Improved Phosphotyrosine Analysis by TLC and HPLC

We describe here the conditions of thin layer chromatography (TLC) and high pressures liquid chromatography (HPLC) to improve the analytical method of phosphotyrosine (p-Tyr) in biological sample. TLC was performed on silica plate with the mixture of propanol and water (2.1 : 1 v/v) as a mobile phase and $R_1$ values were 0.42, 0.39 and 0.33 for phosphotyrosine, phosphothreonine and phosphoserine, respectively. HPLC was performed on $NH_2$ column with a mobile phase of potassium biphosphate solution by UV deterction at 192 nm. The optimum condition of HPLC was obtained at 0.01 M, pH 4.5 with a clear separation within 12 min. These procedures have been applied to the analysis of phosphotyrosine obtained from tyrosine-phosphorylated enolase. Both TLC and HPLC methods were suitable to analyze tyrosine-phosphorylated protein without being affected by contaminants from hydrolysates.

The simultaneous existence of intrauterine and extrauterine pregnancies is known as a heterotopic pregnancy. Spontaneous heterotopic pregnancy is a rare event although its incidence has increased since the recent development of treatment of infertile women with ovulation induction or in-vitro fertilization and embryo transfer(IVF-ET).The theoretical rate of this condition was estimated to be approximately 1 in 30,000 pregnancies. The early diagnosis of heterotopic pregnancy is very difficult . So there is a high maternal morbidity and fetal loss. We reported a IVP - ET patient resulting in the successful delivery of live infant at 35weeks of gestational age from intrauterine pregnancy following surgical removal of ruptured concurrent extrauterine pregnancy.

Developing elite hybrid rice varieties is one important objective of rice breeding programs. Several genes related to male sterilities, restores, and pollinators have been identified through map-based gene cloning within natural variations of rice. These identified genes are good targets for introducing genetic traits in molecular breeding. This study was conducted to breed elite hybrid lines with major genes related to hybrid traits and disease/insect resistance in 240 genetic resources and F1 hybrid combinations of rice. Molecular markers were reset for three major hybrid genes (S5, Rf3, Rf4) and thirteen disease/insect resistant genes (rice bacterial blight resistance genes Xa3, Xa4, xa5, Xa7, xa13, Xa21; blast resistance genes Pita, Pib, Pi5, Pii; brown planthopper resistant genes Bph18(t) and tungro virus resistance gene tsv1). Genotypes were then analyzed using molecular marker-assisted selection (MAS). Biological assay was then performed at the Red River Delta region in Vietnam using eleven F1 hybrid combinations and two control vatieties. Results showed that nine F1 hybrid combinations were highly resistant to rice bacterial blight and blast. Finally, eight F1 hybrid rice varieties with resistance to disease/insect were selected from eleven F1 hybrid combinations. Their characteristics such as agricultural traits and yields were then investigated. These F1 hybrid rice varieties developed with major genes related to hybrid traits and disease/insect resistant genes could be useful for hybrid breeding programs to achieve high yield with biotic and abiotic resistance.

The International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV) promotes an effective system of plant variety protection and encourages the development of new varieties of plants. This international convention was initiated to standardize the system efforts and strengthen policy. The establishment of cultivar discrimination system is very important to distinguish varieties between domestic and foreign agricultural products. It is necessary for the protection of breeders’rights. In addition, it will help for more efficient and quality management of plant breeding. This study was conducted to identify and group rice varieties based on agro-morphological characteristics such as plant height, panicle length, number of tillers, culm length, leaf length, leaf width, leaf pigments and flag leaf angles. Using these parameters, statistical analysis classified a total of 243 rice varieties bred in Korea into four groups. Most rice varieties did not exhibit anthocyanin pigments on the leaves particularly on the first leaf, leaf blade, leaf sheath and auricle, except for varieties classified as black rice. Results of phylogenetic and principal component analysis (PCA) indicated that these varieties formed three largely distinct clusters according to their ecotype and morphological differentiation. This result would be useful in rice varietal identification for the protection of breeders’variety rights.
영아의 사회정서 발달과 모-영아 간 상호작용이 어린이집 적응에 미치는 영향

