H.264 Mapping Strategies for Robust Video Streaming over IEEE 802.11e WLAN
Umar Iqbal Choudhry,JongWon Kim 한국정보과학회 2005 한국정보과학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.32 No.2
In this paper we propose several mapping schemes for streaming video generated by state?of?the?art H.264 codec over IEEE 802.11e enabled wireless LANs. The schemes take advantage of both 802.11e’s QoS mechanism and some novel features of the H.264 codec, so as to protect the most important information in terms of visual quality and reduce distortion under network congestion. The proposed methods are evaluated by means of the H.264 reference software codec, network simulation, and objective video quality measurements. Results show that the proposed methods achieve a robust and error resilient H.264 video streaming over wireless LANs than traditional best?effort streaming.
A Centralized e-pedigree system for Agriculture Food Distribution Network
Umar Farooq,Ganjar Alfian,M. Alex Syaekhoni,HyeJung Ahn,Jongtae Rhee 대한산업공학회 2014 대한산업공학회 춘계학술대회논문집 Vol.2014 No.5
Food quality and safety has attained the considerable attention, because of the consumers increasing health awareness, improved economic standards and lifestyle of modern societies. Thus, it is important for distributors, retailers and consumers to purchase agriculture food products and track that they have come through the legal and safe distribution channels. In this paper we proposed a Centralized EPCIS and Sensor Data Repositories based e-pedigree system for agriculture food products to guarantee the quality, safety and reliability of agriculture food products for final consumers. This system not only assure the authenticity of the agriculture food products but also assure the food quality through environmental information such as temperature and humidity during storage, distribution and transportation for food quality.
Seedless Synthesis of Monodisperse Cuboctahedral Gold Nanoparticles with Tunable Sizes
Umar, Aminah,Lee, Jeeun,Dey, Jahar,Choi, Sung-Min American Chemical Society 2016 Chemistry of materials Vol.28 No.14

Polyhedral gold nanoparticles are of great current interest because of their unique optical and chemical properties which are attributable to their well-defined facets, corners, and size. While various polyhedral gold nanoparticles of different sizes mostly synthesized by the seed-mediated method have been reported, synthesis of gold cuboctahedra with tunable sizes still remains challenging. Here, we report for the first time a seedless method of synthesizing monodisperse gold cuboctahedra with finely tunable sizes ranging from 40 to 80 nm using cetyltrimethylammonium 4-vinylbenzoate (CTAVB) as a selective capping and mild reducing agent in the presence of a high concentration of HCl in aqueous solution. The HCl provides strong oxidative etching power to remove structural defects, resulting in single-crystal seeds, and significantly reduces the particle growth rate. This slow particle growth provides an easy and reliable way of tuning the particle size by stopping the reaction at different times and allowing sufficient time for the surface self-diffusion of Au atoms. Combined with the selective capping of {100} facets with CTA(+), the surface self diffusion of Au atoms from {111} to {100} facets is considered to be the key mechanism for the formation of Au cuboctahedra and their stable growth without morphological deformation.

Morphology controlled facile synthesis of MnO2 adsorbents for rapid strontium removal
Umar Asim,Syed M. Husnain,Naseem Abbas,Faisal Shahzad,Abdul Rehman Khan,Tahir Ali 한국공업화학회 2021 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.98 No.-
MnO2 nanostructures with three distinct architectures, namelyflower, balk and tube-like, have beensynthesized through a single step microwave assisted hydrothermal method at different reactiontemperatures (110 C, 140 C and 180 C). The characterization of as prepared MnO2 samples wereperformed by means of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, scanning electronmicroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. The N2 adsorption–desorption isotherms revealedthe higher specific surface area and porosity of theflower like MnO2 as compared to balk and tube-likeMnO2. The adsorption behavior of as prepared adsorbents was investigated towards Sr2+ radionuclide. Because of the hierarchal structure and the high surface area (62.64 m2/g), MnO2-110 depicted the bestSr2+ adsorption performance with maximum adsorption capacity of 52 mg/g at pH 6 as compared to otherMnO2 morphologies synthesized at 140 C and 180 C. The kinetic studies revealed that the adsorption ofSr2+ onto MnO2-110 followed the pseudo-first-order model whereas the adsorption equilibrium dataobeyed the Freundlich and Sips model. Moreover, the MnO2-110 adsorbent reached the steady statequickly ( 10 min) and is capable to bind Sr2+ in slightly acidic to alkaline solutions.
The Clinical Implications of Poly Implant Prothèse Breast Implants: An Overview
Umar Wazir,Abdul Kasem,Kefah Mokbel 대한성형외과학회 2015 Archives of Plastic Surgery Vol.42 No.1
Mammary implants marketed by Poly Implant Prothèse (PIP) were found to contain industrialgrade silicone and this caused heightened anxiety and extensive publicity regarding theirsafety in humans. These implants were used in a large number of patients worldwide foraugmentation or breast reconstruction. We reviewed articles identified by searches of Medline,PubMed, Embase, and Google Scholar databases up to May 2014 using the terms: “PIP”, “PolyImplant Prothèse”, “breast implants” and “augmentation mammoplasty” “siloxanes” or“silicone”. In addition the websites of regulating bodies in Europe, USA, and Australia weresearched for reports related to PIP mammary implants. PIP mammary implants are more likelyto rupture than other implants and can cause adverse effects in the short to the medium termrelated to the symptoms of rupture such as pain, lumps in the breast and axilla and anxiety. Based on peer-reviewed published studies we have calculated an overall rupture rate of 14.5%(383/2,635) for PIP implants. However, there is no evidence that PIP implant rupture causeslong-term adverse health effects in humans so far. Silicone lymphadenopathy represents aforeign body reaction and should be treated conservatively. The long-term adverse effectsusually arise from inappropriate extensive surgery, such as axillary lymph node dissection orextensive resection of breast tissue due to silicone leakage.
Hepatitis C Stage Classification with hybridization of GA and Chi2 Feature Selection
Umar, Rukayya,Adeshina, Steve,Boukar, Moussa Mahamat International Journal of Computer ScienceNetwork S 2022 International journal of computer science and netw Vol.22 No.1
In metaheuristic algorithms such as Genetic Algorithm (GA), initial population has a significant impact as it affects the time such algorithm takes to obtain an optimal solution to the given problem. In addition, it may influence the quality of the solution obtained. In the machine learning field, feature selection is an important process to attaining a good performance model; Genetic algorithm has been utilized for this purpose by scientists. However, the characteristics of Genetic algorithm, namely random initial population generation from a vector of feature elements, may influence solution and execution time. In this paper, the use of a statistical algorithm has been introduced (Chi2) for feature relevant checks where p-values of conditional independence were considered. Features with low p-values were discarded and subject relevant subset of features to Genetic Algorithm. This is to gain a level of certainty of the fitness of features randomly selected. An ensembled-based learning model for Hepatitis has been developed for Hepatitis C stage classification. 1385 samples were used using Egyptian-dataset obtained from UCI repository. The comparative evaluation confirms decreased in execution time and an increase in model performance accuracy from 56% to 63%.
