      • Corifollitropin alfa versus daily recombinant fsh treatment for controlled ovarian stimulation in poor responders

        목적: To compare the effect of long-acting recombinant FSH (rFSH), corifollitropin alfa with daily rFSH administered during 1st 7days of controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) using GnRH antagonist multiple dose protocol (MDP) in poor responders undergoing IVF/intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). 방법: In this prospective randomized study total of 90 poor responders who were scheduled for IVF/ICSI were enrolled and divided into the corifollitropin alfa group (study group) or the daily rFSH group (control group). The diagnosis of poor responder was based on the Bologna criteria of the 2011 ESHRE consensus. In all subjects, GnRH antagonist MDP was used for COS. 결과: There were no differences in patients` characteristics between the two groups. Duration of COS was comparable between the study and control groups. The numbers of oocytes retrieved and grade I or II embryos were also similar in the two groups. However, the number of mature oocytes was higher in the study group with a borderline significance (p< .07) and the ratio of mature oocytes among total oocytes retrieved was significantly higher in the study group of 78.6 ± 13.0%, compared with 61.2 ± 16.0% in control group (p< .001). There were no differences in the clinical pregnancy rate per cycle initiated, embryo implantation rate and miscarriage rate between the two groups. 결론: Corifollitropin alfa is at least as effective as daily rFSH treatment for COS using GnRH antagonist MDP, and may improve the synchrony of follicular development in poor responders undergoing IVF/ICSI. Therefore, corifollitropin alfa may be a feasible, patient-friendly alternative for poor responders.

        심장혈관용 약물코팅풍선카테터의 개발 동향

        급격한 고령화 사회로의 진입과 서구화된 식습관에 의해 협심증, 심근경색증, 고혈압 등에 의한 심장질환자의 수가 5년간 10만명 이상 증가했다. 심장질환은 지난 8년간 꾸준히 국내 사망원인 2위를 기록 중이며, 이로 인해 연간 소모되는 의료비는 6조원에 달한다. 증가한 환자와 함께 다양한 치료법이 제시되고 있는 가운데, 현재 보편화 된 관상동맥 중재시술 중 스텐트 삽입술의 단점인 재협착이나 장기간 이중항혈소판제 복용으로 인한 출혈의 위험 증가 등의 문제점을 보완하기 위해 약물코팅풍선카테터가 개발되어 점차 상용화되고 있는데, 국내에선 2010년 ‘SeQuent Please<sup>Ⓡ</sup> (비브라운코리아)’라는 제품이 처음 출시되면서 약물코팅풍선카테터를 사용한 시술이 시작되었고, 이후 2012년 보험급여가 적용되면서 그 사용량이 본격적으로 늘어났다. 약물코팅풍선치료는 국내뿐만 아니라 전 세계적으로 사용이 증가하고 있는데, 특히 일본을 포함한 아시아태평양 지역에서 그 사용량이 급격히 증가하고 있다. 현재까지 국산 제품의 수요가 증가하고 있는 상황이며 향후, 동물시험 및 임상시험에서의 성능이 입증된다면 위험성이 높은 스텐트 삽입술에 비해 효과적인 시술이 될 것이라 예상한다. As a result of the rapid entry into an aging society and westernized eating habits, the number of heart disease patients caused by angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, and high blood pressure has increased by more than 100,000 over five years. Heart disease has consistently ranked second in the cause of death in Korea over the past eight years, and medical expenses consumed annually reach 6 trillion won. While various treatments are being proposed for more patients, drug-coated balloon catheters have been developed and gradually commercialized to solve the disadvantages of stent implantation such as restenosis and increased risk of bleeding due to long-term double antiplatelet medication. In Korea, it began to use a drug-coated balloon catheter with the first release of it called “SeQuent Please<sup>Ⓡ</sup> (Bibrown Korea)” in 2010. Its demand increased gradually as insurance benefits were applied in 2012. Drug-coated balloon angioplasty is increasing in use not only in Korea but also around the world, especially in the Asia-Pacific region, including Japan. Until now, the demand for domestic products is increasing, and if the efficiency in vivo and clinical trials is proven in the future, it is expected to be an effective procedure compared to high-risk stent implantation.

