Tool wear state recognition under imbalanced data based on WGAN-GP and lightweight neural network ShuffleNet

        Wen Hou,Hong Guo,Bingnan Yan,Zhuang Xu,Chao Yuan,Yuan Mao 대한기계학회 2022 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.36 No.10

The tool is an important part of machining, and its condition determines the operational safety of the equipment and the quality of the workpiece. Therefore, tool condition monitoring (TCM) is of great significance. To address the imbalance of the tool monitoring signal and achieve a lightweight model, a TCM method based on WGAN-GP and ShuffleNet is proposed in this paper. The tool monitoring data are enhanced and balanced using WGAN-GP, and the 1D signal data are converted into 2D grayscale images. The existing ShuffleNet is improved by adding a channel attention mechanism to construct the entire model. The tool wear state is recognized through experimental validation of the milling dataset and compared with those through other models. Results show that the proposed model achieves an accuracy of 99.78 % in recognizing the wear state of tools under imbalanced data while ensuring a light weight, showing the superiority of the method.

Utilizing Fragmented Bandwidth in a Staggered Striping Multimedia System

Hou, Wen-Chi,Pan, Yang,Che, Dunren Korea Information Processing Society 2008 Journal of information processing systems Vol.4 No.1

In this paper, we discuss the use of fragmented bandwidth to improve the performance of staggered striping in a multimedia system. It is observed that potential disruptions can occur when nonconsecutive idle disks are used for displaying multimedia objects. We have identified useful retrieval patterns and shown that with proper selections of fragmented disks and a simple buffering scheme, disruptions can be easily eliminated.

독일 실험 애니메이션〈균형〉의 서사 분석 연구

        후웬정(Hou Wen-Jing),김재웅(Kim, Jea-Woong) 한국만화애니메이션학회 2022 만화애니메이션연구 Vol.- No.66

Experimental animation is a kind of experimental film and television art. In the historical process of animation development, the creators of experimental animation continue to breakthrough the boundaries of animation consciousness and provide new ideas and inspirations. As the main means for creators to express their ideas, the narrative mode in experimental animation plays a very important role in the exploration and creation of animation narrative content and form. German experimental animation “Balance” is an experimental animated short film produced by German producers and animation artists Christophe Lauen stein and Wolfgang Lauen stein in 1989. It won the academy Award for Best Animated Short film at the 62nd Academy Awards in 1990. “Balance” only seven minutes, through agroup of freeze frames to explain the Unique German way of thinking, the nake dindividual humanity and the true meaning of balance. The film uses a simple, brief and special way of narration without dialogue to spread out human nature naked in front of us, which is popular and deeply reflected in the minds of the audience, bringing infinite spiritual shock to the audience. From the intuition and hint, from the rationality in and around the virtual reality, a life philosophy to do the best explanation. In animation, audio and visual language studies, although experimental animation in order to explore visual expression, but because of the diversification of expression in the narrative way has its own particularity, which is very has the value of in-depth study, but the current domestic animation, especially for experimental animation narrative theory research isvery scarce. So based on the experimental animation “balance” in Germany, for example, by analyzing the role modelling, colour, dialogue, prop sand the use of digital meaning, hope in experimental animation special narrative dig up more inner link and theoretical insights and application level, for the animation creator to provide more theoretical basis in the actual creation.

Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Antibiotic-Impregnated Shunt Catheters on Anti-Infective Effect of Hydrocephalus Shunt

        Zhou, Wen-xiu,Hou, Wen-bo,Zhou, Chao,Yin, Yu-xia,Lu, Shou-tao,Liu, Guang,Fang, Yi,Li, Jian-wen,Wang, Yan,Liu, Ai-hua,Zhang, Hai-jun The Korean Neurosurgical Society 2021 Journal of Korean neurosurgical society Vol.64 No.2

Objective : Shunt infection is a common complication while treating hydrocephalus. The antibiotic-impregnated shunt catheter (AISC) was designed to reduce shunt infection rate. A meta-analysis was conducted to study the effectiveness of AISCs in reduction of shunt infection in terms of age, follow-up time and high-risk patient population. Methods : This study reviewed literature from three databases including PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library (from 2000 to March 2019). Clinical studies from controlled trials for shunt operation were included in this analysis. A subgroup analysis was performed based on the patient's age, follow-up time and high-risk population. The fixed effect in RevMan 5.3 software (Cochrane Collaboration) was used for this meta-analysis. Results : This study included 19 controlled clinical trials including 10105 operations. The analysis demonstrated that AISC could reduce the infection rate in shunt surgery compared to standard shunt catheter (non-AISC) from 8.13% to 4.09% (odds ratio [OR], 0.48; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.40-0.58; p=0.01; I2=46%). Subgroup analysis of different age groups showed that AISC had significant antimicrobial effects in all three groups (adult, infant, and adolescent). Follow-up time analysis showed that AISC was effective in preventing early shunt infections (within 6 months after implant). AISC is more effective in high-risk population (OR, 0.24;95% CI, 0.14-0.40; p=0.60; I2=0%) than in general patient population. Conclusion : The results of meta-analysis indicated that AISC is an effective method for reducing shunt infection. We recommend that AISC should be considered for use in infants and high-risk groups. For adult patients, the choice for AISC could be determined based on the treatment cost.

