        Modeling and Analyzing for Magnetic Field of Segmented Surface-Mounted PM Motors with Skewed Poles

        The skewed PM (permanent magnet) in the axial direction and the segmented PM in the circumferential direction, can reduce the cogging torque of the permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). In this paper, the magnetization expression, which can be applied to diff erent circumferential sectioning modes, is derived. The quasi-3D magnetic fi eld analytical model suitable for diff erent circumferential and axial segmentation modes is proposed. The magnetic fi eld, cogging torque, back-EMF, and electromagnetic torque are obtained by the proposed modeling. The accuracy of the analytical method is verifi ed by 3D fi nite-element analysis. Finally, the modeling is used to analyze the variation of electromagnetic performance with diff erent radial skew angle and axial segments. The proposed modeling can shorten the calculation time, and analyze the variation law of motor performance with PM segmentation and skew comprehensively. It provides a reference for the design and optimization of segmented PMSM with skewed poles and has great signifi cance for improving motor performance.

      • Type-3 PLL Based Speed Estimation Scheme for Sensorless Linear Induction Motor Drives

        The type-3 phase-locked loop (PLL) is a promising technique for synchronization in grid-connected application, which can offer the zero frequency/phase error when inputting ramp-change-frequency signal. Inspired from the idea of this technique, this paper proposes a new speed estimation scheme based on type-3 PLL for linear induction motor (LIM) speed-sensorless drive system. The basic contents about the type-3 PLL-based scheme are firstly presented. Since the harmonic components and amplitude mismatch lead to the performance degradation of the type-3 PLL-based scheme, some adjustments have been made to achieve the performance improvement of speed estimation. With the assistance of the small-signal model, the dynamic response of the type-3 PLL-based scheme is analyzed minutely. In addition, the comparison results with the conventional PLL-based scheme are included. The performance of the proposed scheme is verified through the experimental tests.

        Study on the pore/scratch-strength response of ZrB2–SiC ceramic via laser processing

        Defects, such as pores and scratches, are inevitably introduced during preparation and processing of ceramics. How they aff ect the mechanical properties of materials is worthy of attention. Here, artifi cial surface pores and notches introduced by femtosecond/nanosecond lasers are regarded as inherent pore- and scratch-like defects. Bending test results indicated that a small-sized fl aw with the length and depth of ~ 10 μm could lead to a strength reduction up to ~ 40% in sharp fl aw case, while only slight attenuation (< 10%) occurs in blunt fl aw case. Linear extrapolation result reveals that the maximum strength in notch cases, when the depth reaches the atomic scale, is ~ 34 GPa, which is in the range of the theoretical value of 24–48 GPa. Furthermore, the calculated critical fl aw size ( ac) may tend to be overestimated, given that the artifi cial defect, which is smaller than the ac value, also results in signifi cant strength decay. This study could provide guidance for strength evalu- ation and high-strength design of ceramics.

        6-Shogaol reduces progression of experimental endometriosis in vivo and in vitro via regulation of VGEF and inhibition of COX-2 and PGE2-mediated inflammatory responses

        Endometriosis (EM) is one of the most common gynaecological disorder affecting women in their reproductive age. Mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of EM remains poorly understood, however inflammatory responses have been reported to be significantly involved. The efficacy of 6-shogaol on proliferation of endometriotic lesions and inflammatory pathways in experimentally-induced EM model was explored in this study. EM was stimulated in Sprague-Dawley rats by implantation of autologous endometrium onto the peritoneum abdominal wall. Separate groups were treated with 6-shogaol (50, 100 or 150 mg/kg b.wt/day) via oral gavage for one month period. Gestrinone (GTN) group received GTN (0.5 mg/kg/day) as positive control. Five weeks after implantation, the spherical volume of ecto-uterine tissues was determined. Treatment with 6-shogaol significantly reduced the implant size. Histological analysis reported atrophy and regression of the lesions. 6-shogaol administration effectively down-regulated $NF-{\kappa}B$ signaling, VEGF and VEGFR-2 (Flk-1) expression in the endometriotic lesions. Excess production of $IL-1{\beta}$ and IL-6 (pro-inflammatory cytokines), PGE2 and nitric oxide (NO) were reduced. Overall, the results of the study reveal the efficacy of 6-shogaol against endometriosis via effectively suppressing proliferation of the lesions and modulating angiogenesis and $COX-2/NF-{\kappa}B$-mediated inflammatory cascades.

