      • Immediate Effects of Stretching Combination on Warm-up and Performance of Swing Players

        PURPOSE : The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of six muscle stretching combinations on the muscle performance and blood supply of pectoralis major of sub-elite swing athletes. RESULTS : A total of 90 male athletes aged 18-25 participated and divided into six groups on average: SS60s DS30s (1); SS45s DS45s (2); SS30s DS60s (3); DS60s SS30s (4); DS45s SS45s (5); DS30s SS60s (6). After stretching, the maximum blood flow velocity of group (1) increased by 74.91±52.73cm/s (p< 0.01), and the blood flow increased by 3.82±2.93ml/s (p<0.01). The maximum blood flow velocity of group (2) increased by 25.71±33.20cm/s (p<0.05), and the blood flow increased by 1.10±1.56ml/s (p<0.05); Group (3) showed a decrease in blood flow of 10.70±45.68ml/s (p>0.05), while the maximum blood flow increased by 30.93±63.49cm/s (p>0.05). After stretching, there were significant differences in blood flow and velocity among groups. In group (1), adductor muscle strength decreased by 0.35±4.47 (p>0.05)and supinator muscle strength decreased by 0.99±5.22 (p>0.05), while abductor muscle strength increased by 1.43±8.26 (p>0.05) and supinator muscle strength increased by 0.97±4.58 (p>0.05). In group (2), the adductor muscle strength increased by 2.52±2.95 (p<0.01). Abductor muscle strength increased by 1.2±6.62 (p>0.05) and external rotation muscle strength increased by 1.18±2.28 (p>0.05), while internal rotation muscle strength decreased by 0.36±2.50 (p>0.05). In group (3), muscle strength increased, but both were not statistically significant. After the experiment, there was no significant difference in muscle strength among the groups.

        Effect of Sc Content on the Microstructure and Properties of Al–Mg–Sc Alloys Deposited by Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing

        Despite showing considerable potential, wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) has been limited to producing Al–Mgalloys. As the addition of Sc can improve the mechanical properties of Al–Mg alloys, in this study, Al–Mg–Sc alloy depositswith different Sc contents were prepared by a WAAM process. The porosity, microstructure, and mechanical properties ofthe deposits were studied. At Sc contents less than 0.15%, Sc was completely dissolved in the Al matrix without grain refinement,and the mechanical properties were slightly improved. At a Sc content of 0.3%, the primary Al3Scphase precipitatedout of the as-deposited body, resulting in an abrupt change in the microstructure, significant grain refinement, significantlyincreased tensile strength and yield strength, with a tensile strength, yield strength, and elongation of 372 MPa, 270 MPa,and 22.5%, respectively. Following heat treatment at 350 °C for 1 h, the grain boundaries were refined and the secondaryAl3Scphase was precipitated. Furthermore, the tensile strength and yield strength were significantly increased to 415 MPaand 279 MPa, respectively, and elongation decreased to 18.5%. At a Sc content of 0.45%, due to the aggregated precipitatedphase, the coarsened grain boundaries and the limited solid solution amount of Sc in the α(Al) matrix (~ 0.25%), themechanical properties were not further improved compared with the deposit with Sc content of 0.3%. Thus, based on economicconsiderations, the optimal Sc content was 0.3%. Owing to their enhanced mechanical properties, WAAM-producedAl–Mg–Sc alloys are expected to have a wide range of applications in aviation, aerospace.