        Improvement and Application for Environmental Conservation Value Assessment Map (ECVAM) of Nationwide Land in Korea

        This study is aiming at improving the Environmental Conservation Value Assessment Map (ECVAM) of National Land in Korea. The ECVAM items are composed of legal and environmental/ecological assessments. A popular method applied to ECVAM is an overlay environmental/ecological assessment items. The purpose of this study is to offer complementary items of the ECVAM by examining assessment items. In this study we assessed the ECVAM by five methods. Method 1 is Grade 1 areas of each administrative district; Method 2 is comparing overlapped areas of each assessment items Grade 1, 2 and permission of each assessment items duplication; Method 3 is Grade 1, 2 areas by only singular assessment items; Method 4 is Grade 1 areas only of Method 2; and Method 5 is Grade 2 areas only of Method 2. Method 1 showed Seoul and other metropolitan cities revealed a large proportion of Grade I regions by the legal assessment items. Gang won-Do, showed a large proportion of Grade I regions by the environmental/ecological assessment item. Method 2 showed 93.4 % of diameter Grade II (standard for stability); forest diameter item accounted for 99.9 % by Method 3, Method 4 showed 95.7 % of forest diameter, and forest density accounted for 66.4 % by Method 5. This study contributes to reduce the complexity in the process of manufacturing ECVAM of National Land, and to raise the flexibility in the process of managing and updating this map.

        The objective of this study was to estimate the investment limit in equipment capital by Capital Recovery Method. The data used was collected from 23 Hanwoo(Korean Native Cattle) farms in 1994. The necessary time for herd size expansion was average 5 years from opening(9.7 heads) to 50 heads, 4 years from 50 to 100heads, 3 years from 100 to 150 heads, and 2 years from 150 to 200 heads, respectively. It took 14 years from opening to 200 heads of herd size. The debts for fattening cattle farms were 15.2million won for the size of 50 heads, 37.1 million won for the size of 100 heads and 89.0 million won for the size 200 heads, respectively. Average rates of debt interest were 5.1 % 7.2 and 10.8, correspendingly. As the hear size increased, debt interest rates also increased due to government funds limit. The investment limits in equipment capital perfarm household were 77.7 million won for 50 heads, 135.1 for 100 heads, and 294.3 for 200 heads for 5,500 won per kg liveweight, 70.7 million won for 50 heads, 122.6 for 100 heads and 269.3 for 200 heads for 5,000 won per kg liveweight, 63.6 million won for 50 heads 110.0 for 100 heads and 244.2 for 200 heads for 4,500 won per kg liveweight.

      • Very high open-circuit voltage in dual-gate graphene/silicon heterojunction solar cells

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Two dimensional (2D) layered materials and their heterojunctions with other materials are attracted because of their remarkable electrical and optical properties. In particular, graphene/semiconductor Schottky heterojunction is used for high performance solar cells. Here, we demonstrated very high open circuit voltage (<I>V</I> <SUB> <I>oc</I> </SUB> <I>)</I> in graphene/silicon heterojunction solar cell by dual-gate electric field application. The low density of states near Dirac point in graphene allows large modulation of graphene Fermi-level and corresponding Schottky barrier in a graphene/silicon junction. The top and bottom gate electric fields independently adjust the built-in potentials of respective upper and lower silicon energy band to induce higher band bending (1.22 eV) than the bandgap (1.12 eV). As a result, a maximum <I>V</I> <SUB> <I>oc</I> </SUB> of 0.94 V is achieved at the − 8 V of top-gate voltage and 10 V of bottom-gate voltage, exceeding highest known <I>V</I> <SUB>oc</SUB> for previous graphene/silicon solar cell (<I>V</I> <SUB>oc</SUB> = 0.61 V) and the S-Q Limit (0.84 V) of conventional silicon solar cell – a thermodynamic limit for the energy conversion efficiency of solar cells with a single band gap energy.       • The Effect of Thermomechanical Treatment of the Grain Size in FeMnSi Based Alloys

