        Emotional Regulation and Executive Function Deficits in Unmedicated Chinese Children with Oppositional Defiant Disorder

        ObjectiveaaThis study aims to explore the feature of emotional regulation and executive functions in oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) children. MethodsaaThe emotional regulation and executive functions of adolescents with ODD, as well as the relationship between the two factors were analyzed using tools including Adolescent Daily Emotional Regulation Questionnaire (ADERQ), Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) and Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Automated Battery (CANTAB), in comparison with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) children without behavioral problem and healthy children; the ADERQ assessed emotional regulation ability and others were used to assess executive function. ResultsaaCompared to normal children, the ODD group displayed significant differences in the scores of cognitive reappraisal, rumination, expressive suppression, and revealing of negative emotions, as well as in the score of cognitive reappraisal of positive emotions. WCST perseverative errors were well correlated with rumination of negative emotions (r=0.47). Logistic regression revealed that the minimum number of moves in the Stocking of Cambridge (SOC) test (one test in CANTAB) and negative emotion revealing, were strongly associated with ODD diagnosis. ConclusionaaChildren with ODD showed emotion dysregulation, with negative emotion dysregulation as the main feature. Emotion dysregulation and the lack of ability to plan lead to executive function deficits. The executive function deficits may guide us to understand the deep mechanism under ODD.

        Prediction of Screw Loosening After Dynamic Pedicle Screw Fixation With Lumbar Polyetheretherketone Rods Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging-Based Vertebral Bone Quality Score

        Objective: To investigate the correlation between magnetic resonance imaging-based vertebral bone quality (VBQ) score and screw loosening after dynamic pedicle screw fixation with polyetheretherketone (PEEK) rods, and evaluate its predictive value. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the patients who underwent dynamic pedicle screw fixation with PEEK rods from March 2017 to June 2022. Data on age, sex, body mass index, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia history, long-term smoking, alcohol consumption, VBQ score, L1–4 average Hounsfield unit (HU) value, surgical fixation length, and the lowest instrumented vertebra were collected. Logistic regression analysis was employed to assess the relationship between VBQ score and pedicle screw loosening (PSL). Results: A total of 24 patients experienced PSL after surgery (20.5%). PSL group and nonPSL group showed statistical differences in age, number of fixed segments, fixation to the sacrum, L1–4 average HU value, and VBQ score (p < 0.05). The VBQ score in the PSL group was higher than that in the non-PSL group (3.56 ± 0.45 vs. 2.77 ± 0.31, p < 0.001). In logistic regression analysis, VBQ score (odds ratio, 3.425; 95% confidence interval, 1.552–8.279) were identified as independent risk factors for screw loosening. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for VBQ score predicting PSL was 0.819 (p < 0.05), with the optimal threshold of 3.15 (sensitivity, 83.1%; specificity, 80.5%). Conclusion: The VBQ score can independently predict postoperative screw loosening in patients undergoing lumbar dynamic pedicle screw fixation with PEEK rods, and its predictive value is comparable to HU value.

        Pure blue emission from undoped organic light emitting diode based on anthracene derivative

        This paper presents organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) which were fabricated by using undoped 9,10-di(2-naphthyl)anthracene (ADN) as the emitting layer, N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis(3-methylphenyl)-1,1'-biphenyl-4,4'-amine (TPD) as the hole transporting layer, and one of tris-(8-hydroxy-quinolinato) aluminum (Alq3), 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (Bphen) and 2-tert-butylphenyl-5-biphenyl- 1,3,4-oxadiazole (PBD) as the electron transporting layer. By optimization for the thickness of device, efficient pure blue organic light emitting diodes were obtained, which is attributed to the synergy of both the hole transporting layer and the electron transporting layer.         This letter presents a deep blue organic light emitting diode which was fabricated by using 9,10-di(2-naphthyl)anthracene as a dopant and 4,4'-N,N'-dicarbazole-biphenyl as a host. The Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage coordinates of (0.1516, 0.0836) were achieved in the cell, which is very close to the National Television Standards Committee standard of (0.14, 0.08). Meanwhile, maximum luminance over 6500 cd/cm2 and maximum current efficiency of 3.5 cd/A were also obtained. This letter presents a deep blue organic light emitting diode which was fabricated by using 9,10-di(2-naphthyl)anthracene as a dopant and 4,4'-N,N'-dicarbazole-biphenyl as a host.         Developing the Symptoms and Functional Impairment Rating Scale: A Multi-Dimensional ADHD Scale

        ObjectiveaaThis research developed a practical, multi-dimensional attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) rating scale (i.e., the Symptoms and Functional Impairment Rating Scale, SFIRS) for Chinese children, aged 6–12 years, with ADHD. MethodsaaThe structural validity, criterion validity, internal consistency, and test-retest reliability of the scale were evaluated. Item screening was conducted with 412 ADHD patients and 322 developmentally typical controls. ResultsaaThe scale includes 44 items, divided among Hyperactivity-Impulsivity, Self-Control, Inattention, Self-Management, Academic Performance, and Social Interaction. The six-factor model showed good data fit, with each factor significantly correlated with its corresponding criterion (r=0.690–0.841). The Cronbach’s α of the full scale was 0.976. Total score test-retest reliability was r=0.816 (p<0.01). ConclusionaaThe SFIRS thus demonstrated good reliability and validity and may be used to assess ADHD among children aged 6–12 years in China.