        Genomic Correlates of Unfavorable Outcome in Locally Advanced Cervical Cancer Treated with Neoadjuvant Chemoradiation

        Purpose Neoadjuvant therapy modality can increase the operability rate and mitigate pathological risks in locally advanced cervical cancer, but treatment response varies widely. It remains unclear whether genetic alterations correlate with the response to neoadjuvant therapy and disease-free survival (DFS) in locally advanced cervical cancer. Materials and Methods A total of 62 locally advanced cervical cancer (stage IB-IIA) patients who received neoadjuvant chemoradiation plus radical hysterectomy were retrospectively analyzed. Patients’ tumor biopsy samples were comprehensively profiled using targeted next generation sequencing. Pathologic response to neoadjuvant treatment and DFS were evaluated against the association with genomic traits. Results Genetic alterations of PIK3CA were most frequent (37%), comparable to that of Caucasian populations from The Cancer Genome Atlas. The mutation frequency of genes including TERT, POLD1, NOS2, and FGFR3 was significantly higher in Chinese patients whereas RPTOR, EGFR, and TP53 were underrepresented in comparison to Caucasians. Germline mutations were identified in 21% (13/62) of the cohort and more than half (57%) had mutations in DNA damage repair genes, including BRCA1/2, TP53 and PALB2. Importantly, high tumor mutation burden, TP53 polymorphism (rs1042522), and KEAP1 mutations were found to be associated with poor pathologic response to neoadjuvant chemoradiation treatment. KEAP1 mutations, PIK3CA-SOX2 co-amplification, TERC copy number gain, and TYMS polymorphism correlated with an increased risk of disease relapse. Conclusion We report the genomic profile of locally advanced cervical cancer patients and the distinction between Asian and Caucasian cohorts. Our findings highlight genomic traits associated with unfavorable neoadjuvant chemoradiation response and a higher risk of early disease recurrence.         US-Vietnam Comprehensive Partnership: Achievements, Problems and Development Trends

        In recent years, the bilateral relations between the United States and Vietnam have shown a momentum of rapid development. The year 2020 marks the 25th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral relations between the two countries. Through sorting out the effects, problems and development trends of the comprehensive partnership between the two countries, this paper discusses the factors restricting the development of the bilateral relations, and then analyzes the prospects of the development of the US-Vietnam relations. The United States and Vietnam have a number of strategic convergence points to deepen cooperation, but at the same time, the two countries still face challenges in ideology, political system and other aspects. In the future, it is possible for the US-Vietnam relationship to continue to strengthen. On the one hand, Vietnam will strengthen bilateral relations with the US and implement multilateralism diplomacy to contain China. On the other hand, Vietnam will avoid stimulating China and stabilize its relations with China.

        Studies on the Chemical Composition and Antitumor Activity of the Acid Polysaccharide from Alga Sargassum Fusiforme

        An acid polysaccharide (SFP), was extracted from alga Sargassum fusiforme in hot water, was purified by ion exchange chromatography on DEAE-cellulose. The PC, chemical analysis, electrophoresis and IR of SFP indicated that it was a kind of alginate with a mol. wt. of 13,000 and a molar ratio of mannuronic acid to guluronic acid 2.75. Pharmacological tests showed that SFP could prolong the survival duration of mice suffering from ascitic Sarcoma 180 with a rate of life prolongation of 63.44%.

        Evaluation of functional suitable digital complete denture system based on 3D printing technology

        PURPOSE. To improve the clinical effects of complete denture use and simplify its clinical application, a digital complete denture restoration workflow (Functional Suitable Digital Complete Denture System, FSD) was proposed and preliminary clinical evaluation was done. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Forty edentulous patients were enrolled, of which half were treated by a prosthodontic chief physician, and the others were treated by a postgraduate student. Based on the primary impression and jaw relation obtained at the first visit, diagnostic denture was designed and printed to create a definitive impression, jaw relation, and esthetic confirmation at the second visit. A redesigned complete denture was printed as a mold to fabricate final denture that was delivered at the third visit. To evaluate accuracy of impression made by diagnostic denture, the final denture was used as a tray to make impression, and 3D comparison was used to analyze their difference. To evaluate the clinical effect of FSD, visual analogue scores (VAS) were determined by both dentists and patients. RESULTS. Two visits were reduced before denture delivery. The RMS values of 3D comparison between the impression made via diagnostic dentures and the final dentures were 0.165 ± 0.033 mm in the upper jaw and 0.139 ± 0.031 mm in the lower jaw. VAS ratings were between 8.5 and 9.6 in the chief physician group, while 7.7 and 9.5 in the student group; there was no statistical difference between the two groups. CONCLUSION. FSD can simplify the complete denture restoration process and reduce the number of visits. The accuracy of impressions made by diagnostic dentures was acceptable in clinic. The VASs of both dentists and patients were satisfied.

