Mechanical Properties and Microstructure of Polypropylene Fiber Reinforced Cement Mortar Soil

A series of unconfined compressive strength tests and flexural strength tests are carried out to evaluate the improved effect of polypropylene fiber on the defects of cement mortar soil. The following factors, including the fiber content, cement content, sand content and curing age, are studied to investigate the influences on the mechanical properties and microstructure of the samples. The results show that the unconfined compressive strength (UCS), residual strength and flexural strength of the fiber reinforced cement mortar soil (FRCMS) substantially increase with increasing fiber content. The peak strain and ratio of the flexural-compression strength (Rfcs) of the FRCMS first increase and then decrease with an increase in fiber content,and the optimal fiber content is 3.5%. The brittleness index of the FRCMS is found to be inversely proportional to fiber content. The results suggest that the addition of an appropriate amount of fibers can substantially improve the plasticity and lateral stress capacity of the FRCMS. The strength of the FRCMS improves with the increase in cement content, sand content and curing age within a certain range. The microstructure of the FRCMS are analyzedby scanning electron microscopy (SEM) tests.
Aberrant Expression of HOXA5 and HOXA9 in AML

Background: Aberrant expression of HOX gene expression has been observed in cancer. The purpose of this study was to investigate the alteration of HOXA5 and HOXA9 expression and their clinical significance in acute meloid leukemia (AML). Materials and Methods: The expression of HOXA5 and HOXA9 genes of bone marrow samples from 75 newly diagnosed AML patients and 22 healthy controls for comparison were examined by Real-time quantitative PCR (RQ-PCR) assay. Statistical analysis was conducted to evaluate HOXA5 and HOXA9 expression as possible biomarkers for AML. Results: The results showed that the complete remission rate (52.6%) of the patients who highly expressed HOXA5 and HOXA9 was significantly lower than that (88.9%) in patients who lowly express the genes (P=0.015). Spearmann correlation coefficients indicated that the expression levels for HOXA5 and HOXA9 genes were highly interrelated (r=0.657, P<0.001). Meanwhile, we detected significant correlations between HOXA9 expression and age in this limited set of patients (P=0.009). Conclusions: The results suggest a prognostic impact of increased expression of HOXA5 and HOXA9 in AML patients.

The normative solid-state reaction process was adopted to prepare Li3Mg4NbO8 ceramics with LiF addition. We investigatedthe impacts of LiF additive on the crystal structure, sinterabillity as well as dielectric performance at microwave region of theLi3Mg4NbO8-basic ceramics. XRD analysis confirmed that the addition of LiF to Li3Mg4NbO8 lead to the formation of newphase Li4Mg4NbO8F with cubic rock salt structure. The densified temperature of Li3Mg4NbO8-basic ceramics could beeffectively reduced from 1150 oC to 900 oC with LiF addition. Both the permitivity (εr) and quality factor (Qf) of presentceramics were is closely correlated with the bulk density and cell volume. The 900 oC-sintered Li3Mg4NbO8-basic ceramicsowned excellent chemical compatibility with silver and optimized microwave dielectric performance (εr ~13. 4, Qf ~ 32,400GHz at 9.4 GHz, and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency (τf) ~ -43.0 ppm/℃).

Multimedia teaching is a new kind of teaching mode, it makes multimedia computer as the core, and includes sound, images, text and animation. In multimedia teaching, teaching is always the main body, and multimedia is to cooperate with the teaching. In this paper, we make empirical analysis of performance evaluation of the multimedia teaching, the study subjects is martial arts courses in colleges. The result shows that after experiment, the students’ psychological quality and body movement quality have very significant increase, Body function and body form has improved. At the same time, college students give a better evaluation of the multimedia class, so multimedia teaching is worth promoting.

