Green and low-cost preparation of CIGSe thin film by a nanocrystals ink based spin-coating method
2019 Korean Journal of Chemical Engineering Vol.36 No.12
An “ink” solution based process, using spin-coating technique, followed by annealing in selenium environment with different temperature programs was utilized to prepare CIGSe thin films. Herein, the CuIn0.7Ga0.3Se2 nanocrystals were synthesized using ethanol - a “green” solvent. Three different solvents: 2-propanol, 2-methoxyethanol, and their 2:1 mixture (v/v ratio), were investigated as a dispersion medium for the as-synthesized CIGSe nanocrystals to form a stable ink solution. The last one- a mixture of 2-propanol:2-methoxyethanol=2:1 (v/v), was found to be the most suitable. Furthermore, the influences of various annealing modes on the CIGSe grain size and density in the resulting film were also studied. The as-prepared CIGSe thin film was around 1µm thick and possessed a tetragonal structure. A newly developed cheaper and “greener” non-vacuum process was applied successfully from the synthesis of nanocrystals to the formation of ink solution, and produced high quality thin films; this opens a new route to the cost-competitive commercialization of CIGSe thin film solar cells.

In this study, the Pb2+ adsorption capacity of electrospun polyvinylidene fluoride/graphene oxide (PVDF/GO) membranes with different morphological characteristics and compositions were comprehensively compared. Firstly, the chemical characteristics, morphological characteristics and hydrophobicity relating to the adsorption capacity of electrospun PVDF/GO membranes were investigated through Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and water contact angle measurement. Adsorption analysis showed that the adsorption performance of electrospun PVDF/ GO increased as GO contents increased. Variations in the average diameter of electrospun PVDF/GO fibres in the range of several micrometres did not cause a distinguishable change in their adsorption capacity. Electrospun PVDF/GO membranes without a porous structure inhibited a low adsorption capacity although they contained a high composition of GO. The modification of electrospun PVDF/GO membranes by adding PEG increased the distribution of GO on the surface of fibres, resulting in a more hydrophilic fibre surface and a notable increase in Pb2+ adsorption. The adsorption behaviour of Pb2+ onto electrospun PVDF/GO/PEG membranes was found to be dependent on contact time and pH. Reusability analysis indicated that the electrospun PVDF/GO/PEG membrane maintained a Pb2+ removal rate of over 80% after six adsorption-desorption cycles. Therefore, electrospun PVDF/GO/PEG membranes might be a promising adsorption material used in filtration systems for heavy metal removal.

Nguyen Thi Huyen,Nguyen Ngoc Trang,Nguyen Khoi Viet,Le Thi Thuy Lien,Hoang Thi Van Hoa,Phung Bao Ngoc,Vu Dang Luu 아시아심장혈관영상의학회 2022 Cardiovascular Imaging Asia Vol.6 No.2
A single coronary artery (SCA) is a rare congenital anomaly. In most cases, it is an incidental finding on coronary angiography and has no clinical significance. However, it can cause angina, myocardial infarction, or even sudden death. Reports of SCA with acute myocardial infarction are very rare in the medical literature. This case study presents a patient with SCA from the right aortic sinus with severe stenosis in the proximal and distal part of the right coronary artery, which was detected using cardiac angiography and cardiac multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) with acute myocardial infarction.

Objective: To compare left ventricular (LV) function, ejection fraction (EF), end-diastolic volume (EDV), end-systolic volume (ESV), and regional wall motion analyzed in 256-slice dualsource coronary CT angiography (DSCT) with 2D transthoracic echocardiography (TTE). Materials and Methods: One hundred twelve patients suspected of coronary artery disease underwent DSCT and 2D-TTE within one week for LVEF, EDV, and ESV. The correlation between DSCT and 2D-TTE measurements was analyzed through linear regression and Bland- Altman analysis. Regional wall motion was visually scored with a 3-point scale (1, normal; 2, hypokinesia; 3, dysphagia, akinesia). Results: Average LVEF at 66.45%±1.27% (range 23%–85%) as determined on DSCT compared with 66.09%±1.01% (range 25%–84%) on 2D-TTE. LVEF exhibited a good correlation between DSCT and 2D-TTE (r=0.715; p<0.001). Good correlations between DSCT and 2D-TTE were demonstrated for LVEDV (r=0.732; p<0.001) and LVESV (r=0.841; p<0.001). Mean differences (±SD) of 1.78±24.10 mL (p<0.05) and 0.77±13.70 mL (p<0.05) were observed between DSCT and 2D-TTE for LVEDV and LVESV, respectively. LVEF was slightly overestimated with DSCT (0.52%±9.59%; p<0.05). Although the LVEF values calculated by DSCT and 2D-TTE were similar, EDV and ESV from DSCT were statistically higher than those from 2D-TTE (p<0.05). Agreement between DSCT and 2D-TTE in regional wall motion was 96.4%, κ=0.840. Conclusion: DSCT can provide comparable results to those using 2D-TTE for LV function (EF, EDV, and ESV) and regional wall motion assessment in a heterogeneous population.
Factors Affecting Financial Leverage: The Case of Vietnam Firms
Chi Dieu Thi NGUYEN,Hong Thuy Thi DANG,Nghi Huu PHAN,Trang Thuy Thi NGUYEN 한국유통과학회 2020 The Journal of Asian Finance, Economics and Busine Vol.7 No.11
The purpose of the study is to find the factors that influence the financial leverage of Vietnam firms. The dependent variable is the financial leverage and the independent variables are firm size, asset structure, liquidity, growth opportunities, profitability, and firm age. The data are collected from Vietnam firms’ annual financial reports in the period from 2010 to 2019. The study uses a sample of 448 Vietnam listed firms in the period. We also employ a panel regression model with pooled OLS and fixed effect to analyze the firms’ financial data. The results of the model showed that financial leverage (FL) has a negative relationship with some factors such as asset structure (AS), liquidity (LQ), growth opportunities (GRW), profitability (ROA), and firm age (AGE) in the fixed effect regression. It means that when liquidity, profitability, and firm age increase, firms’ financial leverage will decrease. While firms’ financial leverage has still a positive relationship with the firm size (SIZE) in the model. As a result, when firm size increases, financial leverage will increase, too. The results showed that models are fit for the research and can be used to predict future findings. It is also useful for enterprises, financial advisors, investors, as well as the financial managers.