Chinese herbal medicine for drug-induced liver injury in patients with HIV/AIDS: A systematic review of randomized controlled trials

        Zhang Xiao-wen,Li Jing,Hou Wen-Bin,Jiang Yue,Zheng Ruo-Xiang,Xu De-hao,Shen Chen,Robinson Nicola,Liu Jian-Ping 한국한의학연구원 2023 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.12 No.1

Background: To explore the effectiveness and safety of Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) for drug-induced liver injury (DILI) in patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)/acquired immunodeficiency syn- drome (AIDS). Methods: A systematic search was made of eight databases (Pubmed, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Embase, CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, Sinomed) and two trial registries (WHO ICTRP, ClinicalTrials.gov) from in- ception to September 2022. The effect size was presented as risk ratio (RR) or mean difference (MD) with their 95% confidence interval (CI). The Cochrane Risk of Bias and Grading of Recommendations, Assess- ment, Development and Evaluations (GRADE) tools were used for quality appraisal. Results: Ten randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 732 participants were included. Comparing CHM alone with routine treatment, the CHM group showed lower aspartate aminotransferase (MD = -11.47 U/L, 95%CI[-13.05, -9.89], low certainty), lower alanine aminotransferase (MD = -2.68 U/L, 95%CI[-4.27, - 1.08], low certainty), lower total bilirubin (MD = -4.31 mmol/L, 95%CI[-5.66, -2.96], low certainty), lower bilirubin direct (MD = -3.19 mmol/L, 95%CI[-3.87, -2.51], low certainty), and higher effective rate (assessed by symptoms and liver indicators) (RR = 1.13, 95%CI[1.06, 1.20], low certainty). A significant difference was also found in CHM plus routine treatment versus routine treatment in the previous outcomes. No signif- icant difference was found on helper T cells among these comparisons. Only one RCT reported safety of CHM and found no adverse reaction during the trial. Conclusions: CHM may improve the liver function indices and effective rate for HIV/AIDS patients with DILI. However, the sample size was small and quality was low. Larger-samples of high-quality trials are needed.

Formation Mechanism Analysis and Detection of Charged Particles in an Aero-engine Gas Path

Wen, Zhenhua,Hou, Junxing,Jiang, ZhiQiang The Korean Society for Aeronautical and Space Scie 2015 International Journal of Aeronautical and Space Sc Vol.16 No.2

The components of an aero-engine gas path cannot be monitored in a timely way due to a lack of real-time monitoring technologies. As an attempt to address this problem, we have conducted research on a condition monitoring technology based on the charging characteristics of particles in an aero-engine gas path, and emphatically analyze the formation of particles in an aero-engine gas path, the charging mechanism of carbon particles and the factors that influence the charge quantity and polarity. The verification experiments are performed on the simulated experiment platform and a turbo-shaft engine test bench. The results show the carbon particles' carry charge, and an obvious change in the total electrostatic charge level in the aero-engine gas path due to the increased carbon particles produced by burning or abnormal metal particles; the charge number is related to the size of particles, and the bigger carbon particles carry a negative charge and metal particles carry a positive charge; the change in engine power can lead to an obvious change in the level of electrostatic charge in the gas path, and the change in electrostatic charge results from the extra carbon particles formed in the rich-oil burning process. The research provides a reference for establishing the baseline of electrostatic charge while the engine runs on different power. The study also demonstrates the validity of the electrostatic monitoring technology and establishes a base for developing the application of electrostatic monitoring technology in aero-engines.

Incidentally Detected Enhancing Breast Lesions on Chest Computed Tomography

        Wen-Chiung Lin,Hsian-He Hsu,Chao-Shiang Li,Jyh-Cherng Yu,Giu-Cheng Hsu,Cheng-Ping Yu,Tsun-Hou Chang,Guo-Shu Huang 대한영상의학회 2011 Korean Journal of Radiology Vol.12 No.1

Objective: To evaluate the nature and imaging appearance of incidental enhancing breast lesions detected on a routine contrast-enhanced chest CT. Materials and Methods: Twenty-three patients with incidental enhancing breast lesions on contrast-enhanced chest CT were retrospectively reviewed. The breast lesions were reviewed by unenhanced and enhanced CT, and evaluated by observing the shapes, margins, enhancement patterns and backgrounds of breast lesions. A histopathologic diagnosis or long-term follow-up served as reference standard. Results: Sixteen (70%) patients had malignant breast lesions and seven (30%) had benign lesions. In 10 patients, the breast lesions were exclusively detected on contrast-enhanced CT. Using unenhanced CT, breast lesions with fi broglandular backgrounds were prone to be obscured (p < 0.001). Incidental primary breast cancer showed an non-signifi cant trend of a higher percentage irregular margin (p = 0.056). All of the four incidental breast lesions with non-mass-like enhancement were proven to be malignant. Conclusion: Routine contrast-enhanced chest CT can reveal suffi cient details to allow for the detection of unsuspected breast lesions, in which some cases may be proven as malignant. An irregular margin of incidental enhancing breast lesion can be considered a suggestive sign of malignancy.
