      • The Media Literacy of Residents in Southwestern China During the COVID-19 Epidemic

        Shan He(Shan He),Lili Yao(Lili Yao),Xingyu Zhao(Xingyu Zhao),Weiwei Liu(Weiwei Liu) 아시아사회과학학회 2023 International Science Research Vol.3 No.2

Objective To measure residents’ abilities to acquire, analyze and evaluate information on media in southwestern China and to explore its predictive factors. Methods The convenience sampling method was used. A web-based questionnaire survey was conducted among 774 residents during the Spring Festival in 2020. Results Young, highly educated, unmarried, high-income, and urban residents preferred to seek and acquire information about COVID-19 epidemic through new media channels. Elderly residents tended to obtain information through television. Residents with low educational background and rural residents were more dependent on community information media. To analyze residents’ abilities in the judgement of 15 statements about COVID-19, residents with a master’s degree or above (OR = 2.755, [95% CI 1.160-6.542]) had better media literacy in identifying false health information released on social networking. Rural residents (OR = 0.609, [95% CI 0.433-0.855]) had lower media literacy. The total score decreased by 2.6% for every one-year increase of age. Conclusion Residents’ abilities to acquire, analyze and evaluate information were affected by their demographic characteristics in southwestern China. The authorities and local communities should develop different approaches of information dissemination, with the help of traditional and new media. It is important to improve the level of residents' media literacy, in order to achieve better effect in information dissemination and reception.

Comparison of accuracy between digital and conventional implant impressions: two and three dimensional evaluations

        Chuang Bi,Xingyu Wang,Fangfang Tian,Zhe Qu,Jiaming Zhao 대한치과보철학회 2022 The Journal of Advanced Prosthodontics Vol.14 No.4

PURPOSE. The present study compared the accuracy between digital and conventional implant impressions. MATERIALS AND METHODS. The experimental models were divided into six groups depending on the implant location and the scanning span. Digital impressions were captured using the intraoral optical scanner TRIOS (3Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark). Conventional impressions were taken with the monophase impression material based on addition-cured silicones, Honigum-Mono (DMG, Hamburg, Germany). A highprecision laboratory scanner D900 (3Shape, Copenhagen, Denmark) was used to obtain digital data of resin models and stone casts. Surface tessellation language (STL) datasets from scanner were imported into the analysis software Geomagic Qualify 14 (3D Systems, Rock Hill, SC, USA), and scan body deviations were determined through two-dimensional and three-dimensional analyses. Each scan body was measured five times. The Sidak t test was used to analyze the experimental data. RESULTS. Implant position and scanning distance affected the impression accuracy. For a unilateral arch implant and the mandible models with two implants, no significant difference was observed in the accuracy between the digital and conventional implant impressions on scan bodies; however, the corresponding differences for trans-arch implants and mandible with six implants were extremely significant (P <.001). CONCLUSION. For short-span scanning, the accuracy of digital and conventional implant impressions did not differ significantly. For long-span scanning, the precision of digital impressions was significantly inferior to that of the traditional impressions.

      • Synchronous immobilization and conversion of polysulfides on a VO2-VN binary host targeting high sulfur load Li-S batteries

        Song, Yingze,Zhao, Wen,Kong, Long,Zhang, Li,Zhu, Xingyu,Shao, Yuanlong,Ding, Feng,Zhang, Qiang,Sun, Jingyu,Liu, Zhongfan The Royal Society of Chemistry 2018 ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE Vol.11 No.9

<P>Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries are deemed as one of the most promising next-generation energy storage systems. However, their practical application is hindered by existing drawbacks such as poor cycling life and low Coulombic efficiency due to the shuttle effect of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs). We herein present an <I>in situ</I> constructed VO2-VN binary host which combines the merits of ultrafast anchoring (VO2) with electronic conducting (VN) to accomplish smooth immobilization-diffusion-conversion of LiPSs. Such synchronous advantages have effectively alleviated the polysulfide shuttling, promoted the redox kinetics, and hence improved the electrochemical performance of Li-S batteries. As a result, the sulfur cathode based on the VO2-VN/graphene host exhibited an impressive rate capability with ∼1105 and 935 mA h g−1 at 1C and 2C, respectively, and maintained long-term cyclability with a low capacity decay of 0.06% per cycle within 800 cycles at 2C. More remarkably, favorable cyclic stability can be attained with a high sulfur loading (13.2 mg cm−2). Even at an elevated temperature (50 °C), the cathodes still delivered superior rate capacity. Our work emphasizes the importance of immobilization-diffusion-conversion of LiPSs toward the rational design of high-load and long-life Li-S batteries.</P>