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES Although children of ethnic minority groups are experiencing a transition from a predominance of undernutrition to overnutrition, there is little evidence of a dual-malnutrition burden. Therefore, this study examined the double burden of malnutrition among school-aged ethnic minority children living in mountainous areas and its association with their diets. SUBJECTS/METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted from September 2019 to March 2020 in 3 mountainous areas of Northern Vietnam among 1,556 ethnic minority school-aged children. The prevalence of under-nutrition (stunting and thinness) and over-nutrition (overweight and obesity) were measured using the WHO 2006 child growth standards (height-for-age and BMI-for-age Z-score). Nutritional practices were evaluated by the frequency of food consumption based on a 4-level scale. RESULTS The percentage of children with stunting and thinness were 14.0% and 5.4%, respectively, while the figure for overweight/obesity was 9.4%. The factors positively associated with stunting were living in a family with more than 2 children or being Muong/other ethnicities compared to the Tay ethnicity. Children who consumed fish/shrimps/crabs or milk weekly/daily were less likely to be undernourished compared to those who never consumed these foods. By contrast, children who never consumed foods rich in vitamin A precursors and vitamin A and fruit or consumed daily snacks/junk food were more likely to be overweight/obese. CONCLUSIONS Undernutrition remains a common issue among school-aged children and adolescents of ethnic minority groups, while over-nutrition exists simultaneously. Public health nutrition programs promoting adequate diets and positive lifestyle changes related to nutrition are essential to tackle the double burden of malnutrition among ethnic minority children.
Determining the optimal range of vitamin C for early red drum (Sciaenops ocellatus) juveniles
Nguyen Thi Thuy,Khuong V. Dinh,Ngo Van Manh,Trung Si Trang 한국수산과학회 2023 Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Vol.26 No.9
Vitamin C plays an important role for fish survival, growth and disease resistance. However, the optimal vitamin C for rearing red drum Sciaenops ocellatus juveniles in Vietnam is not known. To address this issue, a 70‐day feeding trial was conducted to evaluate the optimal dietary vitamin C requirements for red drum juveniles. Seven isonitrogenous (55.35% protein) and isolipidic (9.07% lipid) diets were formulated to include graded vitamin C concentrations of 23.2, 124.5, 235.2, 423.8, 626.7, 824.6, and 1,027.3 mg/kg, respectively. The results showed that fish fed on 423.8 mg/kg vitamin C diet had the highest growth rate, which can be linked to the increased feed utilization. Broken-line analysis indicated that the optimal dietary vitamin C requirements of red drum juveniles were 342.92 and 405.80 mg/kg for growth parameters, feed utilization, body composition and biochemical parameters of serum. Based on these parameters the optimal vitamin C supplementation level for red drum juveniles was estimated in the range of 342.92–405.80 mg/kg vitamin C in the diets with direct applications in producing artificial feed for rearing juveniles of this species in Vietnam.
Impacts of Foreign Direct Investment on Human Capital in ASEAN
Hoi Van NGUYEN,Thuy Thi Thu NGUYEN,Tha Hien TO,Duong Quy DANG,Trang Thi Dai Luong 한국유통과학회 2020 유통과학연구 Vol.18 No.9
Purpose: Research and development of human capital in countries bring sustainable development to the nations. Especially for developing countries, the attraction of foreign direct investment not only brings economic growth to the country but also contributes to improving human capital. This study aims to assess the impact of foreign direct investment on human capital in ASEAN countries. Research design, data and methodology: With data collected from ASEAN countries from 1990 to 2019, panel data analysis is performed with revised model types (the Pooled OLS, Fixed effect model, Random effect model and regression with Driscoll-Kraay standard errors). Result: The results of the regression analysis show that FDI has a positive impact on human capital. At the same time, the study also found that public investment in education also positively affects human capital; the life expectancy factor does not affect human capital. Conclusions: With this research result, the authors also proposed a number of solutions to improve human capital by attracting FDI and improving the efficiency of investment for the education of ASEAN countries. Besides, public expenditure on education also plays an important role in raising human capital. Therefore, investment in education should be promoted further in the future.
