It could be criticized to found identity of social studies education theory on affiliation with subject-matters and learning method. Because, this perspective is within the category of politics and educational theory. In contrast with this perspective, the learning character of self-directiveness and nativeness enables social studies education theory as a alternative to found identity. Learning exist in the process of deepening and expanding know-what, know-how, and know-why in the narrative forms of life. And self-directed learning is rooted the character of nativeness in learning. All human beings are gifted learning faculty as potentiality. This learning faculty could recursively related with social faculty. In this context, it can be said that this perspective enables for learner to drive life meaningfully and for us to found identity of social studies education theory.

Development of Parameters for Diagnosing Laryngeal Diseases

Many people suffer from various laryngeal diseases. Since we can notice voice change easily, acoustic analysis can be helpful to diagnose the diseases. Several attempts have been made to clarify the relation between the parameters and the state of ssick vocal folds but any decisive parameters are not found yet. The purpose of this study was to select and develop those parameters useful for diagnosing and differentiating laryngeal diseases. We examined eight MDVP parameters, and two additional MFCC and LPC parameters obt ained from the production of an open vowel by 252 subjects with or without laryngeal diseases. Using a statistical procedure through the artificial neural networks, we attempted to differentiate laryngeal disease groups. Results showed that the LPC parameters indicated the highest differentiating rate by the networks followed by the MFCC and the MDVP parameters. In addition, Jita, Shim and NHR among the MDVP parameters came out better parameters in diagnosing laryngeal diseases.

Stereospecific Biotransformation of Dihydrodaidzein into (3S)-Equol by the Human Intestinal Bacterium Eggerthella Strain Julong 732

<B>ABSTRACT</B><P>Stereochemical course of isoflavanone dihydrodaidzein (DHD) reduction into the isoflavan (3<I>S</I>)-equol via tetrahydrodaidzein (THD) by the human intestinal anaerobic bacterium <I>Eggerthella</I> strain Julong 732 was studied. THD was synthesized by catalytic hydrogenation, and each stereoisomer was separated by chiral high-performance liquid chromatography. Circular dichroism spectroscopy was used to elucidate the absolute configurations of four synthetic THD stereoisomers. Rapid racemization of DHD catalyzed by Julong 732 prevented the substrate stereospecificity in the conversion of DHD into THD from being confirmed. The absolute configuration of THD, prepared by reduction of DHD in the cell-free incubation, was assigned as (3<I>R</I>,4<I>S</I>) via comparison of the retention time to that of the authentic THD by chiral chromatography. Dehydroequol (DE) was unable to produce the (3<I>S</I>)-equol both in the cell-free reaction and in the bacterial transformation, negating the possible intermediacy of DE. Finally, the intermediate (3<I>R</I>,4<I>S</I>)-THD was reduced into (3<I>S</I>)-equol by the whole cell, indicating the inversion of stereochemistry at C-3 during the reduction. A possible mechanism accounting for the racemization of DHD and the inversion of configuration of THD during reduction into (3<I>S</I>)-equol is proposed.</P>

Development of Laryngeal Stroboscopic Effect With Continuous Light Source

Background and Objectives Most laryngeal imaging modalities used continuous light source. However, videostroboscopy adopted the unique stroboscopic flashing light triggered externally and is consistent with fundamental voice frequencies. If laryngeal stroboscopic effect could be obtained in the field of continuous illumination, it woud be more compatible with conventional video. In this study, we established the mathematical algorithm for stroboscopic effect with continuous light and tried to determine the feasibility of laryngeal stroboscopic effect with conventional laryngoscopy using continuous light in the mechanical model. Materials and Method The mechanical model of fan motor system was used to validate to the present study. Rotational images of the fan motor were captured using conventional laryngoscope with continuous light source. Results On the basis of the mathematical model, the optimal ranges of the frequency for stroboscopic effect were expected as (multiples of sampling rate [S])±(S/5). In the fan motor model, the stroboscopic effects could be confirmed on the basis of the mathematical model using conventional videolaryngoscopy with continuous light source. Conclusion Laryngeal stroboscopic effect with continuous light source might be feasible. The stroboscopic effect with continuous light would be expected to provide greater compatibility to integrate with the other imaging modalities for the vocal folds.

The abstract concept is central to the political concept as the central domain in social studies. Traditionally, a concept has been considered a reflecting attribute but, the abstract concept is constructed by interpretation and emotion of the epistemological subject based on contingency. From this point of view, a political concept learning request is also an alternative learning perspective. An alternative perspective that “learning is meaning” is constructed on the basis of prior knowledge and prior experience of the learner by interpretation and emotion.

영화 인셉션의 교육적 해석

A Film ‘Inception’ has two educational meaning. The first meaning is ‘meta’, and the second meaning is a construction of metaphor. In the film, a designer designs a dream of dream that dreams a dream in dreaming. In other words, ‘meta-dream’. A meta has a particular meaning in learning. A metacognition enables the reconstruction of meaning through deconstruction of prior-knowledge learner itself. The construction of meaning is not a objective cognition of object but a metaphorical interpretation of image. A penrose stairs, in the film, implicate the deconstruction of division between virtual reality and reality. The cognition of social phenomena is the same here. A concept is not a representation of objective reality but a metaphor of constructive image.

정치 교육의 관점과 원리

A liberalism aims for the individual right and the right-oriented political order. This has to do with the prerequisite that human being can rational judgement and autonomous choice. In comparison, communitarianism aims for the good and communal self constructed by historical and cultural context. A common good regards as immanent goodness in social practice, and the social practice is rooted in communicative discourse originated from historical and cultural context. The social practice is incomplete and irrational. Nevertheless, it is rational for the reason that it is constructed by ancestors` critical consciousness. Therefore, community members experience rationality through practicing social practice, and by this rational experience they enable to criticise irrationality in social practice. In this context political education claims the principle that dialectic relation of practice and critics must be applied. Politics is characterized by normativeness and duplicity. So, the truth, the absolute, and the objectivity are denied, instead ``to differ`` and ``to defer`` are accommodated. In other words, political world is difference world. In this context political education must accommodate the perspective of difference.

N/A Salmonellosis is an infection caused by bacteria of the genus Salmonella, which consists of more than 2,000 serotypes. The clinical syndromes they prduce are gastroenteritis, enteric fever, bacteremia with and without focal extra-intestinal infection, and the asymptomatic carrier state. Reports concerning the simultaneous isolation of more than one Salmonella type from the same individual are not unusual. But dual infection including Salmonella typhi, which is considered to be a humanspecific pathogen, is rare. We report a case of dual Salmonella infection of Salmonella typhi and Salmonella paratyphi A in a 39 -year-old female, which was confirmed by blood, bone marrow and stool culture.
