      • Detecting Active Brain Regions by a Constrained Alternating Least Squares Nonnegative Matrix Factorization Algorithm from Single Subject’s fMRI Data

        Xiaoyu Ding,Jong-Hwan Lee(이종환),Seong-Whan Lee(이성환) 한국정보과학회 2011 한국정보과학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.38 No.1C

In this paper, we propose a constrained alternating least squares nonnegative matrix factorization algorithm (cALSNMF) to detect active brain regions from single subject's task-related fMRI data. In cALSNMF, we define a new cost function which considers the uncorrelation and noisy problems of fMRI data by adding decorrelation and smoothing constraints in original Euclidean distance cost function. We also generate a novel training procedure by modifying the update rules and combining with optimal brain surgeon (OBS) algorithm. The experimental results on visuomotor task fMRI data show that our cALSNMF fits fMRI data better than original ALSNMF in detecting task-related brain activation from single subject’s fMRI data.

Proteomic analysis of chicken peripheral blood mononuclear cells after infection by Newcastle disease virus

        Xiaoyu Deng,Yanlong Cong,Renfu Yin,Guilian Yang,Chan Ding,Shengqing Yu,Xiufan Liu,Chun-feng Wang,Zhuang Ding 대한수의학회 2014 JOURNAL OF VETERINARY SCIENCE Vol.15 No.4

Characteristic clinical manifestations of Newcastle diseaseinclude leukopenia and immunosuppression. Peripheral bloodmononuclear cells (PBMCs) are the main targets of Newcastledisease virus (NDV) infection. To survey changes in proteomicexpression in chicken PBMCs following NDV infection,PBMC proteins from 30 chickens were separated using twodimensionalelectrophoresis (2-DE) and subjected to massspectrometry analysis. Quantitative intensity analysis showedthat the expression of 78 proteins increased more thantwo-fold. Thirty-five proteins exhibited consistent changes inexpression and 13 were identified as unique proteins bymatrix assisted laser desorption ionization-time of flight massspectrometer/mass spectrometer including three that weredown-regulated and 10 that were up-regulated. These proteinswere sorted into five groups based on function: macromolecularbiosynthesis, cytoskeleton organization, metabolism, stressresponses, and signal transduction. Furthermore, Westernblot analysis confirmed the down-regulation of integrin-linkedkinase expression and up-regulation of lamin A production. These data provide insight into the in vivo response of targetcells to NDV infection at the molecular level. Additionally, results from this study have helped elucidate the molecularpathogenesis of NDV and may facilitate the development ofnew antiviral therapies as well as innovative diagnostic methods.

Nicotinamide Mononucleotide Adenylyl Transferase 2 Inhibition Aggravates Neurological Damage after Traumatic Brain Injury in a Rat Model

        Xiaoyu Gu,Haibo Ni,XuGang Kan,Chen Chen,Zhiping Zhou,Zheng Ding,Di Li,Bofei Liu 대한신경외과학회 2023 Journal of Korean neurosurgical society Vol.66 No.4

Objective : Nicotinamide mononucleotide adenylyl transferase 2 (NMNAT2) is a crucial factor for the survival of neuron. The role of NMNAT2 in damage following traumatic brain injury (TBI) remains unknown. This study was designed to investigate the role of NMNAT2 in TBI-induced neuronal degeneration and neurological deficits in rats. Methods : The TBI model was established in Sprague-Dawley rats by a weight-dropping method. Real-time polymerase chain reaction, western blot, immunofluorescence, Fluoro-Jade C staining, and neurological score analyses were carried out. Results : NMNAT2 mRNA and protein levels were increased in the injured-side cortex at 6 hours and peaked 12 hours after TBI. Knocking down NMNAT2 with an injection of small interfering RNA in lateral ventricle significantly exacerbated neuronal degeneration and neurological deficits after TBI, which were accompanied by increased expression of BCL-2-associated X protein (Bax). Conclusion : NMNAT2 expression is increased and NMNAT2 exhibits neuroprotective activity in the early stages after TBI, and Bax signaling pathway may be involved in the process. Thus, NMNAT2 is likely to be an important target to prevent secondary damage following TBI.

Effects of the Helicobacter pylori Virulence Factor CagA and Ammonium Ion on Mucins in AGS Cells

        Xiaoyu Zhang,Ding Shi,Yong-pan Liu,Wu-jie Chen,Dong Wu 연세대학교의과대학 2018 Yonsei medical journal Vol.59 No.5

