A System Dynamics Model of Prevention through Design towards Eliminating Human Error

        Xinlu Sun,Heap-Yih Chong,Pin-Chao Liao,Dongping Fang,Yanqing Wang 대한토목학회 2019 KSCE JOURNAL OF CIVIL ENGINEERING Vol.23 No.5

Theoretically, prevention through design (PtD) is the most effective approach for eliminating human error in the field of construction. However, there is a lack of rigorous empirical analysis regarding the focal point of PtD. Hence, this research aims to develop a system dynamics model that depicts a mechanism for identifying the focal point of PtD and relevant design factors with respect to human error. Elevator installation serves as the scope of the model, and three sub-models of “cognition-behavior,” “environment-cognition,” and “design-environment” are developed. Their quantitative relationships are analyzed based on empirical data prior to the development of the system dynamics model. Subsequently, safety performance is simulated based on an eight-hour work day, and sensitivity analyses are conducted to determine the impact of each design factor on human error. This study provides insights into PtD using various design factors that can be generalized and used to develop safer designs under complex working environments.

Electrospun Li2MnO3-Modified Li1.2NixCo0.1Mn0.9-xO2 Nanofibers: Synthesis and Enhanced Electrochemical Performance for Lithium-Ion Batteries

        Jing Yao,Xinlu Wang,Xinru Zhao,Jinxian Wang,Hongbo Zhang,Wensheng Yu,Guixia Liu,Xiangting Dong 대한금속·재료학회 2016 ELECTRONIC MATERIALS LETTERS Vol.12 No.6

The Li2MnO3-modified Li1.2NixCo0.1Mn0.9-xO2 (x = 0.2, 0.45, 0.7)as cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries have beensuccessfully synthesized by a simple electrospinning process. Thestructure, morphology and electrochemical performances of theresulting products are studied systematically. The as-preparedLi2MnO3-modified Li1.2NixCo0.1Mn0.9-xO2 (x = 0.2, 0.45, 0.7) with adiameter of 200-300 nm has an initial discharge capacity of168.740 mAh·g−1, coulombic efficiency of 99.6% and a reversiblecapacity as high as 139.016 mAh·g−1 after 200 cycles at a currentrate of 0.2 C. The excellent electrochemical performances ofwhich are attributed to the stabilization of Li2MnO3 structure, therole of Li2MnO3 is contribute extra lithium to the reversiblecapacity and to facilitate Li+ transport through the structure.

Peer Innovation Tone and Corporate Innovation Adjustments: Evidence from China

        Liu Zhiqiang,Rao Pingui,Wang Xinlu,Yue Raymon 한국증권학회 2022 Asia-Pacific Journal of Financial Studies Vol.51 No.6

Using textual information regarding innovation in the annual reports of Chinese listed firms for the period from 2007 to 2019, we examine how firms alter their innovation activities in response to the tone of peer firms’ discussions of innovation in their annual reports (“innovation tone”). We find that a positive innovation tone in peer firms’ annual reports results in a significant reduction in R&D investments by the focal firm, especially when such a tone pertains to the future. Our cross-sectional analyses show that peers’ innovation tone strongly affects R&D investments when the focal firm operates in a non-high-tech or highly competitive industry, or is readily willing to adjust its innovation strategy. Further investigation shows that the marginal benefits of a focal firm’s R&D investments decline when annual peer reports adopt relatively positive innovation tones. Our results enrich the literature on the peer effects of textual information on innovation and have implications for firms’ innovation strategies.

Chicken serum uric acid level is regulated by glucose transporter 9

        Ding Xuedong,Peng Chenglu,Li Siting,Li Manman,Li Xinlu,Wang Zhi,Li Yu,Wang Xichun,Li Jinchun,wu Jinjie 아세아·태평양축산학회 2021 Animal Bioscience Vol.34 No.4

Objective: Glucose transporter 9 (GLUT9) is a uric acid transporter that is associated with uric absorption in mice and humans; but it is unknown whether GLUT9 involves in chicken uric acid regulation. This experiment aimed to investigate the chicken GLUT9 expression and serum uric acid (SUA) level. Methods: Sixty chickens were divided into 4 groups (n = 15): a control group (NC); a sulfonamide-treated group (SD) supplemented with sulfamonomethoxine sodium via drinking water (8 mg/L); a fishmeal group (FM) supplemented with 16% fishmeal in diet; and a uric acid-injection group (IU), where uric acid (250 mg/kg) was intraperitoneally injected once a day. The serum was collected weekly to detect the SUA level. Liver, kidney, jejunum, and ileum tissues were collected to detect the GLUT9 mRNA and protein expression. Results: The results showed in the SD and IU groups, the SUA level increased and GLUT9 expression increased in the liver, but decreased in the kidney, jejunum, and ileum. In the FM group, the SUA level decreased slightly and GLUT9 expression increased in the kidney, but decreased in the liver, jejunum, and ileum. Correlation analysis revealed that liver GLUT9 expression correlated positively, and renal GLUT9 expression correlated negatively with the SUA level. Conclusion: These results demonstrate that there may be a feedback regulation of GLUT9 in the chicken liver and kidney to maintain the SUA balance; however, the underlying mechanism needs to be investigated in future studies.
