPG fuelled vehicles were studied. To improve the yield of hydrogen, reformer 1st, and 2nd were designed. Secondary reformer compared to the primary reformer to increase the volume of the rear part of reformed gas having passed through the plasma and increased reaction time. To compare reforming results of two reformers, various experimental conditions such as, from partial oxidation to total oxidation conditions O₂/C ratios, and total flow rate of 20, 30, 40, 50 lpm conditions, were varied. Results showed that with increasing O₂/C ratios, LPG conversion rate increased, decreased hydrogen selectivity and hydrogen yield optimal point existed and secondary reformer 4.5 times larger than the primary reformer at the same flow rate to 4~14% increase in the yield of hydrogen.

In this study, characteristics of reforming process of automotive LPG fuel using plasma reactor are investigated. Plasma reformer technology has advantages of a fast start-up and wide fuel/oxidizer ratio of operation and reactor size is small and simpler than typical combustor and catalytic reactor. For these reasons, plasma reforming is suitable for a on-board vehicle reformer. To evaluate the characteristics of the reforming process, parametric effect of O₂/C ratio, reactant flow rate and plasma power on the process were investigated. In C₄H10 plasma reforming process, SED values and O₂ /C ratios are the main factors. SED effect or plasma chemistry is effective in the earlier steps of the reaction and O₂/C ratio or thermal activation affects throughout over the whole reaction. The result can give essential information for optimization of a reforming process.

본 연구에서는 플라즈마 반응기를 이용한 자동차용 LPG 연료의 개질 특성에 대해서 실험하였다. 실험에서 사용된 플라즈마 반응기술은 종전의 촉매반응기술에 비해서 빠른 기동시간 및 연소기 부하변동 응답성, 단순하고 소형화가 가능한 장점을 가지고 있어 차량의 온-보드형 개질에 적합하다. 본 개질 반응의 특성을 평가하기 위해 플라즈마 반응기로 공급되는 O₂/C 비와 공급되는 공기와 LPG의 총 유량 및 플라즈마 공급전력을 주요 변수로 실험하였다. 공급되는 전력이 일정할 때, O₂/C 비 변화 실험에서는 완전산화 조건으로 갈수록 LPG 전환율은 증가하지만 수소의 선택도는 감소되었다. 높은 수소 선택도와 수율을 동시에 만족시키는 O₂/C 비는 20~50lpm 조건에서 0.8~0.9 이었으며, 총 유량이 증가할수록 LPG 전환율과 수소 수율이 감소 하는 경향을 나타내었다. Effects of Pig Skin Collagen Supplementation on Broiler Breast Meat

This study aimed to enhance the quality of broiler breast meat by adding pig skin collagen to feed. A total of 50 Ross 308 broilers were classified according to the following feeding regime for two weeks: basal diet (NC), basal diet+0.1% fish collagen (PC), basal diet+0.1% pig skin collagen (T1), basal diet+0.5% pig skin collagen (T2), and basal diet+1.0% pig skin collagen (T3). The moisture content was the highest in the PC group, and the protein content was the lowest in the T1 group (p<0.05). The fat content was higher in the T1 and PC groups, whereas the ash content was higher in the T3 group (p<0.05). Drip loss was the highest in the NC group and the lowest in the T2 group (p<0.05). Lightness was low in groups T2 and T3, redness was low in groups T2 and PC, and yellowness was low in groups T1, T2, and PC (p<0.05). The collagen content of the chicken breast was the highest in the T3 group, and that of the skin was the highest in the T1 group (p<0.05). The texture characteristics of springiness, cohesiveness, chewiness, and hardness were the highest in the T3 group (p<0.05). In conclusion, the supplementation of a broiler diet with pig skin collagen was found to increase the collagen content of the breast meat, indicating the improved quality of the broiler breast meat.

Volume of reactor is small and simple compared to typical combustor and catalytic reactor. Because of these merits, plasma reforming is prominent for the use of on-board reformer. To evaluate the characteristics of the reforming process, parametric effect of O₂/C ratio and reactant flow rate on the process was investigated. In the test of varying O₂/C ratio from partial oxidation stoichiometry to combustion stoichiometry, conversion of LPG was increased but selectivity of H₂ decreased. The optimum condition of O₂/C ratio for the highest H₂ selectivity was determined to be 0.91 and 0.89 for 20 lpm and 30 lpm respectively. The result can be a guide to map optimal condition of reforming process.
플라즈마 개질기 형상변화에 따른 LPG연료의 개질특성연구

HLPG fuel research has been started recently, which is obtained by adding hydrogen to the LPG fuel. The characteristics of the fuel LPG is stored in two phases in the fuel tank. Therefore, on-board vehicle reforming is suitable for LPG vehicle. Suitable methods for on-board reforming vehicle, does not require supply of water, small size and rapid response is available plasma partial oxidation method. So, in this study the characteristics of LPG fuel reforming using a plasma reactor are investigated. When the total flow rate of reformer inlet at 20~50lpm and supplied power is 200W, parametric effect of O2/C ratio, geometric designs of plasma reformer on the process were investigated. As a result of the experiment, the optimum condition of O2/C ratio for the highest H2 yield and H2 selectivity were determined to be 0.8 to 0.9 and 1.0 to 1.4 for reformer 1 and reformer 2 respectively. Highest H2 yield of both reformer 1 and reformer 2 condition were 20lpm(reformer 1; 20%, reformer 2; 34%), and highest H2 yield decrease as th total flow rate is increased.

<B>ABSTRACT</B><B>Background:</B><P>Personality may predispose family caregivers to experience caregiving differently in similar situations and influence the outcomes of caregiving. A limited body of research has examined the role of some personality traits for health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among family caregivers of persons with dementia (PWD) in relation to burden and depression.</P><B>Methods:</B><P>Data from a large clinic-based national study in South Korea, the Caregivers of Alzheimer's Disease Research (CARE), were analyzed (<I>N</I> = 476). Path analysis was performed to explore the association between family caregivers’ personality traits and HRQoL. With depression and burden as mediating factors, direct and indirect associations between five personality traits and HRQoL of family caregivers were examined.</P><B>Results:</B><P>Results demonstrated the mediating role of caregiver burden and depression in linking two personality traits (neuroticism and extraversion) and HRQoL. Neuroticism and extraversion directly and indirectly influenced the mental HRQoL of caregivers. Neuroticism and extraversion only indirectly influenced their physical HRQoL. Neuroticism increased the caregiver's depression, whereas extraversion decreased it. Neuroticism only was mediated by burden to influence depression and mental and physical HRQoL.</P><B>Conclusions:</B><P>Personality traits can influence caregiving outcomes and be viewed as an individual resource of the caregiver. A family caregiver's personality characteristics need to be assessed for tailoring support programs to get the optimal benefits from caregiver interventions.</P>