        Internal Structure and Pigment Granules in Colored Alpaca Fibers

        Alpaca fibers have some distinct properties such as softness and warmth, which have not been fully understood in combination with the fiber internal structures. In the present investigation, the internal structures of alpaca fibers have been closely examined under the scanning electron microscope (SEM), especially in the longitudinal direction. The results showed that numerous pigment granules reside loosely inside pockets in brown and dark-brown alpaca fibers. These pigment granules were mainly distributed inside the cortical cells, the medullation regions as well as underneath the cuticles. Their size in the brown alpaca fibers was smaller and more uniformly round than in the dark-brown fibers. These granules in colored alpaca fibers loosen the bundle of cortical cells, providing many crannies in the fibers which may contribute to the superior flexibility, warmth and softness of the fibers. Moreover, there are no heavy metal elements found in the granules. The mordant hydrogen peroxide bleaching employed could eliminate the pigment granules and create many nano-volumes for further dyeing of fibers into more attractive colors.

        The Improvement Plan for Sustainable Development on the Regeneration Region in Urban Areas Through the Public Art - Based on the Revitalize Case of the Gamcheon Culture Village in Busan -

        This study is an improvement plan for sustainable Development of that regeneration village in the center of city revitalize regional through the public art. This study uses the theory of environmental aesthetics and got evaluation result by Dephil expert investigation method and the analytic hierarchy process. And exploration through the case of Gamcheon Cultural Village by the questionnaire survey to tourists and denizens then put forward the improvement program. The results of the improvement plan on Gamcheon Cultural Village as follows. Firs to increase the artistic work of sculptures and the murals. Second, improve the mural art work by the professional artist. Third, change the landscape line of the Cultural Village by ensuring that the plants are plentiful .Fourth, improve the cleanliness of the Cultural Village by implementing vehicle management and as well as improving the environmental facilities.

        Robust H∞ Filter Design for Affine Fuzzy Systems

        This paper investigates the problem of robust H∞ filtering for nonlinear systems, which are described by affine fuzzy parts with norm-bounded uncertainties. The system outputs have been chosen as premise variables, which can guarantee the plant and the filter always switch to the same region. By using a piecewise Lyapunov function and adding slack matrix variables, a fuzzy-basis-dependent H∞ filter design method is obtained in the formulation of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), which can be efficiently solved numerically. Compared with the existing results, the proposed method needs less LMI constraints and leads to less conservatism. Finally, numerical examples illustrate the effectiveness of the new results.

