      • A high-performance flexible NO<sub>2</sub> sensor based on WO<sub>3</sub> NPs decorated on MWCNTs and RGO hybrids on PI/PET substrates

        This study explores the fabrication and evaluation of a flexible NO<SUB>2</SUB> sensor based on a tungsten trioxide nanoparticle-loaded, multi-walled carbon nanotube, reduced graphene oxide hybrid (WO<SUB>3</SUB> NP-loaded MWCNT-RGO) on a polyimide/polyethylene terephthalate (PI/PET) substrate. A viscous gel of the hybrid materials was prepared using α-terpineol. The fabricated sensor exhibits excellent NO<SUB>2</SUB> sensing with a maximum response of 17% to 5ppm, a limit of detection (LOD) of 1ppm, and relatively short response/recovery time (7/15min). The mechanical robustness of fabricated sensor was evaluated systematically at different curvature angles (0-90<SUP>o</SUP>) and after various times bending/relaxing (up to 10<SUP>7</SUP>). The sensor exhibits excellent mechanical flexibility and sensing properties at room temperature without significant performance degradation, even at a curvature angle of 90<SUP>o</SUP> and after 10<SUP>6</SUP> cycles of the bending/relaxing process. These results and the economical, light-weight and mechanically-robust features indicate that the proposed WO<SUB>3</SUB> NPs-MWCNTs-RGO hybrid sensor is a promising building block for the development of high-performance, flexible NO<SUB>2</SUB> sensors.

        In this paper, structure of involution ${\Gamma}$-semihypergroup is introduced and some theorems about this concept are stated and proved. The concept of ${\Gamma}$-hyperideal in involution ${\Gamma}$-semihypergroup is defined and some of their properties are studied. Some results on regular ${\Gamma}^*$-semihypergroups and fuzzy ${\Gamma}^*$-semihypergroups are also provided.

        Coated cysteamine, a potential feed additive for ruminants — An updated review

        For sustainable development, better performance, and less gas pollution during rumen fermentation, there is a need to find a green and safe feed additive for ruminants. Cysteamine (CS) is a biological compound naturally produced in mammalian cells. It is widely used as a growth promoter in ruminants because of its ability to control hormone secretions. It mainly controls the circulating concentration of somatostatin and enhances growth hormone production, leading to improved growth performance. CS modulates the rumen fermentation process in a way beneficial for the animals and environment, leading to less methane production and nutrients loss. Another beneficial effect of using CS is that it improves the availability of nutrients to the animals and enhances their absorption. CS also works as an antioxidant and protects the cells from oxidative damage. In addition, CS has no adverse effects on bacterial and fungal alpha diversity in ruminants. Dietary supplementation of CS enhances the population of beneficial microorganisms. Still, no data is available on the use of CS on reproductive performance in ruminants, so there is a need to evaluate the effects of using CS in breeding animals for an extended period. In this review, the action mode of CS was updated according to recently published data to highlight the beneficial effects of using CS in ruminants

        Effect of surface treated MWCNTs and BaTiO<sub>3</sub> nanoparticles on the dielectric properties of a P(VDF-TrFE) matrix

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>High dielectric constant and low loss flexible piezoelectric thin films were successfully synthesized using surface treated multi-walled carbon nanotubes (SMWCNTs) and BaTiO<SUB>3</SUB> nanoparticles (SBTO NPs) as fillers and poly (vinylidenefluoride-trifluoroethylene) (P(VDF-TrFE)) as a matrix. The discrete and insulated SMWCNTs and SBTO NPs were achieved through a chemical reaction with the α-terpineol solution. The surface treatment played a vital role in reducing the dielectric loss by insulating the material surface with OH functional groups. The as-prepared P(VDF-TrFE)-SBTO-SMWCNTs thin films were characterized in terms of surface morphology, crystalline structure, and electrical properties. The PBM3 [(P(VDF-TrFE)-SBTO-SMWCNTs (0.01 wt%)] samples revealed a maximum dielectric constant of 71 and a relatively low loss of 0.045 at a frequency of 1 kHz. Moreover, the film exhibited a very low conductivity of 19.45 μS/m at 10<SUP>5</SUP> Hz and a low leakage current density of 3.91 × 10<SUP>−9</SUP> at an applied voltage of 100 V. These results suggest the high breakdown strength for the as-prepared thin films.         In vitro Antioxidant Activities of Trianthema portulacastrum L. Hydrolysates

        Hydrolysates of Trianthema portulacastrum in acidified methanol were evaluated for their total phenolic (TP) constituents and respective antioxidant activities using in vitro assays (i.e., 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity, percent inhibition of linoleic acid peroxidation, and ferric reducing power). The observed results indicate that root, shoot, and leaf fractions of T. portulacastrum contain 50.75~98.09 mg gallic acid equivalents/g dry weight of TP. In addition, these fractions have substantial reducing potentials (0.10~0.59), abilities to inhibit peroxidation (43.26~89.98%), and DPPH radical scavenging capabilities ($6.98{\sim}311.61{\mu}g/mL$ $IC_{50}$). The experimental data not only reveal T. portulacastrum as potential source of valuable antioxidants, but also indicate that acidified methanol may be an ideal choice for the enhanced recovery of phenolic compounds with retained biological potential for the food and pharmaceutical industry.

