Ordered Phases in Fe-Si Alloys: A First-Principles Study
최영원,구양모,권세균,Levente Vitos 한국물리학회 2018 THE JOURNAL OF THE KOREAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY Vol.72 No.6
It is known that the formation of ordered phases causes the brittleness of electrical steels. We employed first-principles method in order to examine the possibility of the ordered-phases formation in Fe-Si alloys. It is found that the D03-like ordered configuration is most stable among other atomic configurations in the ferromagnetic state. In the paramagnetic state, for low Si concentration, the stability of the ordered configurations is comparable to that of disordered ones. However, as Si content increases, the B2 ordered phase as well as the D03 phase becomes more stable than the disordered ones.
Theory for plasticity of face-centered cubic metals
Jo, Minho,Koo, Yang Mo,Lee, Byeong-Joo,Johansson, Bö,rje,Vitos, Levente,Kwon, Se Kyun National Academy of Sciences 2014 PROCEEDINGS OF THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF SCIENCES OF Vol.111 No.18

The activation of plastic deformation mechanisms determines the mechanical behavior of crystalline materials. However, the complexity of plastic deformation and the lack of a unified theory of plasticity have seriously limited the exploration of the full capacity of metals. Current efforts to design high-strength structural materials in terms of stacking fault energy have not significantly reduced the laborious trial and error works on basic deformation properties. To remedy this situation, here we put forward a comprehensive and transparent theory for plastic deformation of face-centered cubic metals. This is based on a microscopic analysis that, without ambiguity, reveals the various deformation phenomena and elucidates the physical fundaments of the currently used phenomenological correlations. We identify an easily accessible single parameter derived from the intrinsic energy barriers, which fully specifies the potential diversity of metals. Based entirely on this parameter, a simple deformation mode diagram is shown to delineate a series of convenient design criteria, which clarifies a wide area of material functionality by texture control.

War Games: North Korea's Reaction to US and South Korea Military Exercises
Vito D'Orazio 동아시아연구원 2012 Journal of East Asian Studies Vol.12 No.2
Since 1976, the militaries of the United States and South Korea have been holding routine joint military exercises (JMEs) for the purposes of military training and deterrence against North Korea. These exercises are frequently cited as a cause of tension on the peninsula, causing North Korea to escalate its conflictual rhetoric and behavior. I empirically assess this claim using new data on US-ROK JMEs and machine-coded event data collected by the Integrated Crisis Early Warning System. The findings show that North Korea does not systematically escalate its conflictual rhetoric or behavior during or near the occurrence of JMEs. The result s hold for both low-and high-intensity exercises and for rhetoric that has the United States and South Korea as its target.
Chinese and Indian Multinationals: A Firm-Level Analysis of their Investments in Europe
Vito Amendolagine,Claudio Cozza,Roberta Rabellotti 연세대학교 동서문제연구원 2015 Global economic review Vol.44 No.4
This paper contributes to the literature on Chinese and Indian multinationals investing in Europe through an empirical investigation about their identity, their characteristics and the association between their features and their international strategies. The investigation exploits a database, named EMENDATA (Emerging Multinationals’ Events and Networks DATAbase), at the level of the investing firms. In relation to the mode of entry, we find that greenfield investments are a more likely option for large-sized companies. Moreover a high propensity for innovation is associated with a high probability to enter with an acquisition and with technological asset-seeking investments. Finally, high profitability is needed to invest in the EU-core countries.
The fate of overfilling in root canal treatments with long-term follow-up: a case series
Malagnino Vito Antonio,Pappalardo Alfio,Plotino Gianluca,Carlesi Teocrito 대한치과보존학회 2021 Restorative Dentistry & Endodontics Vol.46 No.2
This study describes 6 cases of endodontic overfilling with successful clinical outcomes during long-term (up to 35 years) radiographic follow-up. Successful endodontic treatment depends on proper shaping, disinfection, and obturation of root canals. Filling materials should completely fill the root canal space without exceeding the anatomical apex. Overfilling may occur when the filling material extrudes into the periapical tissues beyond the apex. The present case series describes 6 root canal treatments in which overfilling of root canal sealer and gutta-percha accidentally occurred. Patients’ teeth were periodically checked with periapical radiographs in order to evaluate the outcomes during long-term follow-up. All cases showed healing and progressive resorption of the extruded materials in the periapex. The present cases showed that if a 3-dimensional seal was present at the apical level, overfilling did not negatively affect the long-term outcomes of root canal treatment.