        The effects of manganese and grain size on the martensitic transformation have been studied by X-ray diffraction, microscopy and dilatometry in Fe-13.3Mn-5Cr-5Co-3Si(alloy A), Fe-15.6Mn-5Cr-5Co-3Si(alloy B) and Fe-31.7Mn-5Si(alloy C) alloys. The α' martensite is formed by γ→α', γ→ε→α' martensitic transformation in alloys A and B, while the only εmartensite is formed by γ→εmartensitic transformation in alloy C on cold rolling. The reduction rates were 75, 70 and 20% in order of alloys A, B and C. The strain induced martensitic transformation and its reverse transformation characteristics have been discussed with respect to grain size in alloy B cold-rolled and annealed at various temperatures.

        Antitumor Activity and Acquired Resistance Mechanism of Dovitinib (TKI258) in <i>RET</i>-Rearranged Lung Adenocarcinoma

        <P><I>RET</I> rearrangement is a newly identified oncogenic mutation in lung adenocarcinoma (LADC). Activity of dovitinib (TKI258), a potent inhibitor of FGFR, VEGFR, and PDGFR, in <I>RET</I>-rearranged LADC has not been reported. The aims of the study are to explore antitumor effects and mechanisms of acquired resistance of dovitinib in <I>RET</I>-rearranged LADC. Using structural modeling and <I>in vitro</I> analysis, we demonstrated that dovitinib induced cell-cycle arrest at G<SUB>0</SUB>–G<SUB>1</SUB> phase and apoptosis by selective inhibition of RET kinase activity and ERK1/2 signaling in <I>RET</I>-rearranged LC-2/ad cells. Strong antitumor effect of dovitinib was observed in an LC-2/ad tumor xenograft model. To identify the acquired resistance mechanisms to dovitinib, LC-2/ad cells were exposed to increasing concentrations of dovitinib to generate LC-2/ad DR cells. Gene-set enrichment analysis of gene expression and phosphor-kinase revealed that Src, a central gene in focal adhesion, was activated in LC-2/ad DR cells. Saracatinib, an src kinase inhibitor, suppressed ERK1/2 phosphorylation and growth of LC-2/ad DR cells.         Daurinol Enhances the Efficacy of Radiotherapy in Lung Cancer via Suppression of Aurora Kinase A/B Expression

        <P>The aurora kinases constitute one family of serine/threonine kinases whose activity is essential for mitotic progression. The aurora kinases are frequently upregulated in human cancers and are associated with sensitivity to chemotherapy in certain ones. In the present study, we investigated whether aurora kinases could be a target to overcome radioresistance or enhance the radiosensitivity of lung cancer. For that purpose, we determined the therapeutic potential of daurinol, an investigational topoisomerase inhibitor, alone and in combination with radiation, by observing its effect on aurora kinases. Daurinol decreased cell viability and proliferation in human colon and lung cancer cells. Gene expression in daurinol-treated human colon cancer cells was evaluated using RNA microarray. The mRNA expression of 18 genes involved in the mitotic spindle check point, including aurora kinase A (AURKA) and aurora kinase B (AURKB), was decreased in daurinol-treated human colon cancer cells as compared with vehicle-treated cells. As expected, radiation increased expression levels of AURKA and AURKB. This increase was effectively attenuated by siRNAs against AURKA and AURKB, which suppressed cell growth and increased apoptosis under radiation. Furthermore, the expression of AURKA and AURKB was suppressed by daurinol in the presence or absence of radiation in colon and lung cancer cells. Daurinol alone or in combination with radiation decreased lung cancer growth in xenograft mouse models.
