A novel complex [$Zn(phen)(o-AB)_2$] [phen: 1,10-phenanthroline o-AB: o-aminobenzoic acid] was synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis and X-ray diffraction single-crystal analysis. The crystal crystallizes in monoclinic, space group P2(1)/c with $a=7.6397(6){\AA}$, $b=16.8761(18){\AA}$, $c=17.7713(19){\AA}$, ${\alpha}=90^{\circ}$, ${\beta}=98.9570(10)^{\circ}$, ${\gamma}=90^{\circ}$, $V=2.2633(4)nm^3$, Z = 4, F(000) = 1064, S = 1.058, $Dc=1.520g{\cdot}cm^{-3}$, $R_1=0.0412$, $wR_2=0.0948$, ${\mu}=1.128mm^{-1}$. The Zn(II) is six coordinated by two nitrogen and four oxygen atoms from the 1,10-phenanthroline and o-aminobenzoic acid to furnish a distorted octahedron geometry. The complex exhibits intense fluorescence at room temperature. Theoretical studies of the title complex were carried out by density functional theory (DFT) B3LYP method. CCDC: 898291.

Background/Aims Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) is the key factor inducing mucosal and systemic inflammation in various intestinal and parenteral diseases, which could initially disrupt the epithelial barrier function. EphrinA1/ephA2 is speculated to increase the epithelial permeability for its “repulsive interaction” between adjacent cells. This study aim to investigate the role of ephrinA1/ephA2 in LPS-induced epithelial hyperpermeability. Methods In vivo model challenged with oral LPS in C57BL/6 mice and in vitro model exposed to LPS in Caco2 monolayer were established. The barrier function was assessed including expression of tight junction proteins (occludin and claudin-1), transepithelial electrical resistance, and permeability to macromolecules (fluorescein isothiocyanate-labeled fluorescent dextran 4 kDa [FD4]). Moreover, the expression and phosphorylation of ephrinA1/ephA2 were quantified, and its roles in the process of epithelial barrier disruption were confirmed via stimulating ephA2 with ephrinA1-Fc chimera (ephrinA1-Fc) and inactivating ephA2 with ephA2-Fc chimera (ephA2-Fc), or ephA2 monoclonal antibody (ephA2-mab), as well as inhibiting extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) with PD98059. Results LPS induced significant barrier dysfunction with dismissed occludin and claudin-1 expression, reduced transepithelial electrical resistance and increased FD4 permeability, accompanied by upregulated ephrinA1/ephA2 pathway and phosphorylation of ephA2 receptor. Furthermore, ephA2-Fc, and ephA2-mab ameliorated LPS-induced epithelial hyperpermeability, which was also inhibited by PD98059. Additionally, ephrinA1-Fc led to apparent epithelial leakage in Caco2 monolayer by promoting the phosphorylation of ERK1/2, which could be obviously blocked by ephA2-mab and PD98059. Conclusion EphrinA1/ephA2 promotes epithelial hyperpermeability with an ERK1/2-dependent pathway, which involves in LPS-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction. X-ray crystallography shows that Ni(II) ion is six-coordinated. The Ni(II) ion coordinates with four nitrogen atoms and two oxygen atoms from three ligands, forming a mononuclear Ni(II) complex. The crystal crystallizes in the Orthorhombic system, space group $P2_12_12$ with a = 12.9546 ${\AA}$, b = 14.9822 ${\AA}$, c = 9.9705 ${\AA}$, V = 1935.2 ${\AA}$, Z = 1, F(000) = 1008, S = 0.969, ${\rho}_{calcd}=1.742g{\cdot}cm^{-3}$, ${\mu}=4.688mm^{-1}$, $R_1$ = 0.0529 and $wR_2$ = 0.0738 for 3424 observed reflections (I > $2{\sigma}(I)$). Theoretical study of the title complex was carried out by density functional theory (DFT) method and the B3LYP method employing the $6-3l+G^*$ basis set. The energy gap between HOMO and LUMO indicates that this complex is prone to interact with DNA. CCDC: 908041.

