      • Modeling urban building energy use: A review of modeling approaches and procedures

        Li, Wenliang,Zhou, Yuyu,Cetin, Kristen,Eom, Jiyong,Wang, Yu,Chen, Gang,Zhang, Xuesong Elsevier 2017 ENERGY Vol.141 No.-

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>With rapid urbanization and economic development, the world has been experiencing an unprecedented increase in energy consumption and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. While reducing energy consumption and GHG emissions is a common interest shared by major developed and developing countries, actions to enable these global reductions are generally implemented at the city scale. This is because baseline information from individual cities plays an important role in identifying economical options for improving building energy efficiency and reducing GHG emissions. Numerous approaches have been proposed for modeling urban building energy use in the past decades. This paper aims to provide an up-to-date review of the broad categories of energy models for urban buildings and describes the basic workflow of physics-based, bottom-up models and their applications in simulating urban-scale building energy use. Because there are significant differences across models with varied potential for application, strengths and weaknesses of the reviewed models are also presented. This is followed by a discussion of challenging issues associated with model preparation and calibration.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Advances in urban buildings energy models are reviewed. </LI> <LI> Strengths and weaknesses of urban building energy models are discussed. </LI> <LI> The workflow of physics-based bottom-up models are illuminated. </LI> <LI> Challenges and future research avenues in urban buildings energy use modeling are highlighted. </LI> </UL> </P>

[Ni(2,2'-bipy)3]Cl2 activated sepiolite clay with high photocatalytic and oil–water separation abilities

Shunqiang Chen,Wenliang Li,Feng Li,Taohai Li,Wei Cao 한국공업화학회 2019 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.80 No.-

Novel [Ni(2,20-bipy)3]Cl2 activated sepiolite clay composites have been successfully synthesized by ahydrothermal reaction method. The activated clays are endowed with much higher photocatalyticabilities than the raw one. Degradation ratios of rhodamine B and methyl orange under UV light werefound up to 99.8% and 95.4% within 120 min. Beside efficient dye degradations, a high H2 evolution rate of12.5 umol/g/h was reached by using the [Ni(2,20-bipy)3]Cl2/sepiolite composite as the catalyst. Coatingthe as-synthesized material on surfaces leads to extraordinary superhydrophobic and superoleophilicproperties. The cheap materials can be widely used in photocatalytic water purification and/or oil-watermixture separations.

Generalized Anisotropic Sparse Grid Integrals Based on Adaptive High Dimension Model Representation for Moment Estimation

        Zhengliang Li,Wenliang Fan,Runyu Liu,Xiangqian Sheng 대한토목학회 2021 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.25 No.12

Estimation of statistical moments of structural response effectively and accurately is still one of the main topics for analysis of random systems. For the sake of reducing function evaluations to alleviate curse of dimensionality and improve the accuracy in moment estimation, a generalized anisotropic sparse grid integral based on the adaptive high dimensional model representation and appropriate reference variables is proposed. By introducing different transformations, a system with general variables is transformed into the one with appropriate independent reference variables and a generalized anisotropic sparse grid integral will be presented for moment estimation. Then, anisotropic sparse grid collections should be divided into several mutually exclusive sub-collections and the generalized anisotropic sparse grid integral (SGI) can be remodeled in a new form. With this new form, the adaptive high dimensional model representation can be introduced for function evaluations conveniently, which can be regarded as an alternative way to evaluate functions precisely and efficiently without any approximation. Finally, several examples are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method.

Research on Mechanism, Properties, and Application of Oxidized–Stretched Wool Fiber

Ke Li,Wenliang Xue 한국섬유공학회 2023 Fibers and polymers Vol.24 No.1

The quality of wool fiber is essential for wool textiles, especially for clothing manufacture and fabric comfort. Wool fiberstretching method is the physical–mechanical way to gain fine wool with short cycle time, low cost, and good outcome. Whileit still needs to improve the properties of the stretched wool products, to meet the market requirements. In this work, themechanism and properties of wool fiber are investigated by combining oxidation and stretching methods, and the propertiesof yarns and fabrics made of the oxidized–stretched wool fiber after dyeing and other technological processes are compared. The results demonstrate that the properties of oxidized–stretched wool fiber and yarn are promoted, and the fabric productsshow higher qualities in the aspects, such as hand feeling, shrink-resist property, and dimensional stability. Moreover, it isdemonstrated that the addition of gelatine can repair the damage of oxidized–stretched wool fiber, thereby enhancing theperformance of wool textiles.

