This paper is a study on the head bolts, used in A/C compressor, for reducing production cost and solving leak problems on the head bolt seat area causing a massive faulty according to production lot intermittently. In this paper, the pre-heat treated steel eliminating heat treatment process after forging was used for the head bolt as material. The preheat treated steel head bolts, 10 % lower than the usual SCM435 head bolts in tensile strength, were selected for this study by considering the results of creeping rupture properties, axial force and stress concentration per tensile strength variation. And then the performance test and the durability test with the A/C compressor assembled with the pre-heat treated steel head bolts were performed and verified. As the results, the pre-heat treated steel head bolts developed in this study showed the cost saving with 7.3 % by eliminating the heat treatment process and logistics process. Additionally, the leak problem on the head bolt seat area in the A/C compressor was improved significantly on the assembly line of mass production.
Reversible self-bending soft hydrogel microstructures with mechanically optimized designs

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A rational design methodology for materials with optimal mechanical properties is a prerequisite for developing programmable soft matter that undergoes structural changes in response to external stimuli. The goals of this study are to experimentally characterize the capabilities of a self-bending reconfigurable microstructure, provide fundamental information in engineering design, and validate simulations of physics-based models. In this study, the self-bending behavior of hydrogel bilayers, composed of an active layer and a passive layer, is investigated experimentally and theoretically. This self-bending is completely reversible and allows the structure to fold and unfold without permanent deformation. Experimentally, the effects of design parameters on the self-bending behavior of the microstructures of hydrogel bilayers are explored by varying the extrinsic geometric variables. The study of finite element method (FEM) simulations shows that the final shape of the bilayer sheet is governed by intrinsic properties, including the elastic modulus and the swelling ratio, and extrinsic geometrical factors, such as the thickness ratio of the bilayer and the aspect ratio of the structure. <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>We estimated the exposure to ambient air pollutants and analyzed the associations with allergic diseases. We enrolled 177 children with atopic dermatitis (AD) and 70 asthmatic adults living in Seoul Metropolitan Area, Korea, and followed for 17months between August 2013 and December 2014. Parents or patients recorded symptom scores on a daily basis. Exposure to particulate matter with a diameter <10μm (PM<SUB>10</SUB>) and nitrogen dioxide (NO<SUB>2</SUB>) was estimated in four different ways in each individual, using the AQ1 (measurements from the nearest air quality monitoring station to residential houses), AQ2 (measurements modified from AQ1 with the indoor level of air pollutants and time activity of each individual), AQ1-DI, and AQ2-DI (measurements modified from AQ1 and AQ2, respectively, with daily inhalation intakes of air pollutants). A generalized linear mixed model (GLMM) was used to analyze the associations between exposure metrics and clinical symptoms after adjusting for ambient temperature and humidity, age, season, gender, and time trend. The exposure metrics for PM<SUB>10</SUB> and NO<SUB>2</SUB> showed different distributions. Symptoms of AD and asthma were positively associated with exposure to PM<SUB>10</SUB>, but not NO<SUB>2</SUB>, in all exposure metrics. The effect size of PM<SUB>10</SUB> exposure on asthma symptoms was slightly greater in metrics with inhalation capacity (AQ-DIs) than in those without (AQs). This pattern was not observed in AD. Exposure to PM<SUB>10</SUB> is associated with symptom aggravation in childhood AD and adult asthma. BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Obesity is a serious concern worldwide, for which the restaurant industry holds partial responsibility. This study was conducted to estimate restaurant consumers' intention to select healthy menu items and to examine the relationships among behavioral beliefs, past behaviors, attitudes and behavioral intentions, which are known to be major determinants of consumer behaviors. SUBJECTS/METHODS: An online, self-administered survey was distributed for data collection. The study sample consisted of customers who reported having visited casual dining restaurants in the last three months at the time of the survey. Structural equation modeling was used to verify the fit of the proposed research model. RESULTS: Structural equation modeling revealed that the proposed model supports the sequential, mediated (indirect) relationships among behavioral beliefs, past behaviors, attitudes and behavioral intentions toward healthy menu selection. CONCLUSION: This study contributes to the available literature regarding obesity by adding past behaviors, one of the most influential variables involved in prediction of future behaviors of consumers, to the TPB model, enabling a better understanding of restaurant consumers' rational decision process regarding healthy menu choices. The results of this study provide practical implications for restaurant practitioners and government agencies regarding ways to promote healthy menus.