This paper describes the development and result of ground experiment and analyzes the on-orbit operation of Loop heat pipes (LHP) for the Chinese circumlunar return and reentry spacecraft. A novel LHP was developed to satisfy the thermal control requirements of Inertial measurement units (IMU). The LHP consisted of an integrated evaporator subassembly, a cambered condenser, and an electric explosion valve. Ground experiments were conducted to investigate the startup characteristics, and heat transfer and heat insulation performance of the LHPs. During a flight mission, the LHPs work as a thermal switch and perform both heat transfer and insulation functions. Before returning to the earth’s atmosphere, the valves of the reentry capsule are opened to discharge working fluid and prevent heat transfer from the capsule wall to the devices. In the flight mission, the LHPs performed all the required functions, and the IMU temperatures were maintained within an allowable range.

In this paper, a robust control scheme using back-stepping and α-filter-based uncertainty and disturbance estimator (UDE) is designed for flexible air-breathing hypersonic vehicle (FAHV) in the presence of severe external disturbances. Firstly, with the aid of back-stepping technique, the longitudinal dynamics of FAHV is separated into velocity and altitude subsystems. Feedback linearization (FL) is utilized to design control laws for each subsystem. Secondly, to enhance robustness of the controller, α-filter-based UDEs are constructed to estimate the lumped disturbances, including aerodynamic parameter uncertainties, flexible effects and external disturbances. More importantly, the performance superiority of α-filter-based UDE is clarified via frequency response analysis and comparisons with an extended state observer (ESO). Furthermore, the issue of tuning design parameter α is analyzed. The stability of closed-loop system is proved by Lyapunov stability theory. Simulation results demonstratethe effectiveness of the proposed control strategy.

To study the mechanical and optical properties of a new nanocrystalline yttria-stabilized zirconia (PX242A Tosoh Japan). The influence of heating rates on its properties and its potential use as a dental ceramic were also evaluated. Samples of PX242A were divided into 4 groups according to heating rates : group H1 (100oKh−1); group H2 (200oKh−1); group H4 (400oKh−1);group H6 (600oKh−1). Group H0 (3Y-SBE Tosoh Japan) was made according to the manufacturer’s recommendation as a control. The contrast ratio (CR), transparency parameter (TP) and total transmittance (TT) were measured by an Xrite spectrophotometer. The flexural strength and fracture toughness were also evaluated. The flexural strength and fracture toughness were found to be independent of the heating rate while the optical properties significantly increased when the heating rates were 600oKh−1, 200oKh−1 and 400oKh−1, but were not significantly different with 100oKh−1. A heating rate of 600oKh−1 is suggested as a time efficiency protocol, because it could provide desirable mechanical and optical properties,making zirconia suitable for clinical use.
Interleukin-10-Producing B Cells Help Suppress Ovariectomy-Mediated Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is prevalent in elderly women and it may cause dental implant failure. In particular, estrogen deficiency in postmenopausal women leads to higher rates of osteoporosis prevalence. Immune cell-mediated effects involving the development of osteoporosis have been studied previously; however, the role of IL-10-producing regulatory B (B10) cells in osteoporosis is largely unclear. Here, we examined the role of B10 cells in osteoporosis. C57BL/6 mice were subjected to ovariectomy (OVX). Fifteen weeks after OVX surgery, the first molar of the right maxillary was extracted, and twenty-four weeks after OVX surgery, serous progression of osteoporosis was observed in the alveolar bone. Moreover, the proportion of CD19+CD5+CD1dhigh regulatory B cells, B10, and CD4+CD25+FoxP3+ regulatory T cells from the spleen of OVX mice decreased during the progression of osteoporosis, compared to controls. In contrast to regulatory cells, IL-17-producing Th (Th17) cell levels were increased in OVX mice. Adoptive transfer of B10 cells to OVX mice led to a decrease in Th17 cell abundance and inhibited the development of osteoporosis in the alveolar bone from OVX mice. Thus, our results suggest that B10 cells may help suppress osteoporosis development.