Coriolis Coupling Influence on the H+LiH Reaction

Zhai, Hongsheng,Li, Wenliang,Liu, Yufang Korean Chemical Society 2014 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.35 No.1

We have reported the reaction probability, integral reaction cross section, and rate constant for the title system calculated with the aid of a time-dependent wave packet approach. The ab initio potential energy surface (PES) of Prudente et al. (Chem. Phys. Lett. 2009, 474, 18) is employed for the purpose. The calculations are carried out over the collision energy range of 0.05-1.4 eV for the two reaction channels of H + LiH ${\rightarrow}$ Li + $H_2$ and $H_b$ + $LiH_a$ ${\rightarrow}$ $LiH_b$ + $H_a$. The Coriolis coupling (CC) effect are taken into account. The importance of including the Coriolis coupling quantum scattering calculations are revealed by the comparison between the Coriolis coupling and the centrifugal sudden (CS) approximation calculations.

      • A Multi-dimensional Evidence-based Trust Evaluation Model and Algorithm

Wenbao Jiang,Qijing Li,Wenliang Chen 보안공학연구지원센터 2015 International Journal of Security and Its Applicat Vol.9 No.5

Trust evaluation is increasingly important for collaboration in the Internet today. We propose a multi-dimensional evidence-Based trust evaluation model named EBTrust model, which expands the types and sources of evidence. We put both transaction feedback and the network operating behavior information into this model. And we improve the D-S evidence theory and propose a new rule of evidence synthesis that based on the conflict intensity (G) and efficient conflict (Gh), so we call it G-Gh synthesis rule, which can not only solve the high confliction and complete conflict feature of multi-dimensional evidences but also the problem of uncertainty in the process of trust evaluation. The example analysis and experimental results show that the EBTrust model can resist conspiracy and malicious comment behavior.

Synthesis Backbone-Dual-Responsive of Hyperbranched Poly(bis(N,N-ethyl acrylamide))s By RAFT

        Yonggang Wu,Libin Bai,Guang Li,Wenliang Li,Sujuan Wang,Xinwu Ba,Guoqiang Zhou,Hongchi Zhao 한국고분자학회 2014 Macromolecular Research Vol.22 No.11

Hyperbranched poly(bis(N,N-ethyl acrylamide))s (HPNAMs) with many vinyls as terminal groups weresynthesized successfully using reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer polymerization (RAFT). Detailedanalyses, based on the molecular weight, α value, degree of branching (DB), and lower critical solution temperature (LCST)obtained from nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), multi detector-size exclusion chromatography (MDSEC), ultravioletvisible(UV-vis) spectroscopy, and dynamic light scattering (DLS), indicate that we acquired backbone-temperatureand pH responsive HPNAM. Factors, such as DB, molecular weight, and pH value, that affect the LCST were investigated. It was found that the molecular weights of the hyperbranched polymers show significant influence on the LCSTs. For the HPNAMs with low molecular weight, the LCSTs decreased as the DB increased, and the LCSTs can also beadjusted by changing the pH value of solutions. Furthermore, the result of cell cytotoxicity indicates that this new dualresponsive hyperbranched polymer has low cytotoxicity and exhibits potential for biomedical applications.

Construction of Strontium Titanate/Binary Metal Sulfide Heterojunction Photocatalysts for Enhanced Visible-Light-Driven Photocatalytic Activity

        Yongwei Yu,Qing Yang,Jiangquan Ma,Wenliang Sun,Chong Yin,Xiazhang Li,Jun Guo,Qingyan Jiang,Zhiyuan Lu 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2018 NANO Vol.13 No.11

A novel strontium titanate/binary metal sulfide (SrTiO3/SnCoS4) heterostructure was synthesized by a simple two-step hydrothermal method. The visible-light-driven photocatalytic performance of SrTiO3/SnCoS4 composites was evaluated in the degradation of methyl orange (MO) under visible light irradiation. The photocatalytic performance of SrTiO3/SnCoS4-5% is much higher than that of pure SrTiO3, SnCoS4, SrTiO3/SnS2 and SrTiO3/CoS2. The SrTiO3/SnCoS4 composite material with 5 wt.% of SnCoS4 showed the highest photocatalytic efficiency for MO degradation, and the degradation rate could reach 95% after 140 min irradiation time. The enhanced photocatalytic activity was ascribed to not only the improvement of visible light absorption efficiency, but also the construction of a heterostructure which make it possible to effectively separate photoexcited electrons and holes in the two-phase interface.