Purpose: To investigate the effects of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)-CagA and the urease metabolite NH4 + on mucin expression inAGS cells. Materials and Methods: AGS cells were transfected with CagA and/or treated with different concentrations of NH4CL. Mucingene and protein expression was assessed by qPCR and immunofluorescence assays, respectively. Results: CagA significantly upregulated MUC5AC, MUC2, and MUC5B expression in AGS cells, but did not affect E-cadherin andMUC6 expression. MUC5AC, MUC6, and MUC2 expression in AGS cells increased with increasing NH4 + concentrations untilreaching a peak level at 15 mM. MUC5B mRNA expression in AGS cells (NH4 + concentration of 15 mM) was significantly higherthan that at 0, 5, and 10 mM NH4 + . No changes in E-cadherin expression in AGS cells treated with NH4 + were noted, except at 20mM. The expression of MUC5AC, MUC2, and MUC6 mRNA in CagA-transfected AGS cells at an NH4 + concentration of 15 mM wassignificantly higher than that at 0 mM, and decreased at higher concentrations. The expression of MUC5B mRNA increased withincreases in NH4 + concentration, and was significantly higher compared to that in untreated cells. No significant change in the expressionof E-cadherin mRNA in CagA-transfected AGS cells was observed. Immunofluorescence assays confirmed the observedchanges. Conclusion: H. pylori may affect the expression of MUC5AC, MUC2, MUC5B, and MUC6 in AGS cells via CagA and/or NH4 + , butnot E-cadherin.

Yan Zhang,Tengyu Wu,Xiaoyue Ding 한국정보처리학회 2022 Journal of information processing systems Vol.18 No.5

In modern logistics, the effective use of the vehicle volume and loading capacity will reduce the logistic cost. Many heuristic algorithms can solve this knapsack problem, but lots of these algorithms have a drawback, thatis, they often fall into locally optimal solutions. A fusion optimization method based on simulated annealingalgorithm (SA) and binary particle swarm optimization algorithm (BPSO) is proposed in the paper. Weestablish a logistics knapsack model of the fusion optimization algorithm. Then, a new model of expresslogistics simulation system is used for comparing three algorithms. The experiment verifies the effectivenessof the algorithm proposed in this paper. The experimental results show that the use of BPSO-SA algorithm canimprove the utilization rate and the load rate of logistics distribution vehicles. So, the number of vehicles usedfor distribution and the average driving distance will be reduced. The purposes of the logistics knapsackproblem optimization are achieved.

Implementation of Image Transmission Based on Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication

        Chang-hao Piao,Xiaoyue Ding,Jia He,장수현,Mingjie Liu 한국정보처리학회 2022 Journal of information processing systems Vol.18 No.2

Weak over-the-horizon perception and blind spot are the main problems in intelligent connected vehicles(ICVs). In this paper, a V2V image transmission-based road condition warning method is proposed to solvethem. The encoded road emergency images which are collected by the ICV are transmitted to the on-board unit(OBU) through Ethernet. The OBU broadcasts the fragmented image information including location and clockof the vehicle to other OBUs. To satisfy the channel quality of the V2X communication in different times, theoptimal fragment length is selected by the OBU to process the image information. Then, according to theposition and clock information of the remote vehicles, OBU of the receiver selects valid messages to decodethe image information which will help the receiver to extend the perceptual field. The experimental resultsshow that our method has an average packet loss rate of 0.5%. The transmission delay is about 51.59 ms inlow-speed driving scenarios, which can provide drivers with timely and reliable warnings of the roadconditions.

        Yaonan Cheng,Rui Guan,Yingbo Jin,Xiaoyu Gai,Mengda Lu,Ya Ding 대한기계학회 2023 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.37 No.7

The tool condition monitoring (TCM) can sense the real-time conditions of the tool to a large extent and warn the tool failure as early as possible. It can effectively improve processing efficiency, reduce production cost, and ensure production safety. With the rise of artificial intelligence technology, whether digital images obtained based on direct method or physical signals obtained through sensors by the indirect method can be regarded as valuable data. Using the artificial intelligence method to extract and identify the effective features in the data, mining the relationship between the tool wear or breakage and data is the key technology and difficulty of the intelligent tool condition monitoring. In this paper, the data representing tool wear or breakage characteristics are divided into image data and signal data. Moreover, the way to obtain high-quality data through image acquisition technology and multi-sensor fusion technology is discussed. Then the key principles and methods of feature extraction and decision making in TCM are studied. Finally, the future research direction is prospected based on the application of tool condition monitoring.

An approach to evaluate the sealing performance of sealing structures based on multiscale contact analyses

Wang Runliang,Liu Jianhua,Zhang Feikai,Ding Xiaoyu 한국CDE학회 2021 Journal of computational design and engineering Vol.8 No.6

The evaluation of sealing performance is important in the design stage and assembly process of sealing structures. To date, analyses of sealing structures have rarely quantitatively evaluated sealing performance: They tend to neglect microsurface topographic information or simplify rough surfaces. Herein, we propose a new and efficient simulation approach to analyse sealing performance based on a multiscale contact model. In this simulation approach, a new parameter, critical preload, is used as the index of sealing performance. The validity of the proposed index was verified using the case of a cone seal. The evolution of the contact characteristics during the assembly process, such as the real contact area, the distribution of contact pressure, and contact status, were studied in detail.