본 연구의 목적은 영아의 사회정서 발달과 모-영아 간 상호작용이 어린이집 적응에 미치는 영향을 살펴보는 것이다. 연구대상은 서울, 경기, 충남에 소재한 어린이집에 재원하고 있는 영아와 그들의 어머니 각각 403명이다. 측정도구는 사회정서 발달 척도, 모-영아 간 상호작용 척도, 어린이집적응 척도를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS 22.0 프로그램을 이용하여 통계분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째 영아의 어린이집 적응 수준은 영아의 연령, 성별, 어머니 학력, 취업여부에 따라 차이가 나타났다. 둘째, 영아의 어린이집 적응은 영아의 사회정서 발달 모든 하위요인과, 모-영아간 상호작용 중 어머니의 언어적 모델링 요인과 정적인 상관관계가 나타났다. 셋째, 영아의 어린이집 적응은 영아의 사회정서 발달과 모-영아간 상호작용이 유의한 영향을 미치며 특히 영아의 사회정서 발달 중 사회적 관계 능력이 가장 결정적인 요인임을 확인하였다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해 영아의 어린이집 적응을 돕기 위해 사회정서 발달 능력의 중요성과 이를 지원할 수 있는 부모교육 프로그램 실시의 중요성을 제안하였다. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of infants social emotional development and mother-infant interaction on daycare adaptation. The subjects of this study were 403 infants and their mothers each residing in daycare centers in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Chungnam. The measurement tools used were the social-emotional development scale, the mother-infant interaction scale, and the daycare adaptation scale. The collected data was statistically analyzed using the SPSS 22.0 program. The summary of the research results is as follows. First, the level of adaptation of infants to daycare centers differed according to the infant s age, gender, mother s education, and employment status. Second, the infant s adjustment to the daycare center was positively correlated with all the sub-factors of infant s social emotional development and the mother s verbal modeling factor among the mother-infant interaction. Third, it was confirmed that the infant s adaptation to the daycare center was significantly influenced by the infant s social emotional development and the mother-to-infant interaction, and the social relationship ability during the infant s social emotional development was a decisive factor. Through these research results, the importance of social emotional development ability and the importance of implementing parental education programs to support this were suggested to help infants adapt to daycare.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Improving cycle performance and rate-capability of lithium ion batteries is necessary in moving toward their use in electric vehicles. Working towards this goal, we propose an amorphous Li-Zr-O coating on the surface of a high-Ni layered transition metal oxide (LiNi<SUB>0.8</SUB>Co<SUB>0.1</SUB>Mn<SUB>0.1</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB>) <I>via</I> a simple wet process. By using residual Li on the surface of as-prepared LiNi<SUB>0.8</SUB>Co<SUB>0.1</SUB>Mn<SUB>0.1</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> particles as a Li source, a non-stoichiometric Li-Zr-O compound can be successfully formed on the surface of LiNi<SUB>0.8</SUB>Co<SUB>0.1</SUB>Mn<SUB>0.1</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> particles at a low temperature of 400 °C. The formation of an amorphous Li-Zr-O layer is beneficial in minimizing undesirable side reactions associated with residual Li at the surface and, by extension, improving the cycle performance and rate-capability of LiNi<SUB>0.8</SUB>Co<SUB>0.1</SUB>Mn<SUB>0.1</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB>. The amorphous Li-Zr-O coated LiNi<SUB>0.8</SUB>Co<SUB>0.1</SUB>Mn<SUB>0.1</SUB>O<SUB>2</SUB> exhibits a high reversible capacity of more than 190 mAh g<SUP>−1</SUP> with improved cycle performance.