        RGB tricolor produced by white-based top-emitting organic light-emitting diodes with microcavity structure

        RGB pixels by microcavity top-emitting organic light-emitting diode (TOLED) is benecial to both minimizing the loss of light andimproving the color purity and the eciency. Based on the multi-emitting layers, white organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) andmicrocavity TOLEDs were prepared. TOLEDs were fabricated using Ag/ITO as the reector and adjusting layer, Al/Ag as semi-trans-cavity and the color of the device have been changed. So we get RGB tricolor devices. The peak wavelengths are 476 nm, 539 nm,601 nm, Commission Internationale d’Eclairage (CIE) coordinates are (0.133,0.201), (0.335,0.567), (0.513,0.360), FWHM are 32 nm,50 nm, 73 nm for blue, green and red, respectively.

        Red organic light-emitting devices based on a pentacene derivative

        A more steric hindrance pentacene derivative, 6,13-di-(3,5-diphenyl) phenylpentacene (PDT) is synthesized in this experiment. And this manuscript presents the red emission organic light-emitting devices based on tris-(8-hydroxy- quinolinato) aluminum (Alq_3) co-doped with 6,13-di-(3,5-diphenyl) phenylpentacene (PDT), and 5,6,11,12-tetraphenylnaphthacene (rubrene). By measuring and analyzing the intensity of red emission and Commission Internationale de l’Eclairage (CIE) coordinates of the devices with different rubrene concentrations and thicknesses of active layer, an optimized structure of [ITO/TPD (50 nm)/Alq_3: 3mol%PDT:1mol%rubrene(60 nm)/Bphen(25 nm)/LiF/Al] is obtained. The experimental results suggest that rubrene assists energy transfer from Alq3 to PDT in composite of Alq_3:PDT:rubrene,which results in relatively pure red emission. A red emission with chromaticity coordinates (x = 0.61,y = 0.37) is also obtained with the emitting layer of [Alq_3:3 mol% PDT:1 mol% rubrene] within the driving current density range of 12―120 mA/cm^2. A maximum luminance efficiency of 2.4 cd/A is measured at current density of 120 mA/cm^2 and high brightness of 2894 cd/m^2.

      • Chemical processing of water-soluble species and formation of secondary organic aerosol in fogs

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>A field study on fog chemistry and aqueous-phase processing of aerosol particles was conducted in Fresno, California's San Joaquin Valley (SJV) during wintertime. Fog droplets were collected while interstitial submicron aerosol was characterized in real time using a High Resolution Time-of-Flight Aerosol Mass Spectrometer (HR-AMS). The fog samples were later analyzed using HR-AMS, ion chromatography (IC), and total organic carbon analyzer (TOC). Compared to interstitial aerosol, dissolved solutes in fog waters were composed of higher fractions of ammonium, nitrate, sulfate, methanesulfonic acid, and oxygenated organic compounds, likely due to aqueous formation of secondary species as well as enhanced gas-to-particle partitioning of water-soluble gases under humid conditions. The low-volatility dissolved organic matter in fog water (F-OA) was moderately oxidized with an average oxygen-to-carbon (O/C) ratio of 0.42. The chemical composition of F-OA appeared to be overall similar to that of oxygenated organic component in interstitial aerosol (OOA) and the HR-AMS mass spectra of F-OA and OOA are highly similar (r<SUP>2</SUP> > 0.95). However, there are also significant chemical differences as F-OA appeared to contain a larger fraction of carboxylic functional groups than OOA, indicating enhanced organic acid formation through aqueous-phase reactions. In addition, F-OA was composed of substantially more nitrogen-containing compounds, with an average N/C ratio ∼4 times that of OOA. Most strikingly was that the F-OA spectra showed substantial enhancements of the C<SUB>x</SUB>H<SUB>y</SUB>N<SUB>2</SUB> <SUP>+</SUP> (x ≥ 0; y ≥ 0) ions, which were likely contributed by imidazole- and/or pyrazine-based compounds formed from the aqueous reactions of aldehydes with amino compounds. The results of this study demonstrated that aqueous reactions in atmospheric droplets can significantly modify aerosol composition and contribute to the formation of oxygenated and nitrogen-containing organic compounds in atmospheric aerosol particles. This finding is important for understanding aerosol's effects on human health, air quality, and climate.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> HR-AMS study of fog processing of PM1 in San Joaquin Valley of CA during winter. </LI> <LI> Fog waters are enriched of secondary inorganic and organic aerosol species. </LI> <LI> Organic residuals in fog waters (FOM) is moderately oxidized (average O/C = 0.42). </LI> <LI> FOM has more abundant carboxylic acid and organic nitrogen compounds than OOA. </LI> <LI> This is evidence for forming imidazole- or pyrazine-based compounds in fog waters. </LI> </UL> </P>