Prediction of a driver’s braking intention enables the advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) to intervene in the braking system as early as possible, which may shorten braking distance and improve driving safety. This paper proposes a novel deep learning model called LSTM-CNN-Attention that combines a long short-term memory (LSTM) neural network, convolutional neural network (CNN), and Attention mechanism for extracting spatiotemporal features of multi-sensor data to improve prediction accuracy. The proposed model inherits both temporal and spatial feature extraction abilities from LSTM and CNN. The LSTM-CNN-Attention model has a parallel architecture, which enhances the feature extraction ability of the model for multi-sensor time series data and improves the prediction accuracy of the driver’s braking intention before the braking action. Furthermore, a driving simulator is set up to sample driving data for training and evaluating the proposed method. According to the results of the experiment, the model obtains up to 3.16% higher accuracy than the baseline models such as LSTM, CNN, and bidirectional LTSM (Bi-LSTM). Additionally, the influence of sliding window size and prediction horizon on the performance of the method is investigated. A method of tuning hyperparameters using the genetic algorithm is presented. The results demonstrate that the prediction accuracy increases by about 2% after being optimized by GA.

Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L. cv. Lizixiang)is a nutritious arable crop with a low drought tolerance during growth and maturation. The Arabidopsis HOMEODOMAIN GLABROUS 11 (HDG11) gene can increase drought tolerance in tobacco and tall fescue plants. To determine the effect of HDG11 in the sweet potato, transgenic plants that expressed the HDG11 gene were generated by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation. Expression of the transgene was confirmed using Southern blotting, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and DNA sequencing. Two independent HDG11 transgenic lines were evaluated and increased drought stress tolerance was observed in both lines, compared to wild-type (WT) plants. Under drought stress conditions, net photosynthesis rate (Pn), the efficiency of excitation energy captured by open PSII reaction centers (Fv/Fm) and water use efficiency (WUE) increased, and transpiration rate (Tr) decreased in HDG11 transgenic plants compared to WT. HDG11 transgenic plants also had decreased lipid membrane oxidative damage, reduced H2O2 accumulation and increased ROSscavenging enzyme activity during drought stress treatment. This study indicates that overexpression of the Arabidopsis HDG11 gene improved drought tolerance in the sweet potato.
Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis: A Case Report

Primary amebic encephalitis (PAM) is a devastating central nervous system infection caused by Naegleria fowl- eri, a free-living amoeba, which can survive in soil and warm fresh water. Here, a 43-year-old healthy male was exposed to warm freshwater 5 days before the symptom onset. He rapidly developed severe cerebral edema before the diagnosis of PAM and was treated with intravenous conventional amphotericin B while died of terminal cerebral hernia finally. Com- paring the patients with PAM who has similar clinical symptoms to those with other common types of meningoencephali- tis, this infection is probably curable if treated early and aggressively. PAM should be considered in the differential diagno- sis of purulent meningoencephalitis, especially in patients with recent freshwater-related activities during the hot season.
Lycorine: A Potential Broad-Spectrum Agent Against Crop Pathogenic Fungi

A screening test showed that lycorine exhibited significant antifungal activity against 24 pathogenic crop fungi at concentrations of 500μg/ml and 100μg/ml, respectively. Fusarium graminearum was selected for antifungal mechanism studies by observing its mycelial morphology and investigating the variations in its conductivity. In addition, the substance absorption and metabolism of F. graminearum were explored. The mechanism was revealed as being one by which lycorine destroyed the cellular membrane and further influenced substance absorption and cell metabolism.

This paper proposes a numerical optimization method to design the mesoscale architecture of textile composite for simultaneously enhancing mechanical and thermal properties, which compete with each other making it difficult to design intuitively. The base cell of the periodic warp and fill yarn system is served as the design space, and optimal fibre yarn geometries are found by solving the optimization problem through the proposed method. With the help of homogenization method, analytical formulae for the effective material properties as functions of the geometry parameters of plain-woven textile composites were derived, and they are used to form the inverse homogenization method to establish the design problem. These modules are then put together to form a multiobjective optimization problem, which is formulated in such a way that the optimal design depends on the weight factors predetermined by the user based on the stiffness and thermal terms in the objective function. Numerical examples illustrate that the developed method can achieve reasonable designs in terms of fibre yarn paths and geometries.