      • Vanadium Dioxide-Graphene Composite with Ultrafast Anchoring Behavior of Polysulfides for Lithium-Sulfur Batteries

        Song, Yingze,Zhao, Wen,Zhu, Xingyu,Zhang, Li,Li, Qiucheng,Ding, Feng,Liu, Zhongfan,Sun, Jingyu American Chemical Society 2018 ACS APPLIED MATERIALS & INTERFACES Vol.10 No.18

<P>The lithium-sulfur (Li-S) battery has been deemed as one of the most promising energy-storage systems owing to its high energy density, low cost, and environmental benignancy. However, the capacity decay and kinetic sluggishness stemming from polysulfide shuttle effects have by far posed a great challenge to practical performance. We herein demonstrate the employment of low-cost, wet-chemistry-derived VO2 nanobelts as the effective host additives for the graphene-based sulfur cathode. The VO2 nanobelts displayed an ultrafast anchoring behavior of polysulfides, managing to completely decolor the polysulfide solution in 50 s. Such a fast and strong anchoring ability of VO2 was further investigated and verified by experimental and theoretical investigations. Benefitting from the synergistic effect exerted by VO2 in terms of chemical confinement and catalytic conversion of polysulfides, the Li-S batteries incorporating VO2 and graphene manifested excellent cycling and rate performances. Notably, the batteries delivered an initial discharge capacity of 1405 mAh g-1 when cycling at 0.2 C, showed an advanced rate performance of ∼830 mAh g-1 at 2 C, and maintained a stable cycling performance at high current densities of 1, 2, and 5 C over 200 cycles, paving a practical route toward cost-effective and environmentally benign cathode design for high-energy Li-S batteries.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

Improvement of oxidation resistance property of C/SiCO nanoporous ceramic composites with TaSi2-MoSi2-ZrB2-borosilicate glass coating

Xiafei Li,Junzong Feng,Guozhu Zhao,Xingyu Wu 한양대학교 청정에너지연구소 2023 Journal of Ceramic Processing Research Vol.24 No.5

To improve the oxidation resistance property of C/SiCO nanoporous ceramic composites, TaSi2-MoSi2-borosilicate glasscoatings and TaSi2-MoSi2-ZrB2-Borosilicate glass coatings were prepared on the surface of C/SiCO nanoporous ceramiccomposites through slurry brushing combined with graphite powder embedding sintering process. The coatings are smooth, flat, without cracks, and tightly bonded to the substrate material. A study was conducted on the thermal stability of coatedsamples in an air atmosphere at 1600 ℃ and the high-temperature oxidation mechanism was analyzed. The results show thatthe coating effectively improves the thermal stability of SiCO nanoporous ceramic composites, and the addition of ZrB2 furtherimproves the oxidation resistance and ablation resistance of the coated samples. At high temperatures, the borosilicate glassin the coating displays a viscous flow state, and the SiO2 glass layer formed on the coatings surface serves as an oxygen barrier. At the same time, the coating has a particle reinforced glass structure inside, which avoid the growth and propagation of cracksand reduce oxygen diffusion channels effectively.

The complete mitochondrial genome of Nephrotoma scalaris parvinotata (Brunetti 1918) (Diptera: Tipulidae) and insights into the phylogeny of Tipulomorpha

        Song Nan,Wu Qiong,Lin Xingyu,Zhang Yang,Zhao Te 한국응용곤충학회 2023 Journal of Asia-Pacific Entomology Vol.26 No.4

Craneflies (Tipuloidea or Tipulidae sensu lato) are one of the most diverse groups of true flies (Insecta, Diptera). The Tipuloidea and perhaps the Trichoceridae formed the infraorder Tipulomorpha, which is traditionally considered the most basal group of Diptera. Relationships among Tipulomorpha and the phylogenetic position of this infraorder within the whole Diptera remain to be settled. A mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) phylogeny of Diptera was produced to test the relationships within Tipulomorpha and its phylogenetic position. A complete mitogenome of Nephrotoma scalaris parvinotata (Tipuloidea, Tipulidae) was firstly sequenced with a nextgeneration sequencing approach. Compared with the published mitogenomes of Tipuloidea, the new mitoge nome had a larger genome size (17,862 nt), due to a longer non-coding control region. The gene order was identical to Drosophila yakuba. Phylogenetic reconstructions using different inference methods recovered Tipu lomorpha as monophyletic. And the Tipulomorpha was retrieved in a relatively basal position in Diptera. Within Tipulomorpha, the Tipuloidea and the Trichoceridae were strongly supported as reciprocally monophyletic. Relationships within Tipuloidea were resolved as (Pedicidae + (Limoniidae + (Cylindrotomidae + Tipulidae))). Well supported relationships include: Pedicidae was the sister group of (Limoniidae + (Tipulidae + Cylin drotomidae)); Limoniidae was paraphyletic with respect to (Tipulidae + Cylindrotomidae); Cylindrotomidae was the sister group of Tipulidae. The newly sequenced N. scalaris parvinotata clustered with other two Nephrotoma species at a derived position in Tipuloidea.