A collaborative education model for labor education in the field of new energy from the perspective of engineering education professional certification, taking the Energy Storage Principles and Technology course as an example, proposes an innovative teaching plan. This study focuses on the core requirements of engineering education professional certification and explores specific practical paths for integrating labor education into professional learning, aiming to enhance students’ practical ability, innovation ability, and social responsibility. By conducting experiments, project-driven learning, and enterprise internships, we aim to strengthen the integration of theory and practice and promote the comprehensive development of student abilities. The research results indicate that this collaborative education model can effectively enhance students' professional skills and engineering literacy and cultivate high-quality talent with more practical experience and innovative abilities in the field of new energy. This study not only has important guiding significance for the education of new energy majors but also provides valuable experience for talent cultivation in other engineering majors.

        The Breed and Sex Effect on the Carcass Size Performance and Meat Quality of Yak in Different Muscles

        The carcass size performances and the meat quality of Gannan and Sibu yak were determined using M. supraspinatus (SU), M. longissimus thoracis (LT) and M.quadriceps femoris (QF). It is found that Sibu yak had significantly higher carcass weight (CW) than Gannan yak with difference of nearly 40 kg, as well as significantly higher eye muscle area (EMA), carcass thorax depth (CTD), round perimeter (RP), etc. The carcass performances of steer yak were significantly higher than heifer yak except meat thickness at round (MTR) (p<0.05). The results show that both yak breed and gender had significant effects on carcass performances. It could be seen that the variation of carcass size performances from breeds is as large as from gender (50.22% and 46.25% of total variation, respectively) through principal component analysis (PCA). Sibu yak had significantly higher L*, b*, WBSF, cooking loss and Fat content, while Gannan yak had significantly higher a*, press loss, protein content and moisture (p<0.05). Yak gender and muscle had insignificant effects on meat colour and water holding capacity (p>0.05). The variation of meat quality of yak from breed is up to 59.46% of total variation according to PCA. It is shown that the difference between breeds, for Gannan yak and Sibu yak, plays an important role in carcass size performance and meat quality.

      • Tailoring n-ZnO/p-Si Branched Nanowire Heterostructures for Selective Photoelectrochemical Water Oxidation or Reduction

        <P>We report the fabrication of three-dimensional (3D) branched nanowire (NW) heterostructures, consisting of periodically ordered vertical Si NW trunks and ZnO NW branches, and their application for solar water splitting. The branched NW photoelectrodes show orders of magnitudes higher photocurrent compared to the bare Si NW electrodes. More interestingly, selective photoelectrochemical cathodic or anodic behavior resulting in either solar water oxidation or reduction was achieved by tuning the doping concentration of the p-type Si NW core. Specifically, n-ZnO/p-Si branched NW array electrodes with lightly doped core show broadband absorption from UV to near IR region and photocathodic water reduction, while n-ZnO/p<SUP>+</SUP>-Si branched NW arrays show photoanodic water oxidation with photoresponse only to UV light. The photoelectrochemical stability for over 24 h under constant light illumination and fixed biasing potential was achieved by coating the branched NW array with thin layers of TiO<SUB>2</SUB> and Pt. These studies not only reveal the promise of 3D branched NW photoelectrodes for high efficiency solar energy harvesting and conversion to clean chemical fuels, but also developing understanding enabling rational design of high efficiency robust photocathodes and photoanodes from low-cost and earth-abundant materials allowing practical applications in clean renewable energy.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/nalefd/2013/nalefd.2013.13.issue-7/nl304539x/production/images/medium/nl-2012-04539x_0005.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/nl304539x'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>
