In this era, the integrated technologies in a unit bring huge benefits for customers. In this paper, a novel design of structure for autonomous system is illustrated. It is superior by combining the specifications of various types in commercial market. As a result, numerous advantages of systems are converged into unified unit. The design of autonomous platform consists of hardware components and infrastructure. Later, the modeling of autonomous system is simulated on computer to fit with proposed design. The implementation of control scheme into model is to drive autonomous system to complete mission. From simulation results, it can be seen that the proposed strategy is feasible, effective and capable in reality.
Adaptive neuro-fuzzy control of ionic polymer metal composite actuators

<P>An adaptive neuro-fuzzy controller was newly designed to overcome the degradation of the actuation performance of ionic polymer metal composite actuators that show highly nonlinear responses such as a straightening-back problem under a step excitation. An adaptive control algorithm with the merits of fuzzy logic and neural networks was applied for controlling the tip displacement of the ionic polymer metal composite actuators. The reference and actual displacements and the change of the error with the electrical inputs were recorded to generate the training data. These data were used for training the adaptive neuro-fuzzy controller to find the membership functions in the fuzzy control algorithm. Software simulation and real-time experiments were conducted by using the Simulink and dSPACE environments. Present results show that the current adaptive neuro-fuzzy controller can be successfully applied to the reliable control of the ionic polymer metal composite actuator for which the performance degrades under long-time actuation. </P>

The first crystal structure of a pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ)-dependent methanol dehydrogenase (MDH) from a marine methylotrophic bacterium, Methylophaga aminisulfidivorans MPT (MDHMas), was determined at 1.7 Å resolution. The active form of MDHMas (or MDHIMas) is a heterotetrameric α2β2, where each β-subunit assembles on one side of each of the α-subunits, in a symmetrical fashion, so that two β-subunits surround the two PQQ-binding pockets on the α-subunits. The active site consists of a PQQ molecule surrounded by a β-propeller fold for each α-subunit. Interestingly, the PQQ molecules are coordinated by a Mg2+ ion, instead of the Ca2+ ion that is commonly found in the terrestrial MDHI, indicating the efficiency of osmotic balance regulation in the high salt environment. The overall interaction of the β-subunits with the α-subunits appears tighter than that of terrestrial homologues, suggesting the efficient maintenance of MDHIMas integrity in the sea water environment to provide a firm basis for complex formation with MxaJMas or Cyt cL. With the help of the features mentioned above, our research may enable the elucidation of the full molecular mechanism of methanol oxidation by taking advantage of marine bacterium-originated proteins in the methanol oxidizing system (mox), including MxaJ, as the attainment of these proteins from terrestrial bacteria for structural studies has not been successful.

Mitochondrial genome is an important molecule for systematic and evolutionary studies in metazoans. The development of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technique has rapidly increased the number of mitogenome sequences. The process of generating mitochondrial genome based on NGS includes different steps, from DNA preparation, sequencing, assembly, and annotation. Despite the effort to improve sequencing, assembly, and annotation methods of mitogenome, the low quality and/or quantity sequence in the final map can still be generated through the work. Therefore, it is necessary to check and curate mitochondrial genome sequence after annotation for proofreading and feedback. In this study, we introduce the pipeline for sequencing and curation for mitogenome based on NGS. For this purpose, two mitogenome sequences of Dermatobranchus otome were sequenced by Illumina Miseq system with different amount of raw read data. Generated reads were targeted for assembly and annotation with commonly used programs. As abnormal repeat regions present in the mitogenomes after annotation, primers covering these regions were designed and conventional PCR followed by Sanger sequencing were performed to curate the mitogenome sequences. The obtained sequences were used to replace the abnormal region. Following the replacement, each mitochondrial genome was compared with the other as well as the sequences of close species available on the Genbank for confirmation. After curation, two mitogenomes of D. otome showed a typically circular molecule with 14,559 bp in size and contained 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, two rRNA genes. The phylogenetic tree revealed a close relationship between D. otome and Tritonia diomea. The finding of this study indicated the importance of caution and curation for the generation of mitogenome from NGS.

The existing conventional motion controller does not perform well in the presence of nonlinear properties, uncertain factors, and servo lag phenomena of industrial actuators. Hence, a feasible and effective fuzzy self-tuning proportional integral derivative (PID) and feed-forward control scheme is introduced to overcome these problems. In this design, a fuzzy tuner is used to tune the PID parameters resulting in the rejection of the disturbance, which achieves better performance. Then, both velocity and acceleration feed-forward units are added to considerably reduce the tracking error due to servo lag. To verify the capability and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme, the hardware configuration includes digital signal processing (DSP) which plays the main role, dual-port RAM (DPRAM) to guarantee rapid and reliable communication with the host, field-programmable gate array (FPGA) to handle the task of the address decoder and receive the feed-back encoder signal, and several peripheral logic circuits. The results from the experiments show that the proposed motion controller has a smooth profile, with high tracking precision and real-time performance, which are applicable in various manufacturing fields.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Poly(<I>N</I>‐vinylcarbazole) (PVK) composites containing different concentrations of multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) were synthesized through the oxidative polymerization of <I>N</I>‐vinylcarbazole with ferric chloride. The synthesized composites were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet‐visible spectra, and thermogravimetric analysis. A honeycomb‐patterned film was fabricated by casting the PVK–MWCNT composite solution under humid conditions. The morphology of the honeycomb‐patterned films in the PVK–MWCNT polymer composites and the dependence of its pore diameter and pore height on MWCNT concentration were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy. The honeycomb‐patterned films were treated at 150, 250, 400, and 490°C to study the arrangement of MWCNTs in the patterned films and to measure the DC conductivity depending on the calcination temperature. DC conductivity of the patterned films was increased by increasing the concentration of MWCNT in the composites and in the increased pretreatment temperature. POLYM.