Loss of halophytism by interference with SOS1 expression.

        Oh, Dong-Ha,Leidi, Eduardo,Zhang, Quan,Hwang, Sung-Min,Li, Youzhi,Quintero, Francisco J,Jiang, Xingyu,D'Urzo, Matilde Paino,Lee, Sang Yeol,Zhao, Yanxiu,Bahk, Jeong Dong,Bressan, Ray A,Yun, Dae-Jin,Par American Society of Plant Physiologists 2009 Plant Physiology Vol.151 No.1

<P>The contribution of SOS1 (for Salt Overly Sensitive 1), encoding a sodium/proton antiporter, to plant salinity tolerance was analyzed in wild-type and RNA interference (RNAi) lines of the halophytic Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana)-relative Thellungiella salsuginea. Under all conditions, SOS1 mRNA abundance was higher in Thellungiella than in Arabidopsis. Ectopic expression of the Thellungiella homolog ThSOS1 suppressed the salt-sensitive phenotype of a Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain lacking sodium ion (Na(+)) efflux transporters and increased salt tolerance of wild-type Arabidopsis. thsos1-RNAi lines of Thellungiella were highly salt sensitive. A representative line, thsos1-4, showed faster Na(+) accumulation, more severe water loss in shoots under salt stress, and slower removal of Na(+) from the root after removal of stress compared with the wild type. thsos1-4 showed drastically higher sodium-specific fluorescence visualized by CoroNa-Green, a sodium-specific fluorophore, than the wild type, inhibition of endocytosis in root tip cells, and cell death in the adjacent elongation zone. After prolonged stress, Na(+) accumulated inside the pericycle in thsos1-4, while sodium was confined in vacuoles of epidermis and cortex cells in the wild type. RNAi-based interference of SOS1 caused cell death in the root elongation zone, accompanied by fragmentation of vacuoles, inhibition of endocytosis, and apoplastic sodium influx into the stele and hence the shoot. Reduction in SOS1 expression changed Thellungiella that normally can grow in seawater-strength sodium chloride solutions into a plant as sensitive to Na(+) as Arabidopsis.</P>

Grem1 accelerates nucleus pulposus cell apoptosis and intervertebral disc degeneration by inhibiting TGF-β-mediated Smad2/3 phosphorylation

        Chen Shunlun,Lei Linchuan,Li Zemin,Chen Fan,Huang Yuming,Jiang Guowei,Guo Xingyu,Zhao Zhuoyang,Liu Hui,Wang Hua,Liu Caijun,Zheng Zhaomin,Wang Jianru 생화학분자생물학회 2022 Experimental and molecular medicine Vol.54 No.-

Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a main cause of low back pain, and inflammatory factors play key roles in its pathogenesis. Gremlin-1 (Grem1) was reported to induce an inflammatory response in other fields. This study aimed to investigate the mechanisms of Grem1 in the degenerative process of intervertebral discs. Dysregulated genes were determined by analyzing microarray profiles. The expression of Grem1 in 17 human disc samples (male:female = 9:8) and rat models (n = 5 each group) was measured by western blotting (WB), real-time quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR), and immunohistochemistry (IHC). The regulatory effects of Grem1 on apoptosis were examined using siRNAs, flow cytometry, immunofluorescence (IF), and WB. The therapeutic effect was evaluated by locally injecting specific Grem1 siRNA into IVDD rats. The expression of Grem1 was significantly increased in human degenerative intervertebral discs; furthermore, the expression of Grem1 positively correlated with the level of intervertebral disc degeneration. Grem1 was significantly overexpressed in tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α-induced degenerative NP cells. Apoptosis in degenerative NP cells transfected with siRNA targeting Grem1 was significantly lower than that in the control group. Specific Grem1 siRNA markedly repressed the development of IVDD in surgery-induced IVDD rats. These results indicated that the expression of Grem1 was positively correlated with the severity of intervertebral disc degeneration, and Grem1 siRNA could inhibit Grem1-induced apoptosis and extracellular matrix alterations by mediating the TGF-β/Smad signaling pathway. This study may provide a therapeutic strategy for alleviating inflammation-induced apoptosis associated with intervertebral disc degeneration.