        당대예술의 개입을 통한 농촌마을의 활성화 - 에치고츠마리 사례를 중심으로 -

        이 연구는 에치고츠마리 마을을 대상으로 농촌마을에 당대예술을 도입함으로서 활성화 되어지는 과정과 그 결과를 다룬 것이다. 대상지의 고찰과 당대예술의 도입 계기, 마을의 경관요소, 예술제의 계획, 자원의 활용, 예술 도입 후 성과에 대한 데이터를 분석하여 예술이 농촌마을의 발전에 미친 영향과 지속적인 발전 가능성을 규명하였다. 연구를 통해 당대예술을 이용한 농촌경관의 변화가 농촌마을 활성화에 도움이 되는 것으로 나타났으며 자연 및 예술의 조화에도 영 향을 주는 것으로 파악되었다. 논문은 연구의 목적과 배경, 연구의 대상과 방법, 일본 마을의 경관요소 및 에치고츠마리의 분석, 예술제의 계획 및 자원 이용의 상황에 대한 고찰 그리고 연구 결과로 구성되었다. 연구결과 당대예술의 도입이 에치고츠마리 마을에 미친 좋은 영향은 첫째, 경제적인 수익을 높였으며 둘째, 인구 구조가 변화되면서 전통적인 단일 농경구조가 바뀌었고 셋째, 농민들의 생활방식이 변화되어 새로운 문화가치를 형성했으며 예술제가 에치고츠마리의 새로운 문화의 상징이 되었다. 넷째, 마을의 거주환경, 교통, 공공시설 등 생활환경 등이 개선되었으며 다섯째, 마을의 경관요소 및 공간속성에 변화를 가져왔다. 또한 예술 도입을 통해 에치고츠마리 마을이 다시 활성화 된 사례는 최근 사회적으로 문제되는 농촌마을의 발전에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다. This study investigates how the rural villages of Echigo - Tsumari in Japan were resurrected by the contemporary art intervention. This study analyzes the following: (1) the scope of contemporary art intervention, (2) types of landscape of rural villages, (3) plan of the Echigo - Tsumari Art Triennale, (4) ways to use natural resources in an art festival, and (5) data recording the impact of the contemporary art intervention. This study also reveals the possibility of continuous development of rural villages by analyzing the data. This study suggests how to use contemporary art to change the landscape of rural villages for their resurrection and how to integrate art into the environment. The results of this study were derived from its background, purpose, object, and method, as well as the analysis of the landscape of rural villages in Japan, the art festivals, and the exploitation of natural resources. The contemporary art intervention had a few benefits for the region of Echigo - Tsumari. First, this event improved the economic conditions of the region. Second, it controlled population aging and simultaneously improved the single economic structure of the traditional agriculture. Third, it is introduced the farmers to a new culture and improved their lifestyle; this art festival provided a new identity to the people of Echigo - Tsumari. Fourth, this event improved the residential environment, traffic movement, community facilities, et cetera. Fifth, this event provides insights into the spatial and structural transformation of the landscape. In recent times, the development of rural villages has been challenging and difficult, but the rehabilitation of Echigo - Tsumari provides valuable insights into further research.

        Ginsenoside Rb1 exerts neuroprotective effects through regulation of Lactobacillus helveticus abundance and GABAA receptor expression

        Background: Ginsenoside Rb1 (Rb1), one of the most abundant protopanaxadiol-type ginsenosides, exertsexcellent neuroprotective effects even though it has low intracephalic exposure. Purpose: The present study aimed to elucidate the apparent contradiction between the pharmacokineticsand pharmacodynamics of Rb1 by studying the mechanisms underlying neuroprotective effects ofRb1 based on regulation of microflora. Methods: A pseudo germ-free (PGF) rat model was established, and neuroprotective effects of Rb1 werecompared between conventional and PGF rats. The relative abundances of common probiotics werequantified to reveal the authentic probiotics that dominate in the neuroprotection of Rb1. The expressionsof the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors, including GABAA receptors (a2, b2, and g2) andGABAB receptors (1b and 2), in the normal, ischemia/reperfusion (I/R), and I/RþRb1 rat hippocampus andstriatum were assessed to reveal the neuroprotective mechanism of Rb1. Results: The results showed that microbiota plays a key role in neuroprotection of Rb1. The relativeabundance of Lactobacillus helveticus (Lac.H) increased 15.26 fold after pretreatment with Rb1. I/R surgeryinduced effects on infarct size, neurological deficit score, and proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1b, IL-6, andTNF-a) were prevented by colonizing the rat gastrointestinal tract with Lac.H (1 109 CFU) by gavage 15d before I/R surgery. Both Rb1 and Lac.H upregulated expression of GABA receptors in I/R rats. Coadministrationof a GABAA receptor antagonist significantly attenuated neuroprotective effects of Rb1 and Lac.H. Conclusion: In sum, Rb1 exerts neuroprotective effects by regulating Lac.H and GABA receptors ratherthan through direct distribution to the target sites.