        Effect of multi-enzymes supplementation on growth performance, meat quality, ileal digestibility, digestive enzyme activity and caecal microbiota in broilers fed low-metabolizable energy diet

        Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of using low energy diet with multi-enzymes supplementation on different biological parameters in broilers. Methods: Three hundred Arbor Acres broiler chicks were randomly divided into three groups (Cont, standard metabolizable energy(ME); L-ME, ME reduced by 50 kcal/kg without enzyme; and L-ME-MES, L-ME diet was supplemented with multi-enzymes) with five replicates per group (20 chicks per replicate) at the start of second week. Grower and finisher diets were formulated according to breed specific guide and offered with free access in respective phase (two weeks for grower [8 to 21 d]; two weeks for finisher [22 to 35 d]). External marker method was used to measure the nutrient digestibility. After feeding trial, fifteen birds (one bird per replicate) were selected randomly and slaughtered for samples collection. Results: The results exhibited no effect (p>0.05) of dietary treatments on all parameters of growth performance, carcass traits, relative weight of internal organs except bursa and overall parameters of thigh meat quality. Relative weight of bursa was significantly (p<0.05) higher in L-ME than control. Multi-enzymes supplementation in low-ME diet significantly (p<0.05) improved the breast meat pH 24 h, digestibility of crude protein, duodenum weight and length, jejunal morphology, counts of Lactobacillus spp. and Bifidobacterium spp., lipase and protease activities than control. Jejunum length was increased in both L-ME and L-ME-MES treatments than that of the control (p<0.05). Breast meat cooking loss and color lightness was lower in L-ME (p<0.05) than control. Conclusion: It can therefore be concluded that broilers could be reared on low energy diet with supplementation of multi-enzymes without compromising the growth performance. In addition, it is beneficial for other biological parameters of broilers.       • A novel tri-layer flexible piezoelectric nanogenerator based on surface- modified graphene and PVDF-BaTiO<sub>3</sub> nanocomposites

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The fabrication and characterization of a novel tri-layer piezoelectric nanogenerator (PNG) based on poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF), barium titanate (BTO), and surface-modified <I>n</I>- type graphene (<I>n</I>-Gr) have been investigated. The <I>n</I>-Gr, with its majority of negative charge carriers, plays a vital role in enhancing the energy-harvesting performance by aligning the dipoles in one direction. The tri-layer structure obtains by stacking two layers of PVDF-BTO nanocomposite films, one on each side of the <I>n</I>-Gr layer. The fabricated tri-layer PNG shows a maximum output voltage of 10V (pk-pk) along with a current of 2.5μA (pk-pk) at an applied force of 2N. Furthermore, the PNG Exhibits 5.8μW instantaneous power at 1MΩ load resistance. Moreover, the fabricated device demonstrated good stability even after 1000 pressing–releasing cycles.         An updated review on probiotics as an alternative of antibiotics in poultry — A review

        Antibiotics used to be supplemented to animal feeds as growth promoter and as an effective strategy to reduce the burden of pathogenic bacteria present in the gastro-intestinal tract. However, in-feed antibiotics also kill bacteria that may be beneficial to the animal. Secondly, unrestricted use of antibiotics enhanced the antibiotic resistance in pathogenic bacteria. To overcome above problems, scientists are taking a great deal of measures to develop alternatives of antibiotics. There is convincing evidence that probiotics could replace in-feed antibiotics in poultry production. Because they have beneficial effects on growth performance, meat quality, bone health and eggshell quality in poultry. Better immune responses, healthier intestinal microflora and morphology which help the birds to resist against disease attack were also identified with the supplementation of probiotics. Probiotics establish cross-feeding between different bacterial strains of gut ecosystem and reduce the blood cholesterol level via bile salt hydrolase activity. The action mode of probiotics was also updated according to recently published literatures, i.e antimicrobial substances generation or toxin reduction. This comprehensive review of probiotics is aimed to highlight the beneficial effects of probiotics as a potential alternative strategy to replace the antibiotics in poultry.         Foldable hydrogen sensor using Pd nanocubes dispersed into multiwall carbon nanotubes-reduced graphene oxide network assembled on nylon filter membrane

        Multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs)-supported palladium (Pd) nanocubes (NCs) with the assistant assistance of reduced graphene oxide (RGO) were synthesized via a simple chemical method to fabricate a foldable hydrogen (H<SUB>2</SUB>) sensor. Pd NCs were synthesized by a two-step chemical route (seed-mediated growth). Highly uniform colloidal Pd NCs with an average size of 70nm were simply decorated onto the MWCNTs-RGO network assembled on nylon filter membrane by filtration method. The resulting composite was consider as a novel H<SUB>2</SUB> sensing material, which showed a high response, a good selectivity as well as an excellent mechanical stability at room temperature. Furthermore, the fabricated sensor exhibited a broad detection range from 10-10,000ppm with a good linearity behavior. Moreover, the new H<SUB>2</SUB> sensor showed two-fold higher response than our previously reported Pd NPs-Gr hybrid.
