Molecular and cytological analyses of A and C genomes at meiosis in synthetic allotriploid Brassica hybrids (ACC) between B.napus (AACC) and B.oleracea (CC)

        Yan Yang1,Xiaochun Wei,Gongyao Shi,Fang Wei,Janeen Braynen,Jingshu Zhang,Baoming Tian,Gangqiang Cao,Xiaowei Zhang 한국식물학회 2017 Journal of Plant Biology Vol.60 No.2

Success of interspecific hybridization relies mostly on the adequate similarity between the implicated genomes to ensure synapsis, pairing and recombination between appropriate chromosomes during meiosis in allopolyploid species. Allotetraploid Brassica napus (AACC) is a model of natural hybridization between Brassica rapa (AA) and Brassica oleracea (CC), which are originally derived from a common ancestor, but genomic constitution of the same chromosomes probably varied among these species through time after establishment, giving rise to cytogenetic difference in the synthetic hybrids. Herein we investigated meiotic behaviors of A and C chromosomes of synthetic allotriploid Brassica hybrids (ACC) at molecular and cytological levels, which result from the interspecific cross between natural B. napus (AACC) and B.oleracea (CC), and the results showed that meiosis course was significantly aberrant in allotriploid Brassica hybrids, and chromosomes aligned chaotically at metaphase I, chromosome bridges and lags were frequently observed from later metaphase I to anaphase II during meiosis. Simultaneously, we also noticed that meiosis-related genes were abruptly down-regulated in allotriploid Brassica hybrids, which likely accounted for irregular scenario of meiosis observed in these synthetic hybrids. Therefore, these results indicated that inter-genomic exchanges of A and C chromosomes could occur frequently in synthetic Brassica hybrids, and provided an efficient approach for genetic changes of homeologous chromosomes during meiosis in polyploid B.napus breeding program.

Dynamic performance of a rotor system with an initial bow and coupling faults of imbalance-rub during whirling motion

        Yang Yang,Yiren Yang,Huajiang Ouyang,Xin Li,Dengqing Cao 대한기계학회 2019 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.33 No.10

The dynamic characteristics of a rotor system with an initial bow and coupling fault of imbalance-rub are investigated in this work. The geometrical nonlinearity of shafts becomes significant due to the large-amplitude whirling motion. Then, the influences of the initial bow and geometrical nonlinearity on the natural frequencies corresponding to the linear part of the rotor system are studied. Moreover, the coupling faults of imbalance-rub are introduced to the rotor system. Complicated nonlinear phenomena are revealed by bifurcation diagrams, time histories, Poincaré sections, and spectra. The influences of several key design parameters, such as initial bow, shaft radius, and casing stiffness, are analyzed. One of the main findings of this investigation is that when initial bow and geometrical nonlinearity coexist in a system, the resonance characteristics are obviously affected by the initial bow’s degree. This coexistence can result in the jump phenomenon, which rapidly increases the amplitude of whirling motion. These findings are useful in the fault diagnosis and feature recognition of rotating machines.

        Macro-/micro-environment-sensitive chemosensing and biological imaging

        Yang, Zhigang,Cao, Jianfang,He, Yanxia,Yang, Jung Ho,Kim, Taeyoung,Peng, Xiaojun,Kim, Jong Seung The Royal Society of Chemistry 2014 Chemical Society reviews Vol.43 No.13

<P>Environment-related parameters, including viscosity, polarity, temperature, hypoxia, and pH, play pivotal roles in controlling the physical or chemical behaviors of local molecules. In particular, in a biological environment, such factors predominantly determine the biological properties of the local environment or reflect corresponding status alterations. Abnormal changes in these factors would cause cellular malfunction or become a hallmark of the occurrence of severe diseases. Therefore, in recent years, they have increasingly attracted research interest from the fields of chemistry and biological chemistry. With the emergence of fluorescence sensing and imaging technology, several fluorescent chemosensors have been designed to respond to such parameters and to further map their distributions and variations <I>in vitro</I>/<I>in vivo</I>. In this work, we have reviewed a number of various environment-responsive chemosensors related to fluorescent recognition of viscosity, polarity, temperature, hypoxia, and pH that have been reported thus far.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>We have summarized the research progress on fluorescent sensors responsive to environmental factors, including local viscosity, polarity, temperature, hypoxia and pH. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=c4cs00051j'> </P>

DHX collector for recovery of cassiterite: Mechanistic insights and practical implications

        Yang Cao,Lei Sun,Qingqing Wang,Xin Wang,Yi Qiao,Wei Sun 한국공업화학회 2023 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.127 No.-

This study addresses the efficiency and sustainability of tin resource utilization by exploring a novel collector,C16H33NO2 (DHX), in cassiterite flotation. DHX demonstrated superior collection efficiency and abroader effective pH range in micro-flotation tests. A peak cassiterite recovery of 92.2% was achievedwith DHX at pH 7.5 ± 0.3, while BHA could achieve only 69.6%. Furthermore, DHX consistently maintaineda recovery above 70% in a wide pH range from 3 to 11. The capacity of DHX to separate cassiteritefrom calcite in mixtures underlines its remarkable selectivity. Zeta potential and contact angle measurementsshowed strong DHX adsorption on cassiterite surfaces, leading to marked enhancements inhydrophobicity and potentially augmenting flotation efficiency. FTIR and XPS analyses further confirmedthe formation of a stable ring structure between the hydroxy and oxime groups in DHX anions and Snions on the cassiterite surface. In practical applications, such as a copper-zinc-tin polymetallic mine inYunnan, China, DHX exhibited promising recovery results in gravity separation tailings. Bench-scaleflotation tests on tin-bearing tailings (0.21% Sn) resulted in a concentrate with a tin grade and recoveryrate of 2.15% and 61.27%, respectively. These results highlight DHX’s immense potential as a cassiteriteflotation collector, outperforming conventional alternatives in performance.

Dynamic Channel Allocation Control with thresholds in Wireless Cellular Networks using Simpy

Cao, Yang,Ro, Cheul-Woo The Korea Contents Association 2012 International Journal of Contents Vol.8 No.2

New and handoff calls control mechanisms are the key point to wireless cellular networks. In this paper, we present an adaptive algorithm for dynamic channel allocation scheme with guard channels and also with handoff calls waiting queue ensuring that handoff calls take priority over new calls. Our goal is to find better tradeoff between handoffs and new calls blocking probabilities in order to achieve more efficient channel utilization. Simpy is a Python based discrete event simulation system. We use Simpy to build our simulation models to get analytical data.

Participatory Video Platform : Factors Influencing the Perceived Value of Danmaku Function Users

        Cao Su Yang,반영환 한국에이치씨아이학회 2022 한국HCI학회 논문지 Vol.17 No.4

Beginner investors who are not familiar with stock investment are apt to make emotional investment decisions due to lack of investment principles and lack of experience. They also make irrational decisions by reacting sensitively to investment results and executing aggressive investments in the future. In order to prevent this psychological bias and to make rational decisions for stock investors, it is important to refine their investment behavior through continuous experience and refinement. Therefore, in this study, we conducted experiment of 2X2 between subject design with two Independent variables(partnership, ritual). The study found the main effect on the partnership elements for three dependent variables. However, no main effects were found on the ritual elements. In addition, no interaction effects were found between the partnership and ritual elements. The results suggest that the social factors of chatbot, such as partnerships, should be actively considered when designing chatbot agents that reflect the subjective characteristics of individual users. On the other hand, further research is needed on the limitations of the practical application of the ritual element.
