Fatigue Behaviors of Silicon Nanowire Field-Effect Transistors on Bendable Substrate

<P>In this study, we fabricated an island-structured silicon nanowire (SiNW) field-effect transistor (FET) on an Ecoflex substrate and analyzed the device reliability against the bending fatigue. A SiNW-FET was fabricated on a plastic substrate and this FET on the plastic substrate was transferred onto the Ecoflex substrate. Compared to a SiNW-FET on a plastic substrate, the SiNW-FET with the island plastic structure on the Ecoflex substrate showed the stable electrical characteristics under various bending strain. Variations less than 10% of the threshold voltage and transconductance were observed under the bending strain of 15%. Moreover, the electrical characteristics were maintained even after 2000 bending cycles.</P>

<P>In this study, we present the steep switching characteristics of bendable feedback field-effect transistors (FBFETs) consisting of p(+)-i-n(+) Si nanowires (NWs) and dual-top-gate structures. As a result of a positive feedback loop in the intrinsic channel region, our FBFET features the outstanding switching characteristics of an on/off current ratio of approximately 106, and point subthreshold swings (SSs) of 18-19 mV/dec in the n-channel operation mode and of 10- 23 mV/dec in the p-channel operation mode. Not only can these devices operate in n- or p-channel modes, their switching characteristics can also be modulated by adjusting the gate biases. Moreover, the device maintains its steep SS characteristics, even when the substrate is bent. This study demonstrates the promising potential of bendable NW FBFETs for use as low-power components in integrated circuits or memory devices.</P>
코소보 전쟁에서 나타난 캐나다와 독일의 파병 양상 비교연구: ‘안보 정향’ 차이를 중심으로

본 연구는 1999년 3월 NATO가 주도한 코소보 전쟁에서 나타난 캐나다와 독일의 파병 양상을 비교론적 관점에서 분석하였다. 캐나다와 독일은 NATO 회원국으로 코소보 전쟁에 함께 참전하였지만, 실제 파병 양상에 있어서는 뚜렷한 차이를 보여주었다. 본 연구는 두 국가의 파병 양상 차이를 설명하기 위해 ‘안보 정향’ 요인에 주목하였다. 여기서 안보 정향은 국가 내부에서 형성된 자국 안보에 대한 일정한 태도나 방향성을 일컫는다. 분석 결과, 안보 정향은 파병정책 집행과정에 영향을 미침으로써 국가들의 안보행동 차이를 규명하는 데 충분한 설명력을 제공하였다. 구체적으로 코소보 전쟁 과정에서 캐나다는 다자안보를 선호함으로써 능동적 파병을 전개하였고, 독일은 절대안보를 고수하여 조건부적 파병을 실시하였다. 본 논문은 학계에서 그동안 분석적 관심이 적었던 국가들의 파병 양상을 검토함으로써 해외파병 연구의 지평을 확장하였다는 데 의미가 있다. This study compared and analyzed the dispatch aspect of Canada and Germany in the Kosovo war led by NATO in 1993. Canada and Germany, which belong to NATO, simultaneously participated in the Kosovo war, but showed a clear difference in actual dispatch aspect. This study paid attention to ‘security orientation’ to explain the differences in the dispatch aspect of the two countries. The security orientation means a certain attitude or direction toward national security formed within the country. As a result of the analysis, security orientation factor determined the actual dispatch aspect by affecting the dispatch policy execution process. During the Kosovo war, Canada chose to actively dispatch troop as it prefers multilateral security and Germany decided to dispatch troop conditionally with a preference for absolute security.
